  1. When an oppo player you are mauling (GWS Toby Greene) shakes your hand mid game after a ripping physical contest, you know you are making the most of whatever talent you have. He should stay exactly where he is, for no other reason than he is the most likeable hard arz in the league.
  2. Just for a laugh Picket, what would you trade each player for, if you were list manager? take your time, as popcorn takes a while to cook.
  3. The Lions defender? Huge fan, but not sure if we need him in the midfield.
  4. Please quote where I said we should only look at flaws? Its Goodwin who is unsatisfied with Watts' flaws. It makes zero difference what the rest of us think. It's no more than a discussion point. Vince will be gone this time next year. Garlett plays to a higher standard than Watts consistently Tyson commits to a contest, and performs at a level that has him being picked every week when fit. Every player has flaws. Our coach sees Jack Watts' flaws as terminal. That's the difference.
  5. If it's the 750k rumoured, our young blokes need to suck it up, and play their asses off to justify the comparison at their next contract. If we are losing games for a finals spot against a garbage side decimated by injury, we clearly do not have lots of players worth more than 750k in it. I'm excited by the potential of many of our youngsters, but it remains Potential, not realised. Only the loss of Oliver would make me weep, as I believe he is a generational talent. Everyone knows you pay more for external talent when you are at our level. Everyone. Our footy department has decided we are entering a premiership window, and as such we can put the medium term on hold, and trade away the early picks. If that doesn't excite the playing list, they are playing for the wrong reasons. Goodwin thinks he can coach us to a flag with the addition of Lever, and other targeted talent. I'm bloody excited about that, and the playing list should be too.
  6. And I have no doubt at all that is the case. It's always a huge concern about out of joint noses when attracting new talent. But it flies in the face of what Lewis was saying, and that's my point.
  7. Thats not the point at all. Lewis tells players to accept LESS, in order to attract outside players who will be best 22 Then you suggest players will be ANGRY, if said new best 22 player takes the money Lewis has been telling them to sacrifice. makes Zero sense at all. We have no defender who is better than Lever at what he does. None. So why the concern?
  8. you contradict your own post D167 Lewis gives a speech saying existing players should accept less, in order to attract more "best 22" players from other clubs, then you wonder if the existing players will be p****ed off, because of the arrival of a new "best 22" player from another club, on good coin? Rethink, and re-post
  9. I reckon he may simply be saying it's their final drink before heading home. People look too deep into things sometimes.
  10. Hang on Sue. We are talking about WATTS, because WATTS is the one who has been pushed towards a trade by Goodwin. WATTS is one of the most highly skilled, but physically weakest of all AFL players of his size. Goodwin has singled out WATTS, as someone who has been seriously under performing compared to his talent/ability level. You know, Goodwin the full time professional AFL coach? I would bet the vast majority of Dees supporters are hoping that Watts ends up finding a way to convince the coach not to trade him, and has a fantastic career, solely with MFC. (I am one of them) I would bet that less would be confident that he would actually take the opportunity if it was offered, for more than a handful of games a year. (I'm one of them also) I would bet that less still would complain if it meant that the departure of Watts was the catalyst needed, to finally grow the backbone we need to win a flag. (yep, I'm that guy too) I have no doubt Jack Watts is a cracking bloke. I wish he could find the heart to attack every contest in a way befitting of a professional 196cm player. Or at a minimum, commit his body to every contest, even if it means it may hurt. It will be a bloody sad day if Watts leaves. He is probably the most liked player since Robbie Flower. (yes I actually mean that) But.....If our side can be improved, at what point does the supporter base tell the coaches, yeah, stuff the flag, I just want to cheer for a bunch of great blokes every week?
  11. By then they will control all of Europe, and Canada. They will be more than happy to [censored] the locals who toil away on the windmills and solar plants.
  12. You forgot the fact that he still refuses to compete to an acceptable physical level And the fact he STILL doesnt put both hands up in a pack marking contest. Or the fact he still applies almost zero forward pressure. Or the fact he still tackles like a fairy. If you are going to quote "just the facts", you need to make a better effort at not cherry picking the facts that suit one side of an argument. We cannot allow the "good bloke" argument to keep players on our list.
  13. If he was meeting OUR expectations, he would be worth the ubiquitous Two x first round picks.
  14. We had bouts of unusual high pressure moments for sure, and when "on" we looked amazing. But we are still scoffed at by the other teams because we fail when it counts. The big moments. Geelong were viewed similarly prior to morphing into a superteam. Our current list of regular senior players is not in the same hemisphere. Keep the pressure up, and we will fold. I think Goodwin knows this, and has decided to do something about it.
  15. The Saints have rolled us several times recently with a similar full field pressure game. I hope it's not the way of the future as we do not have a list even remotely capable of keeping up that kind of intensity for long enough to win 3 or 4 finals. We are a deck of cards that can be counted on to fold, provided the other mob are mentally strong enough to see off our inconsistent bouts of manic football. Letting Watts go will be a win if we can replace him with a first 18 player who knows what 100% effort means. I back Goodwin.
  16. Jober as a sudge Not a drop mate
  17. Two thousand and seventeen Do you type that also?
  18. We failed in our finals quest because we are the weakest mentally of all clubs, and people are busting a foofa over the possible trading of undoubtedly our most fragile player? I'm convinced that many of our supporters would prefer to have good "feelings" than a flag.
  19. Don't be so [censored] lazy. This is not a text message. Are you 11 yrs old?
  20. Next year's tigers will be this years bulldogs.
  21. AFL just needs to orchestrate a move to G.W.S now to get the fully sick boys on board.
  22. It IS what you said Out: Pick ten, Watts, 3rd rounder In: Lever.
  23. Some might think you are being a tad generous by saying Watts, Pick 10 and 3rd round pick, in exchange for Lever.
  24. And still putting one or even zero hands up in a contested marking situation. People who do that, don't play well in finals. I will back Goodwin
