Food for thought....

The last time we beat Geelong it was a windy, cold Friday night at the MCG. Melbourne also went into the game without a recognised key forward.

I doubt we'll get within 5 goals, but an interesting comparison.

Ahhhh memories. Sweet F all of a chance like that tonight, that night Geelong were not that good either.

Anybody remember back in 2005 or 2006 when we played Geelong on a Friday night and pumped them?

Brent Moloney had just crossed over from Geelong to the Demons and he hip-and-shouldered Jimmy Bartel and basically knocked him out.

I think we won by nearly 10 goals too!

Ahhh the memories... ^_^

You never know...the Demons could have a surprise upset win against the Cats tonight!? Yes I'm dreamin' I know! :P

Will Josh Hunt make a dill of himself again?

Haha I went with three other cats supporters to that game, from memory it was the 3rd round of 2005 and we gave them a bath, it was when Bruce was brownlow favourite and polled 8 out of the first 9 votes available.

The funny thing about that Bartel bump was that Moloney didn't actually touch Bartel, he just went down, and Moloney got done for two weeks!! When else has not touching a player (racial vilification excepted) resulted in a suspension?

the tribunal ruled that in attempted to hip and shoulder, moloney was responsible for bartels injury (he knocked himself out when he hit his head on the ground), because bartel had to try and avoid contact.

basically it was typical afl kick the mfc [censored].

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
