POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01
Genuinely interested to read some thoughts on why some have Hunt’s game as disappointing. From the telly I didnt think he was as bad as some are suggesting. His numbers weren’t great but he never stopped chasing especially in the second and third when Richmond were cutting us to ribbons. I certainly didn’t think he turned the ball over as much as some others. Maybe someone that attended can shed some more. Was he given a specific role on Rioli or the likes?

POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01
Only 6 more sleeps until the next game. Get some regulars back next week and off we go. Thought it was a decent hit out for us. Richmond might have dropped off in the last but it seemed we ran the game out fine. Some iffy disposal out of the back early on, we just need to limit the errors. Petty only took 3 or 4 marks but liked his attack and clean hands. He plays like that again next week and he might be pushing for Round 1. Hopefully they are spot on with Jeffy’s assessment of only missing a couple of weeks. Looked lively early I thought. Some head shaking moments, some positives also, it’s getting real now.

A Day at the Races
@binman back with a bang, good picking mate. She was way too good. An omen bet if I’ve ever seen one today, Haames wins the first at Sydney, it was Number 7 but did jump out of barrier 4.

3 things I did waiting for footy to return
1. Once trade and draft were done we welcomed Junior Demon number 4 into the household early December. First preseason baby out of the lot. Developing nicely but still off legs. 2. Disagreed daily with the lovely about the best way to soothe baby, White Noise or MFC theme song. 3. Watched the Elimination and Semi-Final highlights and perused DL an endless amount of times during sleepless nights.

Out Best 22 Imports
Can we squeeze Shaun Smith somewhere in there? For mark of the century alone.

Express Yourself
No personally. I have no problem with the ‘Glitz & Glamour’ of US sports as that’s what they do over there and good luck to them. Their 4 major sports have a massive world wide following regardless. My preference is the European Football model of players arriving in a team bus and club attire.

Our Best 22 Exports
I’d have Matthew Bishop ahead of either Dunne or Howe.

GAME DAY - AFLX Scratchings Match
We had it on as background noise LDC, the two eldest occasionally looked up at the TV. 12yr old girl’s enthusiasm perked up only when Fritta appeared as he’s become her favourite, 10yr old boy was totally confused with all the rules and basically tuned off. Their words “ this is silly Dad.” They were a lot more involved and excited in our ladies’ match yesterday. A night out last year for the family at AFLX was a lot more entertaining as the team was running around then. Big fail in my opinion this year.

AFLW: Rd 4 vs North Melbourne
Very winnable game from here, just need to tighten up. We seem to be going down the boundary a lot and allowing Norf loose players through the middle on the rebound.

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
Thanks for the prompting to head over, must say it was a great laugh. It’s almost worth joining up over there just to give this Pie fan a like. “The Oliver bagging is embarrassing, he is a very, very good footballer & for his age will only get better, possibly elite. Would love to have him. Keep your snout in the trough Piggy!”

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
Marty Hore is a good price with some agencies at $81 for the Rising Star. Problem is, he’s ineligible for the award, unless the AFL are maintaining their standards of tweaking rules to now allow mature age recruits to become eligible.

Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
Hunt was the biggest positive after no listed injuries, for me anyway. While it was good to get a look at the unknown, Preuss, Sparrow, C Wagner to name a few, it was great getting back to what we know about Hunt. Really enjoyed his game, first half especially. Seemed confident again with a bit of dash, broke a couple of tackles, lowered the eyes a few times and managed to hit his targets more often than not. If he keeps this kind of showing up he will definitely deserve a spot in what’s a tough back 6 to crack into. On Lewis, I’m sure we’ll have a few conversations about his place in the team during the year for one reason or another, but watching from the same level as the players, even though he’s prone to a few lazy passes, his kicking really is sublime.
