At what point can we say that the honeymoon is over for Jimmy and his Board?

They did a good job with the debt demolition, they seem to have done well with the AFL & the MCC and they've made some good appointments like Schwabby for CEO. But no major sponsor and looking down the barrell during a deep financial downturn and the pressure is on. I'd like to at least hear from the club as to the sponsorship situation in light of today's Mission Food news and I think we fans are entitled to know the precise state of play with a business plan going forward.

If an annual debt demolition is required to keep the club afloat to survive the next 12 months of the economic downturn, then count me in. When our on field performance improves, our appeal will increase, the AFL will double our friday night games (hahaha) and we will have a sponsor in no time.

Currently we are the worst team in the competition.

All that CAN change when the games start.

For my opinion, AFL sponsorship for the right brand or company is a bargain. Someone will come along, and they will do VERY well out of the alliance.

jimmy never took over because he wanted to,he took over because the club was an absolute abortion,there was never any honeymoon, when banks a ringing you for 5million thats serious pressure,now deeman just have some faith mate,we mite have to go 1season without a sponsor but eventually they will find one, but in saying that if they want to improve you have to win, just look at the hawks that wasnt achieved overnight.

substanital increase in positive media coverage (e.g. Martin Flanagan is going to be running a series of special articles on the Demon fightback over next year, and even Caroline Wilson has had positve things to say about us)

highly energetic engagement with City of Casey

In fact, at this point the only thing that hasn't gone exceptionally well is the major sponsor.

When that sponsorship clicks in, this board and executive team will be able to turn around and say it's the most effective administration we've had in at least half a century.

Don't forget there are a finite number of hours even in Schwab and Stynes days. Running Debt Demolition, negotiating the MCC/AFL arrangements, (these two items represent $5million we WOULD NOT HAVE if Gardiner/MacNamee were still in place) confirming and completing the Casey deal, processing the summit and just getting an overall handle on the place is a pretty good effort for half a year.

So you might not want to spit your bile at them just yet.

I didn't say they weren't doing a good job or that they weren't under pressure. It's been 6 months and there's been no business plan and no sponsor. It's not a case of "spitting bile" either. We are however, entitled to some answers, surely?

Unless Schwab and co develop a viable business model (which is different to the past model) that allows us to become and remain a sustainable going concern then we are going to have count you out Mo.

Stynes and Schwab have been good so far at rattling the can. It only get you so far and you can only do it once before the supporters/members get fractious. Now they have to show that they can run and build a profitable business.

I know Mo, you can barrack for Hawthorn, you probably voted Yes to the merger anyway. As the saying goes, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" That doesn't mean going in the other direction Mo! Stynes and Co. have done an amazing job in such a short time. Surely you'll back them for a couple of years whilst we get this group of youngsters up and running. Regarding the sponsor, the club would have several negotitions going on. They need to be careful what they say so we are going to have to trust in them Mo. You can do that can't you?

Well said. The players are working hard and I'm sure that the CEO and the Board are as well but their policies must come under scrutiny. Yet we still haven't seen a financial plan.
