Class of 2008

Disco Demons

Recommended Posts

Melbourne has two players Sam Blease and James Strauss, from the 2008 draft yet to play a game. I believe they got draft pick 17 and 18 respectively. So the assumption is they have talent. Both have been out for much of the year with injury. Can anyone confirm if they are going to be 100% come start of pre-season? Both are young blokes with a pretty good background. Should we be seeing them come the time pre-season comp?

blease looks pretty slick. just hope he's right for the start of pre-season. looking at this guy makes me think we will take a key position player with the second pick...ie.., butcher

I hope your wrong about taking a KP with our second pick Disco Biscuit, I mean Demon.

I'd watched both Blease and Strauss on YouTube at the start of the year, but I'd forgotten how good these two looked! I can't wait to get them both out on the park. Give them both full pre seasons and they could add class and pace to our midfield. I just hope Blease doesn't loose any of that electrifying pace, as a result of his broken leg (it was a leg not a shoulder, correct?). Imagine, adding Scully and Trengove to those two, plus Grimes, Sylvia, Bennell etc. Suddenly, pace, skill and great decision making.

Mr 'knows-nothing' Morton - you seem to know nothing about our current players..ie., Sam Blease...how can you then say we shouldn't take a KP with our second pick?

your probably going to educate me on best available now...and then i'm going to say you don't have a crystal ball...

If there was a standout key position player, we probably would take a KP, but there isn't, so we'll go with two midfielders.

What the?

I admit I am of the Younger age bracket around here but your use of Mr 'knows-nothing' Morton phrase is what my 7 year old cousin would say.

Why was that taken so personally? Looks like someone has used the Crystal ball line on you before?

Maybe it was the Disco Biscuit thing? if you realised what the means you wouldn't take it to heart buddy.

Yes I have not seen any of Blease, care to tell me other players I know nothing about as you seem to know ?

Anyway it's all good fun around here, you might want to relax and take down that defensive barrier that someone else has created.

Yerp.

The media is saying scully and trengove...as do most people on this site. but it's my perception that many people on this site only know of the players via youtube. myself included...

happy to take the first two standouts...scully and trengove...so i guess pick 18 will be best available KPP.

There we go ;)

You would have to assume if we do go with these 2 then pick 18 would be KPP.

I have seen a couple of games live of Matty Panos for Norwood in the reserves and he looked Ok. His body looked quite big considering his age. He takes a really good strong mark, although the few games I have seen he had limited amount of the ball. Still I would be happy to take him at 18.

Its funny, as a young kid it used to always fascinate me the way my dad and other men knew the numbers of players and I wondered how they managed to know them... did they spend hours studying the numbers, memorising in case of some bizarre exam?

Now I reckon you could name just about any player from the last few decades & i'd be able to tell you their number off the top of my head, as with most people on this forum.

(its not that funny)

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
