The Ted Strudwick Thread

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me the deal with Ted, will we draft him or are the NSW scholarships finished.

Plus what do we have to give up to get him (draft picks)

Thanks

Saw him on Wednesday he played mainly down back. Nothing special IMO he seemed to lack pace, his disposal was ok and he didn't really impose himself on the game. But maybe he had an off day it was only one game. He's still our scholarship player maybe worth a rookie selection.

I think we get first dibs on putting him on our rookie list if we want to, but he can turn the offer down and go in the draft if he thinks he is good enough.

Having said that, watched him on Wednesday, he looked ok, but not up to AFL standard, so I dont think we will have to worry about it

Bump.

Anyone know anything more about this kid? Should we offer him a place on the rookie list? haven't heard much about him for awhile

Edit - Sorry, bumped on the wrong board, can a mod move it to the drafting board please

Looks like Ted got the chop.

He was on his last yr as a scholarship player and wasn't transferred to a rookie spot prior to list lodgement 1 (last Friday).

As it now stands we don't have any scholarship kids.

I don't think we ever embraced the NSW scholarship with any great enthusiasm. Like the idea of recruiting Irish footballers, the cost factor ruled us out when we were struggling financially. I think the Northern Territory (where we will be playing some home games in the next few years) is going to be one of our targeted areas in the short term.

Which has to be a great thing WJ.

You'd think that with the inception of GWS in 2012 that the NSW/ACT talent would have been well tapped into anyway going forward.

I hope so. I think it would be a better decision than going to the rugby states or internationally at least the people from the Territory know and understand the game as good as anyone.

The system is finished, with Greater Western Sydney coming into the competition... Any NSW scholarship players, if not selected by their club, will play with the West Sydney team in the TAC cup next season, and all players in the area, will be zoned to West Sydney...
