Absolutely agree re Starc but deeluded is on the money imo; he is at the moment immature and undisciplined in his bowling and maybe to a lesser extent his attitude.

Obviously you can't expect him to be the ultimate, disciplined professional at the age of 22 but I hope our lack of a real senior mentor figure in the fast bowling group (barring maybe Siddle although he is still young himself) doesn't affect the development of Starc and the other guys like Pattinson and Cummins.

experience is a must keep, as long as its the healthy variety. Not like the MFC senior experience on the past 10 yrs, excepting Jnr.

I don't recall Hazelwood getting a gig in Perth. His only international appearance was in an ODI in 2010 when he took 1/41 off seven overs. He's injured and has no hope of going this time around.

South Africa win by an innings and 27 runs . One more test for the Kiwi's over there before Pakistan arrive for 3 Tests (in February) . Foxtel will probably be covering those Tests as well .

There is so much cricket going on - Big Bash (it's kinda like cricket), International One-dayers start next week against Sri Lanka (5 games) They squeeze a couple of International t20's in late January before the Windies arrive here for 5 ODI's in early Feb .

We then go to India for 4 Tests and a series of One-dayer's in Feb/March . All this and we then play 2 Ashes series (10 Tests in all) between July and xmas/New Year . That's a lot of cricket .

Interesting day at the SCG today . Some soft dismissals means that we're not quite in a winning position .

No, I think it was Harris I saw in Perth. he didn't look much but that was the first time I've seen him. he looked 1 dimensional without much penetration.

I'd expect fire & brimstone from a bowler like that. Siddle has that position.

Cummins Pattinson & Starc have height & bounce. Cummins can't get onto the field. Johnson also gets bounce.

He's got to get his Rhythm going.

If the ODI in Perth was the first time you have seen him then you have missed an energetic hard working bowler who is better suited to Tests. And you expect fire and brimstone in a batsman friendly containment game like an ODI?

In the Tests he is far more aggressive and is an opening bowler. And Siddle is hard at it but he isnt fire and brimstone....Siddle is far smarter bowler than to just rely on pace and bowler..He has to be when he is regularly around 135-136kph.

No it wasn't one day Inter, I saw the Perth test. It was I thought a NSW bowler.. I thought the performance was lacklustre.

Totally agree on all that. Wade is maturing well. Batting was terrific.

Yeah I like the way Wade sets himself for a decent score . If he gets in then he's quite capable of scoring heavily . And he's just turned 25 years old - we're starting to build our team for the future .

It is a dead rubber though, Wyl . If we do lose this test it won't be remembered in future years . We used to lose the odd dead rubber when we were no.1 in the World but so what ?

You never like to lose a test but we've won the series and this is in some ways a practice match . For instance, would the selectors have only played 5 specialist batsmen if it were a live rubber ? Play the extra spinner if you're going to experiment (as preparation for India) Now that was an error (in my opinion) .

I'd like to see us chase down 250 odd though - for a few reasons .

Edit : without the aid of google or 'Alto Vista',(yes, it still exists!) can anyone recall the last time we lost a dead rubber? Against which nation and where?
