I took the disposal count of 6 players. They are right on the money, I didn't know exactly how many marks each player got..but i guessed the marks tally. Hope people appreciate this.

Frawley: 15 disposals, about 4 marks.

Strauss: 10 disposals, 1 mark

Petterd: 11 disposals, 2 marks

Jetta: 7 disposals, 2 marks

Morton: 22 disposals, 5 marks.

Grimes: 27 disposals (19 at half time), 10 marks.

PLayer SUmmary:

2. Jones: Didn't do much, would have had about 10 touches i'd say

5. Mclean: same as jones

7. Miller: Contested well and provided a target

8. Frawley: The fact that he got 15 touches is good enough for me. Playing good defence and then peeling off to get his own footy

10. Morton: Kicked a nice goal and found plenty of it. Also earnt us a 50m penalty when Barry Hall pushed him in the face.

11. johnson: A pretty fine effort. the fact that he doesnt get bumped off the ball easily is a good contrast to the likes of morton, strauss, bennell etc.

12. Sylvia: Shocking first half, probably only 2 or 3 touches with full game time to that point. In the 2nd half, he presented well on the wing/half forward to finish with probably 18 touches, 7 marks and a goal(i think?)

14. Dunn: was played in the forward line and tagging Mcveigh for a bit. Didn't do much from my angle. Hardly noticed.

15. Petterd: Laid a big strong hip and shoulder on barry hall in the first half which i took note of. He had Daniel Bell phobia in the 3rd quarter when he was in scoring range but refused to take a shot. frustated the hell out of me. Still a pretty good game though.

16. Grimes: Kept getting the ball in the back pocket on the release kick from either garland or frawley. Also took some nice overhead marks though in the backline. Kicking was better.

18.Green: Didn't score a goal i dont think which was interesting considering he spent a lot if time up forward.

20. Garland: Played one of the best games i've seen from him. Did everything his known for. Also when the sherrin fell into my arms in the dying stages of the last quarter he said 'yeh right here mate'. Nice and random note.

21. Bell: is always going to be a fringe player so i cant be bother commenting. Cheney has taken his sport now anyway.

22. Moloney: Didn't do all that much. About 10 or so touches from him.

23. McDonald: I thought he played well. Kicked a nice goal, earned himself free kick after free kick and did all the tough things we know he does.

34: Martin: Laid the best tackle of the game in the 2nd quarter. I can't remember who it was on. I think it was on big Jesse white but it was a ripper.

41: Bail: Had limited game time but he had a shot from 40metres out directly in front and completely stuffed it. No real great aspects of his game and never will be anything better than a good average player. No weapons.

42: Spencer: Easily our best ruckman. Kicked it into the mark twice though. Doing it once is just idiotic but twice? Nevertheless, he loves the argy bargy and rucks well

47.Strauss: Didn't get much of it..i think he could have doubled his disposal tally but his team mates ignored him on many occassions. His 3 or 4 kicks were all fine.

Cheney: i've forgotten his number but he played well. LIke grimes his disposal isn't great but he attacks the footy hard and i think he is a lock for round 1. can find the footy.

Jetta: I don't think he is going to be all that much chop. He did some very nice things definitely..but just isn't quick enough for my liking. For someone his height, he needs to be alot quicker unless u have wonaeamirri's ability to find space on the footy field. Jetta doesn't have this. Kicked a goal from 25 metres out in the last quarter but it was 1mm off from hitting the post.

Bennell: Didn't do much. Got half of his diposals from being rag-dolled and given the free kick. Other than that, he had 1 great kick that he kicked under pressure with the outside of his foot. Other than that, a quiet game.

I'm sure there are others like bruce..but nothing else to report i dont think

Thanks for the report freak.

There are some official stats on the Melbourne website for Morton, Sylvia and Grimes.

"Forward Colin Sylvia impressed with two goals and 25 touches and his game drew plaudits from his coach."

"Young guns Cale Morton (27 disposals and 10 marks) and Jack Grimes (26 touches) were also prominent."

Twist also posted this in the other thread, must have got the stats from Champion Data somehow:

"Some Stats from the game:

Grimes 15k-11h....11 contested possies....81% possies effective

Morton 18k-8h.... 22 uncontested possies....74% possies effective

Warnock 10k-7h....14 marks....94% effective possies

Sylvia 17k 8h.....10 marks.....2 goals...4 inside 50's....7 contested possies."

Thanks Freak,

- Suprised Morton had 22 possies. Most of them must have been on the opposing side to where I sat.

- I found Petterds game today very disappointing.

- Grimes probably missed 2 targets all day. Same goes last week. At what point will you admit that you were wrong on his disposal....

- Think you will be wrong with little Neville as well but understand your logic.

oh its not that grimes' kicking was bad but i dont expect anyone to miss targets when they are giving 20 metre kicks. Someone like hodge on the other hand, 60 metres pin-pointers. thats all. great game by grimes. I find it hard to imagine that Morton got more than what i recorded, but thats good i guess!..and sylvia with 25 touches was a bit of a surprise

Very good summary, Freakster. I disagree on Jetta. I like him. All in all though, you nailed it.

Were you at Casey 2 weeks ago ?

I would a generally agree with that but I thought Sylvia was better than rated. I like Jetta and thought he will be good.

Is Spencer our No 1 ruckman at the moment? When he went off and had PJ or Meeson in the middle we just lost the contest.

Beside a wonderful smother and a goal, Davey was just going. He has not set a game on fire since mid 2006. He is living off reputation ATM.

Agreed, not sure if he has fired since Byron departed.

Do we expect too much from him? Maybe Aaron is the icing, not the cake.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
