No I was actually giving you respect by replying to you, I am allowed to dismiss anything out of hand I like, it is a Public Forum, if I overstep the line I will be banned by the moderators. As I said to another poster, respectfully, I get my share of garbage thrown at me, but hey, water of a duck's back I am not on here to win friends, don't really care, here to contribute my opinion on topics, including this one, which between us is getting off topic Sorry chap not another one of my loves, University education, paricularly sociology or any of the humanities, you can't learn about life from a book, or from a professor who has possibly spent most of his working life in the rather cloistered and surreal environment of a university Sorry offline for a while now, not being rude if you reply

W What a wonderful diatribe that was. Oh look! back to answer your post, thought I should be hiding, told you before I have my standards same as you have yours, if you don't like mine, I really don't care, it would take somebody a lot better than you seem to be to put me in my supposed place, don't read my posts, I do that there are about 4 or 5 posters on here I skip as soon as I see their nickname I hope that supporters who read this board or anything else anybody writes are able to digest and if they feel it valid add it towards forming their own opinions on whatever subject that is being discussed I only have an issue with the supporters who do nothing but criticise everything about the Club, and that is to only wonder why if they hate it so much they continue to support, I ring supporters and encourage them to support the Club by becoming members, when I do this I encounter supporters who want to criticise via me, and I tell them the same thing as I do on here, become a member again and stand up, write, phone, email, speak out at the AGM, I happily sign up the members who freely and willingly want to I was actually at the training session you mentioned above, and if you had cared to read the posts, I actually encouraged Wayne coz I thought it was a great idea, and contributed by getting Mitch Clark and Brendon Fevola to retweet about the timings, so if you must lambast please can you get your facts straight first, I know this may be difficult but please try My writing style was a deliberate act old chap, looking for a bit of levity, you will notice it doesn't happen now, got the opening to use the tried and tested joke about it, so it was cool And just as a final thing, let's call it granstanding, quite a few volunteers who phone contribute to this Board, and I have differing opinions to a couple of them, but most of them actually don't mind what I post, I know because we have discussed it...hhhmmmmm

What agenda, I have an opinion, remember them, only certain posters on here seem to have the right to have them. I wasn't going on a crusade, I again have an opinion on addiction, others may not share it, but that's cool, but I have the right to my opinion I am not broadcasting, I have made it clear I do it because I want to, if I can shame/encourage/persuade/assist others in doing it fine, if you have a problem with that, as I have said a million times before don't read my posts I do it because I love the Club, and want to give something back, strange seems I have heard that before somewhere
-
Please read some of the posts in this and other topics, I would expect him to walk across the Yarra to the G
-
He also professes to love the Club, so perhaps he should have kept his 'paid' opinion to himself, rather than offering another free kick to the many Club detractors. I am not potting him, I am just not gushing in my praise, if you read my posts you will see why. I really don't think you have made a point, seeing that you are misrepresenting what I have said, but if it makes you happy then Touche (said with just a hint of sarcasm)

I do find modern society rather concerning The Ox in question, yes he has, with the help of some great people, managed to drag himself back from the brink, but he should not have put himself there in the first place, it is a cop out to say you are 'addicted' He can be congratulated for achieving this outcome, but not put on a pedestal for doing so. Same with being a good footy player, there are hundreds of those, he is nothing more than them We seem as a society to have a predilecton for elevating flawed characters as something to aspire to Let's take as an example which I prefer of another so called bad boy, Col Sylvia, one or two blemishes, but he realised what he was doing, so now but without fanfare he spends time visiting the RCH on a regular basis to keep himself grounded, using his 'celebrity' for good and you will find him volunteering to do a lot of the community work with the Club as a way of giving back
-
That's a very brave outlook to have on this board See people don't read my posts. I don't want to bring him down, in my eyes he is just a bloke, a very good footy player in his time If he wants to help, then instead of getting his head on the tv, get down to the Club, offer his services, he has said he would, there are lot's of other things he could do
-
Oh dear, think I have that covered as well, it is one of the hazards of playing sport, let me think, beling self righteous for a moment, 3 knee operations, one shoulder, one elbow, one ankle, two nose etc etc......I get it he is a hero in some people's eyes, he was a good footy player, he wants to help the Club, doesn't help it by potting the present Coach.......let's see him do something then.........as I said he has already used his 'life experiences' to talk to the first year players, let's see something else
-
Why, you obviously haven't. As I said the other day, if you don't like what I write then don't read it, it ain't gonna break my heart, I write to offer an opinion, if it sounds self righteous that is your opinion and yours only, start a petition amongst the 'few' people who don't like my posts, I give you the list if you like Damage to who captain?...........Disagreeing with some hardy fellows like yourself, you really believe this Board is that important, er no it's not, this is about footy and a footy club. This is a topic about David Schwarz, I have heard him speaking about helping the Club for the last month or so, I want to see action rather than words, simple as that, too much to ask?
-
Why is that? Love the board, only been on two topics today, and one of the usual suspects can't help himself with a wonderfully worded well researched post, I would be shattered if it was somebody I actually cared about what they said, but seeing it is only you CBF, I'll follow your initials Addiction , can be used as an excuse, if you have the character you can stop doing anything that is addictive, it just takes a bit of effort, I know because been there, done that, and got the t shirt Anyway anything constructive to add to the topic, go on set a precedent for yourself
-
You take up gambling, you can walk away any time, like smoking, drinking, etc etc, any addiction, if you have the bottle you can walk away.....he was a great player agree, 10 years ago, will remember him for that..........he has only offered, where is the action, all talk at the moment and potting the coach (my opinion) As for Melbourne supporter, yes I am, but just don't fawn over the players, they are just footy players, Jimmy Stynes excepted who became much more I am quite happy with the work crew who are attempting to get us out of the hole at the moment, if he wants to help, pick up a shovel
-
I've tweeted the invite, you never know he may read the board If you regard him as an inspiration, fine, others don't, my point is yes he has come through something but it was self inflcted, he had the opportunity to walk away when he could and he didn't, and he also had a lot of help to overcome...... and then some reckon he should be a role model...or the Messiah...er not for me thanks.....................hard times is relative, we have all faced adversity, it just depends on whether you want to advertise it or not
-
Then let's see him do something tangible rather than keep talking about it, I'll wait for him to turn up tonight and prove me wrong
-
I agree with Hardtack and Jazza, all of us are not Neeld apologists, but we have watched the Club try to start again with Bailey, fail for a myriad of reasons, then start again with Neeld who decided to start at the very bottom again and do want posters on this board want, instil a winning culture. Look back at the teams who have achieved this, it took time and a lot of heartache, we are just over 18 months in, we get glimpses, we might if you add all the quarters up, have just about played one full game at the desired level. Neeld is not a magiician with an unlimited budget, yes attract good players, but they want good money, we are not in the position to do that, so we will have to develop our own, but it takes time He has got two realy good people in Misson (the injury list and the fitness of the players show his bit is starting to work) and Craig (his work is behinkd the scenes, to see some go and watch Casey at the moment and some of the young guys) I have been absolutely horrified by some of the football that has been served up in the first few games, my wrist and forearm are still bruised and sore from smashing them into the seat in front of me during the Essendon game. But I believe we are on the right track, we just need to let everyting develop and hold our nerve As I have mentioned before, ringing around trying to get members on board, speak to a lot of supporters/members, the belief is starting to return, understanding it may not be pretty, but now is not the time to panic, and they are gtetting back on board
-
Debate...tiresome....sums up this Board really doesn't it.....on field, hasn't played for what 10 years, game gone....off field - the players are much better informed these days, and besides which the Club brought him in to chat to the 1st year players early in the preseason. His media persona says he is now a better person Most people who have faced real adversity, not self inflicted financial problems, do not need to broadcast their triumph against it
-
Love the call that a some of the problems Schwarz faced were self inflicted
-
This is what I say about this board, "oh no he has disagreed with the small majority we have on here", he can't be right, he can't have a differing opinion, .............. we are right, David Schwarz is the Messiah, get him in now" He has no idea whether the players are playing for the coach or not, (we have not got a functioning or experienced enough midfield at the moment, that is the problem at the moment - personal opinion) I didn't want to read anything into it, I listened, again where was he 5 years ago? We have had Barassi front and centre with Jim, Leoncelli, Robbo, Greg Healy, Todd Viney, Gary Lyon.....so don't quote we need ex players in.......I just want him to either put up or shut up,....we are ringing around tonight again, maybe he can pop in and give us a hand, (arrange a couple of cameras)........that way he can actually show he wants to help the Club, would be a good small step
-
Your opinion and you would know about that sort of thing That is a pot, how would he know the answer to either question, he should have played a straight bat, this guy is "not the Messiah", where was he four or five years ago, didn't see him standing shoulder to shoulder with Jimmy Stynes then, let's compare with another players who "bleeds red and blue", Robbo, must be hurting on the inside like the rest of us, but never shows it, he has stepped in and up, does a lot of work unheralded, and always puts a positive face on for MFC All I am seeing from the Ox is cheap talk
-
I am not posting as regular as usual because I believe trying to counter the negative posters on here is a waste of my time But the Ox only cares about the Ox, if you support a Club, and supposedly bleed red and blue, yes have an opinion , but why pot the coach in a public forum, that is not on, lost what little respect I had for him It hints of sour grapes, he has already been into the Club, perhaps the Club did not take up his offer of help because what he could offer was of no value, coach? what qualifications does he have, you need them these days, assume he is already enrolled in a coaching course, I doubt it, too busy trying to raise his media profile.....must have another book out soon
-
Chap, only posting today, coz saw your name on a topic, I have given up posting on here, you are wasting your breath, if you look at the negative posts . it is the same 10 or 12, they hijack every thread to drive their agendas......will PM you with a decent board, having a look at another one.......in all this we are 1 and 4, along with North Melb,West Coast and GWS coached by 2 supposed gun coaches and a former great................we all know what the issue is at the moment....it is the midfield, not the coaches......we may or may not get it right....
-
And there was me thinking that Essendon's midfield a couple of years ago was being criticised for being slow, isn't it marvellous if things are just given a chance to develop
-
There is nothing amiss, do you really think that Brisbane don't know who played well at Casey last week and might get a call up, MFC have named an extended squad, may as well keep Brisbane guessing at the line up until an hour or two before the game
-
He was walking but he had a moon boot on, obviously easing the pressure on the foot, was laughing and joking with the Fitness Staff whilst they watched training, so definitely not worried by it....... cart was going back, so easier than walking
-
Actually they practised and practised what we all reckon we are lacking, run and spread from a stoppage, but if you want to be cynical about your team, that is your choice,
-
Exactly what Jimmy Toumpas told me yesterday at training, asked him where he was playing and immediately said "Casey", Club wants him to have a run, and enjoy, "my confidence took a bit of a hit, just looking at enjoying footy and having a run" Clisby didn't take part in training yesterday, didn't get chance to ask him, left on the Golf Cart with Mitch Clark, looked to be walking ok, this is new regime working, probably reported something and was immediately pulled out of training
