Agreed, except they have had one draft that Neeld had total control over with the recruiters, he would have wiped out half the list in the first year, but it was too difficult a call

RM, I tried explaining it, and so have you, I am afraid some just don't want to listen.WYL, let me know who you are in real life, and I'll get you a chat with some of the players, particularly Jack Watts, his spirit is not broken Also is there anything in the last 10 years the Club has done that you actually liked? I'll try the leadership again, there were two 'surveys' done across the whole footy dept, everybody was asked to mark each player on a scale on 10 behaviours, behaviours being part of establishing a culture. Trengove and Grimes came out on top each time, so therefore if you want to establish the culture both on and off the field you have the two blokes who in everybody's view demonstrate the highest standard of these behaviours as captains to lead by example, the rest of the leadership followed them in the rankings Rivers' knees were starting to go , we can see that, with the sports science we now have in place, we probably knew that, hence the offer, he was a free agent, you want to blow a large amount of salary cap on a guy who may not last the season and was possibly in his last year anyway, I think we handled it well, personally I wanted him to stay, but him going has allowed the development of Col Garland As for Freo WYL, Mark Harvey says hello, he had been patiently building that side for a few years and then got stabbed, agree Ross Lyon has done a good job, but he didn't have to start from scratch I'll try once more, Neeld and Craig do not want to play with 22 behind the ball, they want players to take the game on, but inexperienced players panic if they make a mistake or two, N and C are coaching/encouraging/cajoling them not to worry about making mistakes, just get to the next contest, but it needs to be ingrained, it takes time....the other hard bit is to stop the experienced guys from worrying about blowouts and leaving the structures to stop the momentum, this is hard to do when you are surrounded by inexperience, as it needs all 22 on the same page.....these are human beings not robots you can program.....,we get to see little bits all the time,,,,,Jeremy Howe for me had a breakout game against Freo amongst all the carnage, he listened and acted. Thaipantsman--how do you know Neeld addresses the players like a yr 9 school teacher, when have you witnessed this? -

Neeldy covered this, this is the problem with inexperience, the senior players can sense the momentum shift and try and do the right thing and flood back to stop a belting, the less experienced panic and start shell inhabiting and the three or four mentioned before go down fighting.....and we get the 1st qtr against Freo......it is getting all 22 on the same page......hence Neeld telling me to my face he had expressed his 'disappointment' to a couple of the senior players -

Neeld is excellent with supporters, you ask a question you get an answer, no spin, same with Neil Craig. I am shy and retiring NOT myself and my lovely lady asked at least another three question two on one and walked away impressed by not only the answer but the amount of thought Mark had put into them -

You have answered your own question, we have a lot of high draft picks, but you need continuity and experience, hardly any of them have had a clean run, everybody at the moment seems to agree Nathan Jones is our best player, why, he is durable, he has completed at least every preseason for the last four or five years and has hardly missed a game.......don't you think Neeld would love it if Strauss, Blease, Watts etc were all about to play their 70th or 80th game together, coz that is what they should be approaching if the gods had smiled -

I suggest you get your Dad down to the Transport at Fed Sq before the game on Sunday, here you will find supporters with all sorts of differing views of what is wrong/what went wrong/how to fix it........but they are standing behind the team right at this moment coz that is what is needed.........that is the disappointment I feel when posting on this board.........supporters who say they love the team and do nothing but pick holes in it from the Chairman down..........hindsight is a wonderful thing........but we have AGM annually, I have been to the last six or seven and the silence has been deafening -

After speaking to Neeld and Craig last night, this was disappointing to them as well, the communciations failure between box and ground level didn't help either, but both don't want to play so many behind the ball, and why he was unhappy with a couple of 'senior' players for not dragging the structures back into place. They used half time to 'convince' the players to go back to the agreed structures, hence the 3rd qtr is something to show them that it works, it is not that the players don't support or have faith in Neeld, but the inexperience kicks in and players go into their shell.......both Neeld and Craig, and we discussed this, want the players to back themselves.......problem is we only have 3 or 4 and I won't name, but Neeld and Craig agreed who, if they make a mistake...go stuff it and get straight at the next contest.......they need all 22 doing it, they see little signs that the rest are catching up.....but as Neeld says with the inexperience it only takes a couple of mistakes on the trot and the player goes immediately into the shell.......which throws the rest of the team out -

Told you about reading my posts, I think you will find I did, about 50-60000, a bit of clariication, what I want to see and I think the FD is working towards is WWWWLWWW, not WLLLLLLLL..... although we may see that until they get the mix right Some posters need to realise though that changing the Coach will not be a magic bullet, it never has been, it takes at least 1 or 2 years, no matter the coach -

The spoke truthfully, there is no hope in it, they are not happy with it either and they are single minded in their approach to fix the problems, but it ain't gonna happen overnight, it is not about win or loss, it is about building something lasting, when it is built PROPERLY..it will show in the wins and losses........this is the frustrating part for me, this is what the supporters have been asking for, a complete change................ but it doesn't happen overnight, Neeld in reality has only had this season with anything near the playing list he wants, and after speaking to him last night, it's still not quite there -

At the moment I support Don McLardy who is the President Mark Neeld who is the coach If I don't like something the Club does/has done, I will express my feelings by email/at the AGM/any chance I get face to face I also ask questions, if I am not satisfied with the answers I am given, I take it further until I receive what I perceive to be a satisfactory answer At the moment I am satisfied with the answers I have been given If the Club changes President or Coach, if I am dissatisfied with that decision or don't like the reason givens, again I will do the above -

"Pick your battles"...is this a threat? The shaking of the head is not literate, but the fact no matter what the Club does, in some supporters eyes it is never right You are entitled to your opinion, so am I, I don't have to agree with it, or I am supposed to just be a good boy I really don't care if I infuriate people, and I am not particularly interested in your advice either, this is a public forum, I put up with a lot of personal abuse and just wear it.......how about I post some of the 'interesting' pms I have received, you might get a better idea on some of the 'posters' I seem to have infuriated I don't like the unfounded negativity, it only feeds the media, if there is a legtimate gripe, I'll agree with it. You didn't seem to have a problem with ex players bagging your Club's coach or Club, Robbo was just reciprocating, there aren't two rules I haven't put up with a great deal from the Club, I have just supported my footy club, thought that's what supporters did I went to a forum last night, and as Longsuffering also stated we were told a lot of things, not media spin, it even persuaded Longsuffering to change her opinion, I was trying to get across what happened there Edit - I keep reading it and adding -

That hasn't stopped Moloney, Rivers and Morton speaking about a Coach of another Club, I love this, we get told on here the Club is too soft and then when a Club employee comes out swinging you want him censured.....no wonder those inside the Club shake their heads at times -

Nathan owned up to the Gold Coast game as being his worst for the season, As for the captaincy, from what we could gather from last night, Neeld did not make the final choice, over 50 people had input, he said 'culture', so the two guys everybody at the Club thinks can lead the 'culture' they want got made captain......isn't this what everybody wants............ One of the best parts of last night was listening to Neil Craig, no [censored], no spin -

Both Craig and Neeld made a point of praising Nathan Jones for his development as a Leader over the last couple of years, and he had 'earned' the vice captaincy, making the point that you need to lead both on and off the field these days. Help me out here RGRS.... -

I have always rated both Neeld and Craig as I have spoken to both of them on a number of occasions. One of the points both made last night was they were originally given a mandate by the Club (assume this was Board and CEO) and this mandate has not changed, and they are sticking to that mandate. Neeld stressed strongly ie he repeated he was told "culture, culture, culture" and this is what they are attempting to implement, neither are overjoyed where we are at the moment they both regard themselves because of the inexperience of the list as 'development coaches', a point Nathan Jones agreed with. My lovely lady has become increasingly frustrated watching the games and the players 'supposedly' giving up, so she made a point of asking Mark Neeld directly after the talk for his take on why this is happening, he made the point that no matter how the players are coached, if they go into their 'shell' in a game, he only has the breaks to try and rectify, and after the first quarter against Fremantle there wasn't much he could do, so he and Craig used half time to try and show the players that if they went back to the structures and game plan they had started the game with it would work and the players responded and we won the 3rd quarter....it is 'convincing' (his word not mine coz I can't remember exactly what he said) to stick fast with the structures He made a point of telling me he was disappointed with Mark Jamar against Fremantle and he had told him so, he expected a guy of his experience to lead the team from the funk they get in and not just get 1 possession in a game against two young ruckmen. He also made a point that if the ladder was based on pure football 'talent' it would be GWS 1st and Gold Coast 2nd, but because of GWS' inexperience it isn't, and we are the second most inexperienced so this is what you get -
And you know better for what reasons?.....my point really.....your judgement better than everyone else's, and you call me...name calling again as well, really shows your superior intelligence doesn't it

The whole reason this board is falling to bits is comments like the above, but never mind, so here goesI went to a forum last night organised by the Club, in attendance were Mark Neeld, Neil Craig and Nathan Jones, they were asked questions by Robbo and then audience members were able to ask questions as well One of the questions (persistently) was about the leadership Mark Neeld said there was a listing of 10 behaviours, and every member of the Footy Dept rated all 44 players, Trengove and Grimes came out on top and you can assume the rest of the leadership group were below them, the point was made this exercise was done twice and the gap between Trengove and Grimes and the rest narroved over time, think it was first up at pre season and post Darwin. There were lots of other questions as well, covering quite a few subjects. -

I have the answer to your question, received it at a Club function straight from Neeld and Craig, haven't bothered posting anything on the function, because the anti-Neeld/anti MFC everything brigade will only hijack the thread and turn it into a bashing again -
I am quite willing and able to post about footy, but on this board at the moment it is quite pointless, as every thread/topic gets hijacked by the anti-Neeld brigade, it doesn't matter what the title is, there will be post after post saying 'sack him, sack them, sack everybody", So therefore if you can't discuss footy without that happening, then you have a bit of fun with the said posters, simple really, note this is on topic
-
Interesting that it is only the anti-Neeld brigade that has a problem, belittling and demeaning, oh you poor dears, the players keep getting told to harden up, some posters could do with it as well, narcissistic, no, just bored to tears with the same old same old on every post, so try and liven it up a bit.....will always get bites.......if you think I take any of this seriously, sorry you are very mistaken Check out the names I have been called.....oh no! Mr Moderator please stop them calling me names.....

Sorry Doc, what's up, seems to me you were...................another thin skinned poster, must be contagious Nice nickname by the way "John Dee was a much respected scientist in his own time, but subsequently derided as a conjurer and a trickster" The perils of being well read Anyway boys and girls something to do for rest of night, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei's

Sorry been at a Club function tonight, it was really good but nobody will want to hear about that IQ is 3 figures and unlike some first two digits are not 0, that is the point of my posts, said it before find it entertaining, which bit don't other posters get I spoke to Nathan Jones tonight, he is not dissatisfied, how do we know the coach is going to be sacked, oh that's right, some journalist said so..ho hum, the debt is projected, maybe not....crowd figure for QB about 50-60000 My posts aren't funny, now that's wounding, I could possibly sulk, well maybe not..rant, bile, spit, venom, etc etc how's the weather tonight over your keyboard WYL? still cloudy and miserable...no sorry that's you...see I can stay on topic
