WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I can't stress this enough, Melbourne taking Oliver at pick 4 truly is remarkable. In years gone by we would have just followed the "experts" and taken Parish (Scully, Trengove, Morton and Toumpas) but somehow without playing a game our recruiting team (along with some of us on here) were able to see the talent he has.

Rising Star.

Oliver will be our Patrick Cripps.

Thank you. I just love how at all times Oliver was on the move, it was just so instinctive.

I know.

Brayshaw was fantastic (plus he did it at AFL and not NAB Challenge level), but Oliver's impact thus far as a first year player has been better.

No chance, I've not seen a draftee at Melbourne come in and have such an immediate impact like Oliver has had.

Can someone please make a GIF of his handpass to Salem in the back pocket? That was ridiculous.

No, and I bloody hope he turns out better than Cooney.

People here are getting stuck into Parish? Ridiculous.

Very satisfying that we were able to get that draft pick ahead of them with some clever deals.

That was Moloney who didn't bump Bartel.

Happy with this.

It's not a criticism, just an observation about how he plays which is similar to McKenzie. I love the guy and after his highlights were posted here was one of the first to get on his bandwagon.

No, his handpass technique is very similar and like McKenzie his first option more often than not is to handpass.

His handpass technique looks similar to McKenzie's too (albeit more effective).

You're in the Clayton Oliver thread.

He won't just start in the centre square, he will be at Gawn's feet.

I was wrong. He will play round 1.

I thought I muted you? Oh well, never too late.

He looks like McKenzie, is the same number as McKenzie, has the same handball technique like McKenzie and isn't confident to kick like McKenzie. Other than that he looks good.

Oliver's "physical superiority"? He was fat as a junior and still managed to dominate, imagine how much better he will be when he puts on more muscle.

I can see him playing the first four or five games at Casey to get up to speed before playing a dozen or so games for Melbourne this year.
