Why do we always play Geelong in Geelong.....
-
poor delivery into our forward line, just booting without looking who to. need to lower their eyes and make sure they hit a target. it would also be nice if a couple of these players could move the ball on quicker. taking too much time to kick down the line gives geelong lots of time to flood back.
-
a lot of players just not putting in not chasing, not tackling. We know they are going to run, but our players are not running with them. we need our team to step up and put these [censored] down
-
dont mean to be rude but can they kick the f'ing ball instead of handballing
-
seven frees for the entire match, wow adelaide are extremely good tacklers, i dont know if they have had a holding the ball against them yet, or an incorrect disposal. our players getting tackled and thrown around without the ball and getting nothing is shameful.
-
If we know we are losing the ruck then play to their ruckman, stats early in that quarter had us winning more than adelaide from their taps. its around the ground that we need to lift. we can get buy without a ruckman in the ruck, but we sorely miss a marking ruckman around the ground, neither of the Browns or weid are doing that job and it is cost us big time in turnovers.
-
need to stop kicking down the line to their talls who are intercepting everything. This is exactly what we want opposition teams to do when max is playing. How dumb, pass it around. Sparrow does some good things but has not idea about moving the ball quickly, he has had multiple opportunities to do a short kick down the line to a free player but holds it up and does a long kick down the line. Must admit the umpiring is pretty poor, tex's ruck free for blocking was a disgrace, we see their ruckman putting their arms around our ruckman and throwing them out of the way but thats ok. Ben Brown is being manhandled as is oliver and they are getting nothing. We have far too many players who have done absolutely nothing they need to lift. the coach needs to remind them that we have players in the VFL that are ready to take their place.
-
disappointing effort that quarter, we started well but then just stopped chasing. letting them run the ball out of defense too easily our forwards are not applying any pressure on them. We have to stop letting them have the easy kicks out of defense. they keep whittling away our lead, now is the time for those players not doing a lot to stand up.
-
lost that quarter, so often we lose the 2nd quarter, hopefully we will have one of our fantastic 3rd quarters and put them to the sword.
-
a disappointing result mainly due to the way the players played, only a few really stood up. shows we do not have the depth that we thought we had.
-
we have been here before and we have won well. we have had a lot of bad 2nd quarters over the last year or so. so lets not go giving up hope yet. we have a lot of players down and that can easily turn around.
-
a disappointing result, our kicking for goal is still a concern, far too many players who just did not put in or could not find the ball all night. I suspect a few of those may be going back to the VFL and we may not see them again too soon. It is a good chance to try some other players from Casey and see how they go, cannot be worse than a couple who played today.
-
not winning as well as some teams against the bottom teams, we seem to be kicking a lot more points. is it that our players now think they have a bang at goal from anywhere, compared to the more team oriented style we have against top teams?
-
yes there has been some poor umpiring, but we should still be doing a lot better, if our backline was not as good as it was we could potentially be behind with the number of forward 50 entries. We need to get back to playing team football. Kozzie's selfish attempt at a goal was not a good example. Our best play all day has been when we have played as a team. we need to get back to that. and try not to give the umpires too many excuses to give frees and goals against us.
-
trace had leg/knee problems a game or so ago, maybe we should take it easy on him and give him a rest and a chance to fully recover. we shouldnt be taking a risk with him, he is too important a player to lose
-
I would prefer mcdonald going back to find some form, he does not chase and has not provided a lot of drive this year, hope he can recapture his form. Dropping him may give him the drive to try a bit harder, chase a little more. Weids needs a chance to show what he can do, this was obviously not the game for forwards, with our poor inside 50's.
-
We conceded 35 points because they did not kick straight if they had it would have been far different, we only had 2 scoring shots more than they did and they had a whole range of good players out. I must say i was disappointed we did not do better. definitely some good defense and running but our entry into the forward line was pretty disappointing. We showed such dominance at times but could not put it on the score board, that is where it counts.
-
very disappointing, reminds me of a couple of years ago when essendon was crippled by players suspended or out due to injury and their drug bans and our players came out expecting to win and they beat us. This looks like that sort of night. We have so much talent out that they should not even be close. The amount of time in our forward line for very little return. need to shake up that forward line our smalls are really doing very little. 3rd quarters is reputedly our best, so i hope to hell they come out and play like the demons we know they are, instead of the demons of old.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Interesting that they have us taking Roberts at 17 but then follow that with Mitch Knevitt going to brisbane with much better stats and better write up than Roberts. -

trading forward next years pick will help us hopefully recruit new young players who will help us go forward in coming years. Yes we have lost next years first round, which hopefully would be around 18-20 mark depending on AFL handouts and freebies. That does not mean we cannot trade up to get another top 10 or 20 pick. unfortunately, having a good winning side comes with consequences i.e. players will be wanting more money, other players will be looking to move to other clubs because they cannot get a regular run in the seniors, etc. We are likely to see more players leave in the coming years, this will give us some potential players we can trade to again enhance future draft picks. while we have an exceptional team, getting some young talent in to fill potential future gaps is not a bad way to go. so far pretty impressed with where we are at, and i doubt we have finished wheeling and dealing, so lets see how far they can drive this trade period

I disagree i think he has lead us to this moment, with his leadership, loyalty and club spirit that has been built up over the years of him as a player and a captain. This is a close knit team that became that way over the years not just the last year or two. Jonesy was responsible for a fair bit of that. it is now up to his team mates to finish the job he started not only for Jones but all of the other players who were in and out of the team over the year and who were injured at the wrong time or could not make the team because those there were playing so well. I know Jonesy will be disappointed not being there, but he would also have been very disappointed in missing his childrens birth, but he will equally proud of both the team getting there and his new family.

while the dogs have been pretty good, port has been pretty ordinary and that is being polite to them. So many of their players fumbled the ball all nite long, they didnt chase, did not cover their man, could not hold marks, and constantly kicked to the opposition. Woeful performance. But credit to the dogs, they beat what was on the field. They will win by a healthy margin which will hopefully ensure our players respect them and dont get to far ahead of themselves. Play like we did Friday and the dogs play the way they did tonight and it will be a great final, with i believe Melbourne winning. We have a far better backline, ruck and midfield and forward line that should see us home.

What i loved was the team work. Even before the game, our team all had their arms around each other shoulders in solidarity while Geelong players all just stood by themselves. That same team work was there all game for the Melbourne players, diving on the ball, smothering, tackling, chasing. Best game of football i can recall seeing in my 55+ years of watching and barracking for the Dees. Though being 64+ ones memory is not what it was. Gawn, brought tears of joy to my eyes watching the replay and his 3rd quarter. Do it again in a fortnight, please.

Probably one of the best performances i have seen from the Dees for many many years. What an incredible performance, one more quarter, keep it going dees.
