There is no secret that MFC have more than a few needs & if things don’t turn expect a huge review of list & potential movement of some expendable “assets”.. 1-2 needs that can be addressed in the inaugural mid season draft, with genuine upside to get ahead on a few that will potentially selected in Nov Draft. Below are targets that are currently under the MFC recruitment watch and 1-2 speculative picks that some keen observers feel SHOULD be: = 1) Dillon O’Reilly (WAFL): A Genuine Key FWD Prospect that has the potential ceiling to kick BAGS. Clean as can be, mobile at ground level due to being perfect modern fwd size (193cm) & is a great potential foil for what we have currently as he is very diff to Weids, Smith’s & TMac. This kid is ready to go & I prey that the MFC somehow get their hands on him - S/O Stephen O and has same sort of composed tough & contested nature of his old man, ball either gets plucked or grounded just doesn’t get outmarked - Mature 19yo that seems to have developed quicker than many imagined initially, was seen as having low ceiling which has been re-assessed in a BIG way!!! (undoubtedly the equal best player MFC could most use on list right now & more so with eye on future & FWD stocks, impo) =1) Marlion Pickett (WAFL): Huge buzz about with Marlion now backing up what he’s delivered prev which is what recruiters want to see. Instant injection to MFC midfield rotation for mine, he’s a Tim Kelly clone that is perhaps a step quicker outside and half step slower inside but one that many clubs will be after if he continues his progression in off field and prep areas. X Factor Dees desp need & has low risk benefits as at worst he’d be a 10 week trial at best a 150 game JET!!! 2) Muhammad Saad (Coburg VFL): Bit of a left field one here but make it known he’s on numerous radars.. Absolute raw electric pace that can even make his big bro look a step slow in first 5 steps - Also stands 10cm taller which adds to his repertoire. Has taken big strides in his reading of game & midfield fitness with time in middle this season - Can butcher it at times but if used correctly many think he can be a real weapon! Could be DEADLY as outside mid/wing & like Hunt - would play better in a side that has more than 1 speedster to use in tandem and link in bursts. 3) Sam Lowson (Coburg VFL): A really interesting prospect that plays modern game perfectly, has great hands and wastes almost ZERO touches. Strong overhead and in first touch which is key, clean and composed with strong pressure potential that could lift to the level req quickly in AFL system, the base and talent are there and can see this guy having impact almost instantly. Has knocks but big upside! Cult figure alert - hair.. is all I’ll say!!! 4) Sam Fisher (Carlton VFL): Genuine speedster that would be a handy addition if he continues to improve on recent outings. Pressure acts decision making much improved and will 100% be on an AFL list in 2020. 5) Cory Gregson (SANFL): Former Cat who was close to being picked up LY but just missed out, however 2019 form suggests his body is as sound as it’s ever been and if stays fit would be an asset to any team needing a small fwd who can play mid minutes in small bursts. Clean and Smart - One id personally love to see given a crack at MFC. Think Lincoln Mccarthey - Step quicker & less brain snaps albeit with less raw talent and “freak” ability but saying that he’s got gifts too, not to be missed if he’s healthy - Clubs already lining up. Others: Mitch Hibberd (VFL) Jye Bolton (WAFL) Wil Hickmott (WAFL) Luke Meadows (WAFL) Jake Di Pasquale (Sorrento/Casey) It is going to be very interesting to see what happens but there are a heap of Sydney Stack/Fritter/Kelly types around just needing that opportunity.. ripper draft class next year and if we do badly enough Rowell would be genuine DEADLY with Brayshaw and Oliver - imagine! But yes I’d rather we didn’t finish last also, but it’s still fun to picture! Can’t see us being anywhere near his range but who knows. Well I am surrounded by my 4 young and loud children, watching freo, typing on iPhone as I get more and more angry - im Stunned they’re weren’t more typo’s or auto correct errors - give a guy a break.. if You saw how fast I type on this damn phone you’d sit down cross your legs and applaud me.. lol (errors now fixed).

Vandenburg, Lever, Hannan are others and May will end up one also eventually too it’s a MAJOR issue and it’s poor luck, but that’s life! But for GOD sake.. If I hear another douche_puff wag on about recruiting or Sparrow or Marty Hore or Bedford etc I’ll bloody spontaneously combust!!! LEAVE THE RECRUTING to the men that have assembled champion data’s best list - OK! (And yes, list is ONE comp to winning but you can have best list ever assembled, EVER - With a lack of system, def run, continuity and communication leaders - they’ll get SMASHED most weeks irrespective of whom they play or whether they are 2nd best all time list or in bottom few all time, they’ll STILL get smashed by both at times!

Bedford isn’t slow that’s just idiotic - 14 touches is PLENTY for a small fwd since when do disp mean a damn thing? Finding footy isn’t our issue locking ball in, fwd entry kicks & outside pace are! Maynard will also help release Clarry and gus more on outside so they’re not inside all day long, never ceases to amaze me how many dills there are in footy supporters I mean seriously some of you are just like those members who still cry out “kick ittt” when there’s a vacant bloody 50.. Grrrr! Our issue is not complicated - where not running hard enough defensively, our key backs are Inj (draft Collins I hear someone say, yeah that’s the bloody solution, pls - turns it over a heap and socks pace another omac with better marking but gets shown up 1/1 - diff is his mids are running BACK!!!) but they’ll be back and then prob neither of frost and OMac ever play once May/Lever play and have continuity of form that’s it both will go, Lever will play intercept role Max will push fwd more & Smith will play back 1 every 3/4 was whenever match ups suit by then Our mids will actually be as fit as other sides are atm which makes a MASSIVE diff re consistency and setup it’s x15 these days re when your underdone plus the game is so much bout setups these days if your system is off your almost never going to win, we thought we could play catch up and punch 2 wins (Port/Ess) but we haven’t and it’s [censored] but it’s also life - Pies & Tigers are 1 win ahead of us, if we get our system working and some key role players back that can actually mean we at least half ground balls in either 50 arc then the diff will show. WC loss was symptomatic of where we are - inconsistent, and it carried over to this year cus we have key ground ball personnel and MORE importantly key SYSTEM leaders out ie Lewis, Lever, Hannan, Vanders - players that are HUGE in talking and communicating re system which is multiplied AGAIN this year with no runners out there. ZERO to do with recruitment lmfao - our recruitment team have done a fantastic job, but right now other factors mean we’re relying on players that arent capeable of optimising our system which iS killing us. Thats what BM was saying to Chaplin today - all our best def runners and communicaters are out or down on form and are mids are forced to constantly win win win every contest instead of being able to run more defensively cus they’re not confident in rotating back and not halving contests or staying outside cus they’re trying to be there for every single contest & are hack kicking cus there has been no continuity & many still not game ready they’re still weeks away form other teams re setup and being able to gel as a single unit setup wise - look at GC today, 100% that win was about setup & def run to halve contests to allow the time to stay in the game and prevent run ons.. HOW can we win games when we aren’t in sync systematically and we can’t buy any sort of breathing room at all - cus we get scored against every damn entry.. and can’t get ground balls i50 Either end! Insanity - midfield is great but not miracle workers it’s all about being able to absorb pressure and then capitalising when you Your chance - we can’t do either atm!!!

Disagree - was good by foot today as was stretch, both have lowered heads on fwd 50 entry and that’s the kick we need to hit. They’re not gonna be transistioN kickers that bust is open but they do lower eyes and look lateral unlike almost all our current senior players! I’d have Maynard over Nate any day of week, gets better each time I see him & I’d have stretch over a few also - can be caught out if trying to hit stagnant targets but inside 50 Disposal is good and runs well on outside which is what we need. That’s what’s missing - Hannan, Smith, Vandenburg, Maynard, Stretch all should feature and would have helped plenty if in last week - Hannan Mostly Vanders toughness and def run stretch is another who runs well defensively!

Pruess was obv being held for thurs night. Maynard was absolutely terrific in a woeful overall effort, Chandler & Bedford also impressed me, but both are just so so slight. Stretch and Maynard must be in’s for next week with concern being turnaround time. Baker was quiet but has had no prep but pace is still quite something. Smith also looked good despite his field kicking - for me his hands mean he will be an inc once match fit, Joel Smith ahead but thanks to a JLT game he was put back into for [censored] knows why he’s out. All MFC players there in crowd, TMac didn’t look sore but who knows, Oliver and Salem both talked about how bad fri was and how much better we were against cats which I found a little off putting in a 80pt loss tells me Clarry still being young really just refers to his own performances I suspect even though he says “we” - Heard Brendan Mc say few interesting things, seems coaches blv it’s 100% attitude and lack of following instruction defensively. Maynard 27 touches and looked a cut above all other mids, even delivery was good. Chandler had 17 kicked 2 and loads of pressure acts, Bedford looked good but still while away I think.

Would kill for a Miers type in our fwd 50 right now - Although I do blv Jeffy will be I’m for a cracker year from next week onward

Pretty clear now with decent sampls size that were just not where we thought we were. List is young and seems to have far more gaps than we realised - WC started the misery and all clubs inc Bris have followed suit and showed us up for pace and with getting behind our back 6 consistently. Much work to do to even salvage a top 8 spot let alone any grand delusions at this stage. Could be corrected by later in year but personally I cant see how. Cats went and fixed their holes we’ve just viewed WC loss as a bad game and tried to do same thing again without getting any fwd pressure in and a backman who we then play with two of the back men we wanted gone.. woeful and shame but it’s a LONG way off let’s not kid - we’re 8-13 at best I’d say. Hoped LW was aberration but gut feel was that it wasn’t - esp when blues nearly Knocked port off.. oh dear - we need 5-6 feisty pressure players at least over next year or two, or a miracle change in style.

Why so many so glum? Go back to any of last 3 games V Cats and add one of comp’s BEST 1-1 defenders to our side as well as some polish from KK & that’s tonight - If you’d of known we’d add that next time we face Geelong after the finals we’d be 50pt favourites.. weather helps cus it’ll be a gritty contest and I expect our boys to be simmering.. Dees by 15pts

*Pun unintended* Just an amazing story first off for Jay & getting a game 16 days after being added to an AFL list - We all wish him well.. just had a chat to a member of the “inner circle” whom tells me it was revealed yesterday that he was brought in to play a lock down FWD role inside 50 to replace Spargo, perhaps meaning Hunt stays back or at times they perform a double pressure role but either way I think it’s exciting to know that may be the role he’s been brought in to play!!! Can’t wait for the bounce back effort this week - should be a cracking WIN ?

Pretty sure Weid can take ball at highest point which means overhead, so sick of the negativity many of you portray week in week in - it’s R1 ppl, get over it! Weid has few opportunities and is still learning the craft - was LEAST of our prob yesterday! The goal kicking I’ve seen him do is fantastic! Went 8/9 last session I saw and his GK was solid last 6 weeks of season.

I can see ppl being worried but your point - is pretty spot on! its a diff game now and a high premium is placed on rehab even for niggles but the rehab group are still handled well with a lot of running & basically just miss contact drills so I don’t think it’s a bad sign we’ve had so many go through that group. ie Gawn being only member of mid group not “interrupted” but that’s not really true - Oliver and Gus had solid work loads and haven’t really been interrupted even Trac, he’s fitter and looks dominant in sims now - it’s all just precautionary and related to the higher level of professionalism we now have down at the club: one that’s now seems as the leader in innovation and professionalism, a far cry from being the laughing stock just some years ago. From what I’ve seen - I’m not one bit worried about starting later and the new regulations around sessions and breaks etc when there I see a group that’s hungry and that’s going full bore - with an added sense of purpose than ever before! The talk volume and clarity is sensational even Comp to Pies around corner if you watch both groups you see the difference in positive reinforcement but more importantly you hear a lot more focus words re intent and focus from players such as “Come in boys, we gotta want it more than everyone else” or “Keep playing the Melb way, we wanna dominate those gut running red time minutes that’s our edge” and so forth.. trust me - it’s a positive environment down there and one I’ve NEVER seen before! New rules another reason to feel positive - heard BMAC state this on numerous occasions ie “that new centre setup is our gold mine boys, execute and we will win”..
