Bate's ideal position?

Featured Replies

At this point you wouldn't get a ham sandwich for him.

mmm true.

I would be happy with a 30's or 40's pick. But then again this draft hasn't got great depth so I have heard.

The most worring thing for me with bate is that he seems to take twice as many steps to balance himself before kicking. This leads him to getting under pressure far more then he should. Might be getting close to a spell in the 2's to get some confidence back.

Where do you play him?

Great hands, booming kick - i thought he was better out of goal today, but he is wary of Miller, who likes to play 70 - 80 metres out.

I thought he had a shocker today, maybe he needs a spell at Casey?

He has had a shocking past couple of years. He does none of the things Bailey is trying to instill into our players. He does not chase, doesn't tackle and he does not attack the ball with authority. I watched him close yesterday as I have been calling for his head all year and on at least three occasians he was within 10-15 mtrs of the ball with hands on hips ball watching !!!!

All this from a number 10 draft pick. He needs a extended spell at Casey and if no inprovement is seen he must be traded

His ideal position is half forward. But he is playing shockingly at the moment, is just not having any influence, and at times looks more like a liability to the team than a weapon. Must be in danger of being dropped this week.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
