Neitz, Yze, White, Holland - retirements will free up $1.5 million

David Neitz has retired.

Ben Holland, Jeff White and Adem Yze will all probably do the same thing.

That is a hell of as lot of money that will be freed up. Probably about $1.5 million combined from those 4 guys hanging up the boots.

So at seasons end we will have a LOT of money to spend on players from rival clubs that are out of contract. We could offer more than any one and we will probably have pick 1 in the National Drafts and PSD.

The problem is, will any unsigned players want to come to the stuggling MFC? Lets hope so, 'cos for the first time ever we will have the salary cap space to lure 1 or 2 star players.

White will go on next year and why not, he's been one of our best this year, Yze and Holland will go though

Surely they are thinking of retiring before the season is over?

Why ?? they may be thinking of it.. but all "mail" has them both retiring at end of season.. Some serious whispering is that Jeff WONT go around again

I'm more concerned about the 92.5 threshold...

Might have to re-sign Bate for $750 000...

Get Pavlich for $900k a year. He's the only marque player I would look at. Great presence, great skills, doesn't get injured and the best (easily) player in a trash team.

And he's already made his real $'s in WA real estate. And he's from Vic.

I thought Pavilicious was from SA!?

Before you get too carried away watch the TIGES, still on only 2 wins @ nearly the halfway mark. Not more than 4 wins will see them get pick 1...

Where do you get $1.5mil from?

Neitz and Ooze are on fair money, but one or both are on the veterans list which means only half their pay-packets would count to the salary cap...

Holland COULDN'T be on much money, he's a year-by-year signing and would have been retained on an amount that would be close to league minimum, as they most likely never had plans to play him TOO much.

And White will stay on he's got at least another year in him, maybe more...

2 of their salarys only account for 50% in the cap, as they are veterans anyway...

someone said 6 weeks ago that white has been telling people 2008 is the end

fev, brown or pav would be nice :)

fwv would bring the club into disrepute lol wreck of family clean image..

i think this might have something to do with trav going to bris to for team balance..and money

Now they're only 1 win away. And they could have beaten the Dogs and played well against the Cats and Hawks. And they haven't played us yet.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
