And if Hall does actually have only 3 striking charges, I would say that's an indictment on the system, the umpires and the AFL.

Apart from the obvious one, are there any more? He's had other charges, but 3 for striking is correct.

What is an indictment on the system, the umpires, the AFL , the media and football supporters in general is that no-one cares about the elbow to the head. Think of the children!

I dont think Barry Hall should be so quickly dismissed.

MFC needs a capable forward in the next 2 years to show the young guys how the job should be done. He does have a good record as a FF (leads out and demands football as well as one on one wrestle for the ball). Theres no doubt there is a risk of his behaviour being a problem again, its just a case of risk vs reward (think cousins and richmond)

I dont believe he would be around when melbourne has a true chance to go for the flag. The obvious question would then be how much to pay for how long? Is he capable of teaching watts/Jarrah/Newton to play as top line forwards?

I think he could be a very valuable asset for 2 years but top dollar/draft picks are not worth it.

i agree in part with what you're saying.I admit that at best you would only get a year or 2 out of him but if you could pick him up cheaply it may be a worthy risk.No doubt he still has the skill & talent to play at this level & having someone there like him takes the best backmen away from watts,martin,newton etc.These young guys of ours need a quality forward to teach them where to lead to & when to lead.At the moment they all seem lost & cant compete body on body so having hall there for 2 years would help them bulk up & gain some confidence by playing on 2nd & 3rd best backmen.I know we have no chance at finals at the moment & that we're building but if we keep going the way we are going these young guys development will stall & go backwards.To me,newton & dunn have gone backwards & possibly should be delisted at years end & i believe this is because they havnt had the quality forward to teach them best.Its all good having kids but losing every week dosnt teach them anything & dosnt get the club anywhere.I believe we are a long way from finals & dont think we will make finals until at least 2012 & thats because our young forwards havnt progressed without a mentor
