A Day at the Races
Apologies for the shot, not sure why it’s come up like that. Couldn’t resist, Williams is a legend!

A Day at the Races
G’day Macca. Gold Mag was very impressive. That was some turn of foot. El ran a good race, did a bit of work early and was a little under pressure upon straightening but fought well to the line. I didn’t get the full rundown as connections were quick to leave after the race. Will have some more when I speak to mate later on. El was quite agitated an hour before the race win the traffic surrounding his stall. They had to move him to a quiet location, maybe that had a part to play. Not the result they wanted but another race will pop up soon. I’ve taken a couple of pics but I’m having trouble uploading them for some reason.

I want him to win it for the acceptance speech alone.

A Day at the Races
‘ Outback Warrior’ & ‘Gold Mag’ were impressive in their debuts and won by decent margins Macca. Both show ability, but like you said there’s a number of lightly raced horses and sometimes the jump from maiden grade to a BM64 isn’t always plain sailing. This really is a good race for betting especially the exotics. Spoke to mate yesterday and they are 95% certain they will run tomorrow. Horse is also nominated for Sale on Thursday but with the track rated a Heavy8 down there Sandown is a better option. I will head down to the track tomorrow, it’s been a while since I had a ticket printed from an old style bookie. Looking forward to it.

C'MON MAXY
I agree with Cornes. We are so lucky to have him. MAX GAWN has been the best and most influential player in the competition this season and the Melbourne ruckman definitely deserved his spot in my round 16 Team of the Week. I think he has a really good chance to win the Brownlow Medal.

A Day at the Races
El Magnificence has accepted for Race 3 at Sandown on Wednesday. Full field of 16 to go around at this stage which makes it a tricky affair. El has drawn barrier 10 in what should really be a competitive race and a lottery to be honest. It’s a BM64 and nothing really separates all horses in the ratings. Highest rated horse is at 65 and lowest at 61. Some of the 65 rated horses have placed an apprentice on board as they were lumped with in excess of 60kg. No odds available as yet. https://www.racenet.com.au/racing-form-guide/sandown-20180711/le-pine-funerals-handicap-race-3 Edit: Bet365 have a market open. He’s $10 and $3.40. Fifth/sixth pick. Fav is at $5 (7).

He needs to slow down a tad. His price is surely rising, what would he be worth?

What the Fritsch
Sorry, my intention wasn’t to point out the spelling, I liked the sound of it. He’s become my daughter’s favourite and we will run with it here.

I also took the double with our picks because of the odds but obviously no good. Yes, we take the collects when we can Macca. I got the tri in the 4th at Newcastle x2.5. It was more you know what than class. Picked the favourite to win and worked the numbers backwards, 5-4-3. I was following a trend that was happening often early in the day. Nice collect for the price of a short black. I noticed Wadda’s pick has come into $4.60 from $6.

A Day at the Races
Neither did my pick Macca. I did have a productive early session though. A couple of winners and a trifecta with good returns. Might tune in to the Casey game now with the occasional switch back to Flemington.

What the Fritsch
You might have stumbled on an appropriate nickname for him. Plenty of good inside!

The Need for Outside Midfielders
He looks cooked right now. Fox reported he will miss close to a month with a strained calf.

A Day at the Races
El Magnificence scratched. I believe they will accept for a BM64 on Wednesday at Sandown. I will pass on more information as the weekend passes. Good luck to all today.

A Day at the Races
Connections do have a high opinion about El’s ability Macca. I believe the horse can win some very nice races in the not too distant future. I don’t think he can match Nature Strip tomorrow, although I do think he can be very competitive and is definitely a place chance. Well, Cool Chap’s odds have been trimmed down to $7.50 on TAB. Maybe punters do read our ‘3 Way Turf Talk’. Just had a look at his form this preparation. In terms of class, his last start was the ‘easiest’. In the 5 before that he raced in Listed & Group races against the likes of ‘ Humidor & Happy Clapper’, with the biggest losing margin being 5.1L in a Group 3 in Sydney. Thanks for pointing it out, I believe we are getting slight overs. Sleep? Long gone Macca....I’m in the middle of two weeks leave and how naive of me to think I could snooze during the day when the 3 little rascals are on holidays themselves.

A Day at the Races
Like Macca stated, could be a really good Saturday. World Cup, Casey leading into the Dees game, ponies in between ( with some return hopefully), more World Cup and of course no shortage of Demonland throughout the journey. Netflix on the back burner for now.?

A Day at the Races
Best Bet. Flemington R4 No.3 Remember The Name TAB Odds: $5.00 In terrific form and has run some quick sectionals of late. Tricky field with the top 4 all a genuine chance of winning but i like to stick with winning form in similar class. That makes Oliver riding two of our “ Bests” tomorrow.

The Need for Outside Midfielders
I probably wouldn’t go near him by these numbers and when you say he’s in a decline you weren’t wrong. Dan HANNEBERY GOALS 0 BELOW AVG GAMES PLAYED 10 KICKING EFFICIENCY 52.8 BELOW AVG CLEARANCES 2 BELOW AVG CONTESTED POSSESSIONS 7 BELOW AVG EFFECTIVE DISPOSALS 13.1 BELOW AVG AFL PREMIERSHIP 2018 STATISTICS AS AT ROUND 15 The numbers are stark. 2016 average 2016 rank (out of top 120 mids) 2018 average 2018 rank (out of top 121 mids) Disposals 30.8 5 19.1 83 Kick rating -3.3% 96 -14.3% 121 Metres gained 427m 13 199m 112 Contested possessions 13.2 10 7 90 Uncontested possessions 17.8 11 11.9 67 Clearances 4.7 36 2 89 Score involvements 7 12 3.4 108 Pressure points 44.2 36 31.4 99 Perhaps the most staggering part of Hannebery's descent is he's still only 27 and should be in the prime of his career. His foot skills have been worse than any other midfielder in the AFL with his kick rating at -14.3 per cent.

Petracca in a rut?
His best football came as a deep forward last year. In the absence of Jesse he was a match winner more than once ( QB, ESS). If it’s simply a confidence issue play him in his best position. Let him clunk a few up forward and hope he gets his range back. I believe he would offer more than 4 possessions ( Hannan) if allowed to use his strengths. I thought he battled hard against the Saints, a better showing than previous weeks anyway. Rotating between the centre square and half forward isn’t working. You could argue we don’t need to play him deep as we are the number one team for marks inside 50. My belief is you need to play him in a position where he can impact the most.

@Macca $1.45 for Nature Strip with TAB. $ 71 El Magnificence. The roughest in the race.
-
A Day at the Races
No odds up as yet after looking at multiple sites. You’d imagine as short as last start Macca. El Magnificence has drawn near the grandstand rail this time so here’s hoping he’s a sneaky chance for a top 4 finish. That is of course if the pattern suits that side of the track.
