Interesting GT. I said to my seven year old that we should leave at three quarter time but she wanted to stay to the bitter end.

To be honest, i was numb and could not believe how we had slipped back after finally showing signs of improvement earlier in the year.

I also told her I was sorry how poor we were. She said "they will get better Dad I know it". I wish I shared her optimism...

I'm amazed at this numbness that all of us including me have developed...I believe it's a superpower, a shield of armour against the constant bombardment of crap that our team dishes up. The thing I can't understand is, why we still care enough to keep going and to fork out our money to watch it and support them.

I agree. But looking at it from the leagues perspective if they were ever going to give us one it would have been last year after we were flogged every week. At least this year we've won 4 and been within shot of winning come last qtr.

What about if Richmond were awake that day we beat them?

What if Carlton kicked straight?

What if Essendon put us away in one of the worst halves (the first) of football under Roos?

What if Adelaide had Walker?

What if...

What if we are historically bad and the rule to help the league in this scenario needs to be applied?

What if we had not ran out of steam in the other 6 or so matches we were in front come last qtr.....Always two sides to the argument.

However for what it's worth, I think we warrant getting one still.

We definitely deserve a PP.

I am so furious and embarrassed by that performance that I have not been able to face demonland til now. I spoke with Simon Meredith this morning who is my IT man. Simon was umpiring his first game after nearly dying a couple of months ago. Its very rare for him to umpire a bottom of the table clash, but the AFL decided to give him a warm up game with us on the weekend. It was the first time he had umpired us since 2006. He said in all his years umpiring he had never seen anything like Melbourne's performance. He realised something was seriously wrong early in the game as no Melbourne players were complaining about Giant free kicks. He had never seen this before. Further he said there was little talk between the Melbourne players and no on field leadership. Jonesy and the other senior players needed to do more.

I don't think our team has complained about a free kick since 2006, mainly because they don't care.

Said in the other thread Salem hasn't shown much except kick a match winner against essendon. Other then that he has not shown why he was worthy of pick 9 especially the likes of Luke Dunstan Lewis Taylor were picked later and made huge contribution for their side.

He looks so out of depth we have gifted him games when the likes of Jimmy Toumpas were dropped after 1 or 2 games. Yes he missed first half of Pre Season but taylor missed the whole chunk with a broken foot.

Toumpas copped it last year. He showed alot more then Salem has done for his first year.

I believe it's the club and its development program and not the players fault - how many times do we lay blame at these players and/or our recruiters.

So many top ten draft picks that haven't developed, too coincidental IMO.

I was listening to SEN prematch and the commentators were baffled and questioned why 20 minutes before the bounce our players were handing out jumpers to supporters on the ground.

I wasn't at the game and maybe it was because of this Member appreciation week, but I don't think this is great for their headspace going into the match .

I want to go back to the "Will you care if we finish last vote".

1 - clearly all those who didn't were not there today - not good enough (but lucky).

2 - it was Member appreciation day - maybe 17,000 odd members - no appreciation after the game started - but still so many of the 22 just not good enough.

3 - I saw the all time VFL/AFL record loss at Waverley in 1979 v Fitzroy - 190 points - but was young enough to get distracted by other things afterwards - not so now - absolutely gutted.

4 - how many members won't renew in 2015 after today (I already have) - how many young Demons will give up on the the Club for ever after today - the damage done massive.

After yesterday's performance it wouldn't surprise me if the players are regulars on this forum, and they made up the majority of the 30 or so that voted in the don't care

I actually had a dream about this game last night where we absolutely smashed them. I believe we played an eight goal to two first quarter and still didn't go back into our shells. It was the best result I've seen in years!

Don't think I'll be watching/listening/checking the scores at any point today. Wouldn't want to kill my buzz.
