The biggest highlight was the continued use of Pickett in the middle throughout the game. We had glimpses in the past then wouldn’t see it at all for a long time. Is Goodwin starting to break from his “it worked in 2021 so it will work now/playing favourites that ruined 2022” phase?

Brown is still our best key forward option as he consistently provides a target and leads up at the ball. It’s not his fault his knee seems cooked. What he needs is more key position forwards around him to take some pressure off him.

Welcome to to Danger Zone™.
-
Adelaide are much better than their ladder position suggests and St Kilda much worse.
-
Petracca took a big hit early on and was on his knees for a while trying to recover. Not saying it’s the reason but wouldn’t surprise me.

It’s part of my comedy routine that I have perfected in pursuit to win the affection of fellow Melbourne nuffies on an internet forum.

I want him back, the issue is (even when he was at Collingwood) is his marking. Today highlighted how badly we need more marking targets forward of the ball. I’m not sure Grundy is the solution but he is one of only a few options we have. Also, I’m firmly of the belief that we can’t rely on Gawn as much as we do without running him into the ground.

I was puzzled by the suggestion in the pre-season that his kicking was a strength, it’s anything but.

Hibberd needs to be back in the team, he was top-five most important before his injury. Still too many small forwards, I can see Woewodin coming out (didn’t do a lot wrong) as Chander was great and Pickett finally is showing form again. Smith is an excellent sub but we really need his forward marking presence more. I love Ben Brown but he looks cooked physically at the moment but no other option to replace. I just got word that Petty can now breathe without the assistance of the iron lung so be sure to see him back for Tomlinson as well.

We saw the return of Danger Zone™ where Melbourne totally take the foot off the gas when a 30 point margin is reached. Concerning.
-
It’s still loading.
-
Thank god for Tomlinson, he should dominate for Casey next week.
-
So dumb by Pickett.
-
All set up for a one-point loss.
-
Because he’s our best option. We have 1-2 too many small forwards.
-
Simply not enough marking options forward, hence why the ball keeps getting intercepted.
-
The dreaded 30 point has struck us again.
-
It’s been a bad five minutes saved by some poor Adelaide goal kicking.
-
The score is more reflective of the actual game now.
-
Chin kicking for his spot in the team. Good Chin.
-
Too many small forwards in this team.
-
Totally on top everywhere except the forward line. Lack of marking targets forward, who would have thought?
-
Tomlinson BOG.
-
He will probably need 40 possessions, 20 marks and to kick eight goals from the backline for Goodwin to not drop him next week so long as Petty can still stand upright.
