Ben Brown and Joel Smith pivotal in the goal. Love Bowey’s composure.
-
He’s just a bit awkward with everything he does, rarely takes the ball cleanly and takes too long to be able to dispose of the ball.
-
Brown should have two assists if his teammates could convert.
-
The impact of Ben Brown. GWS player totally freaked out and was forced to give away a free kick because he knew he couldn’t contend. Defenders don’t do that with an army of small forwards.
-
Good run from the umpires, expect a lot of soft decisions the other way in the second half.

Good Milkshake.

We are lacking tall marking targets in the forward line, couldn’t see that coming!
-
The ANB role hard to replicate there.
-
Joel Smith’s tackling is elite.
-
Fritsch undoing the great work by Ben Brown, ouch.
-
Melksham the ideal sub.
-
Fingers crossed we can kick a winning score.
-
ANB nullified our ability to win last week with his fumble fingers.
-
He was sub.

Tomlinson must be livid and rightly so. Again, we have too many small forwards. The correct change would have been to keep JVR in and drop one of ANB, Pickett, or Chandler.

Brown straightens is up, by being in the team it will allow the players up the ground to aim for a target in front of goal and not just in the pockets. Brown back in the team will help our small forwards in the wet conditions. Also, if conditions will be so wet and slippery why the hell is ANB in the team?

We have been playing with a smaller forward line that clearly has not worked and yet people are against replacing small forwards with talls? We need less smalls, more talls (along with our very good mediums in Smith and Fritsch) and greater overall balance in the side. We all saw the disaster of taking away a third tall from the backline (Petty) to play him forward (while our best tall forward Brown was playing at Casey) so why keep repeating the same mistakes?

Where will the revenue come from?
Straight Sets Simon replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hopefully the biggest outcome is less revenue for footy media meaning less content. That would be a great result. -
Ben Brown is averaging three goals per game at AFL level this year.

Both JVR and Brown should have been named on the ground, Chandler and ANF both very lucky and don’t fill me with any confidence. I’d love to see Joel Smith and Fritsch playing alongside Brown and JVR, two tall, two mobile medium and a couple of small forwards (not the four that had made our forward line impotent) would be a handful for any defence in the league. Hopefully the coaching staff make amends for dropping Tomlinson after his best game for the club and bringing in an underdone Petty (at least he wasn’t played forward). We badly missed Bowey’s composure last week.

Add Ben Brown to the forward line and remove one or two small forwards and suddenly the entries into the forward line will look a lot better. The team has been out of balance for much of the year, highlighted by the Petty forward / Ben Brown injured and then playing for Casey “situation”.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Straight Sets Simon replied to binman's topic in Melbourne Demons
I want to see us go extra tall and really stretch defences with Smith, Brown, JVR, Fritsch and a maximum of two small forwards. Prefer Gawn to drop back than forward. -

Ben Brown naturally straightens us up and brings the smalls into play as he brings the ball to ground in dangerous areas. -

Bye Bye Bombers: Logo Change Considered
Straight Sets Simon replied to radar's topic in Melbourne Demons
Snowflakes getting offended by a change that won’t ever happen is peak 2023. People are such nuffies if they ever thought they would change the name or logo.
