  1. Another pre season into both Hunt and Salem and the can rotate thru midfiekd and wing. Melksham is a professional footy player he'll be ok, players soend a year out with ACL, reckion he will be one player in top shape day 1
  2. He needs something to trade with, so we would have to trade a big name, does this hint belong in the Hogan thread? All players we think should be traded would, according to some posters on here, have very little trade value, also Goodwin was more bullish about the draft, and Taylors magic around the 40's and 50's and rookie We have already picked up a B class rookie, who if he deveops like Joel Smith, who himself is showing promise, with Hibberd, Melkshan, Lumumba back to full fitness, we can afford to draft kids again
  3. Your continued bleating about the drugs issue is really tiresome The reason a lot of the drugs are put on the banned list, is that they are experimental and the authorities have no concrete proof that they work or not, it is supposition. Your constant use of 'juiced up' is childish, as you have no idea how much and when, if any, that Melksham was given a performace enhancing drug or just a banned substance, and if it did have a significant impact on his onfield performance. Caffeine is supposedly a performace enhancing drug, and I drink copious amounts of coffee, but I still think Usain Bolt has got me covered
  4. You gonna hold ur breath if he isn't, Goodwin wouldn't have recommended him if he didn't think so
  5. You listen to the radio?.........hopefully only when you are travelling in a car WJ, or is it a comfy chair, roaring open fire, a balloon of Courvoisier..and SEN Haven't listened to radio since the days of 3XY in the Seventies
  6. Gee nearly 3 pages, maybe it is Pink doing a bit of self promotion?, which he has achieved, Some criticising a guy who rings into a radio station with some strange ideas on trading etc, glad Demonland is not made of glass
  7. About time you did that, nice little discussion you had there my take I'll wear some of the lookaway moments from the defenders as we get experience into them both individually and as a flexible unit
  8. If anyone is interested had a chat to Goodwin at family day, was disappointef with first quarter and a bit, mixture of nerves, rust and not playing ypour role, still stuck to competing though. Once coaches settled them down was pleased how team stuck .to gamecplan/style, still a bit of work to do, said everybody contributed and played their role.
  9. different player, different club, has zero relevance to this discussion. If you are anybody in the 'footy world' who is outside our club there is a very strong chance you have a low amount of respect for us. That's just a fact. If you don't believe me, pretend you barrack for someone else and ask some random blokes at the pub tonight. You will not get a glowing assessment. Hogan, like everyone else, is part of that group. It will stay that way until we can prove otherwise and make it up around the top 4 for a number of consecutive years. These are hard truths, that you know to be true. Why? Young forward being tempted away to another club Nah sorry, not interested in the opinion of types who occassionally look at the screen between bullshitting to each other and pouring alcohol down their necks Don't give a toss about what others think of my team All I know is that Jesse Hogan is happy at Melbourne at the moment, just like the rest of the team wants success, if we achieve that soon, he will stay
  10. So Tom Boyd took the truckfull of cash coz he thought "hang on, the Bulldogs have only won one flag and that was in the 50's, they'll stay that way, but I may as well join them anyway, even if it means leaving a side chock full of top draft picks"
  11. I did say I was told that from a few sources, it may well be, not for me to decide, although you seem to have.
  12. Northbridge on a Saturday night early Sunday morning has always impressed me as a place to be, Freo slide eeek!!!! McQ I have them favourites for the flag, you did see the video of Fyfe at training?
  13. Actually when they are off duty, I leave them alone apart from saying hello, was sitting in one of the locals cafes and so was Jesse and a guy (obviously a Demon supporter) kept peering over the top of his newspaper at him, was like watching a poor 50's spy film, myself and my lady thought it was hilarious not sure Jesse thought that though
  14. It is all anecdotal, so who knows the correct answer, still think he will be here for a good few years, don't think the pull is strong
  15. Not that brave, we will just have to wait and see as with all top players these days He loves Perth, coz his family is there, he actually finds the environment compared to Melbourne boring, (from quite a few sources), I know for a fact he is a big fan of the coffee culture here, live in same area and know which ones he likes to frequent
  16. To anybody who thinks we will eventually lose Jesse back to WA, he really likes Melbourne, didn't think much of Perth growing up, has settled well into the Melbourne lifestyle, especially the live music and coffee culture...has established really good friendships with JKH, James Harmes and Petracca....has total respect for one Nathan Jones and wants to give him the success he craves.........and wants to payback the club for the way they have looked after him during his back issues...don't think the money would be an issue with him....just got the feeling back in my arm after shaking hands with him and wishing him Happy Birthday on Friday
  17. I think you will find that if last year is anything to go by, Jones or Vince will be sent to the opposition gun midfielder rather than the other way around, with Viney getting the job now and gain dependent on the opponent, hence the need for Jones to build his running up to another level
  18. So what you are saying is that if 5 or 6 of our next level players actually improve out of sight during the pre season and the NAB challenge you wouldn't mind if Jones wasn't a lock for the first round?
  19. Nathan Jones had a bulging deformed disc in his neck that could be managed, but we hardly had any midfield replacements who were fit banging the door down at Casey. Even though we had a healthy list we now know Roos' opinion of some of the midfield 'talent' we had on our list at the start of last season. Now we have what we have all been crying out for for the last couple of seasons, real depth, true some of it is still unproven, but at least it will keep the 'locks' honest Oliver being one of those unproven
  20. There are differing opinions, not wrong opinions I haven't changed or twisted my words, I still stand by my opinion that finally we have reached a stage with the squad that nobody can be guaranteed a spot and you will have to earn it, hopefully both Nathan Jones and Jesse Hogan will be injury free, fully fit and in top form to be included in the 22 for the first game
  21. This is what I love about this site, I didn't say Hogan and Jones wouldn't be playing, I said the 'best' 22 will be on the park, that is the fittest and most in form, in the opinion of the coaching panel, not the supporters
  22. Serious answer - the 22 for Rd 1 will consist of the fittest and most in form players at that moment, as I stated in another post, the players are on notice, you have to earn your spot and perform consistently to keep it. You will also notice that on the club website report for the final training session at Maroochydore, Nathan Jones was praised for his improved field running, a best and fairest winner who has had to improve this part of his game to make sure he gets a game
  23. Personally I don't think anybody is a lock this year, but if you want to that's your choice
  24. Haven't been reading for a while so catch up with posts, I have spoken to the players about this season, everybody has been told there are no guarantees whether your name is Nathan Jones or Clayton Oliver, over the pre season and NAB cup games, you have to grab your chance, the 22 picked for game 1 will be the fittest and in form, no more players carrying injuries or getting games on reputation, if Oliver looks good enough he will get a game
