  1. I see a lot of similarities with Carlton right now to when we hired Neeld. Old coach fired after only a few years Bring in the club legends to pick the new coach Experienced senior coach pulls out of the race because the selection process seems a bit scuffed (Sheedy and the powerpoint) I hope for their sake it goes a little better than it did for us.
  2. Fair enough. Perhaps cancelling a contract is a step too far, but my main point is the disparity between the way the general public is punished for a similar incident, and the way Walker is. It comes off like the AFL is tough on racism until there's a chance it will cost someone money, then 6 weeks is good enough.
  3. Im inclined to agree with you. Case after case of rank and file punters shouting things over the fence at players have resulted in membership cancellations and multi-year bans. The same integrity unit at AFL house then comes out and slaps a former club captain with 6 weeks. Should the standard for players, especially a former club captain not be the same if not higher than that of the fans? What is this difference in this case? I would think in this current year we would be moving towards flat out cancelling contracts for this kind of behaviour.
  4. Having watched the documentary they did on his last season, I would say he doesn't want anything to do with the AFL. Fair enough I don't think Adam Goodes owes anything to anyone. Last time he took a stand on racial issues, he spent the remainder of his career getting booed by crowds, and mocked by a club president. Why should he jump at the opportunity to 'help with reconciliation and healing' when he got burned so badly in the past
  5. I actually knew those guys, went to school with them. I will tell you now it wasn't the first time they had done something like that either, just the first time they got caught. It was a pretty sad family background, mum was a heroin addict and the dad spent most of their childhood in prison for a pretty high profile shooting.
  6. Brilliant news! I will have to install it tonight Any early impressions?
  7. Vail Resorts? International snowfield operator who I believe we're purchasing Hotham and Falls Creek
  8. From what I understand the video was shot in Germany during Oktoberfest, and the substance he snorted is a legal non- narcotic in Germany that is popular at that time of year
  9. I had to laugh in the first when he fell over, somehow the ball landed in his lap as he got up, and Darcy commented how well read it was by him.
  10. Great to see someone doing something nice as opposed to scalping them on Facebook. Pity you won't be there to celebrate
  11. I would expect this will be referred straight to the tribunal
  12. He had been in the media for all the wrong reasons. I still didn't say he deserved a harsher penalty than Gaff. The point I was making is that the perception of the person will inevitably have an impact, even though it shouldn't. Much like when Rance threw an elbow in to the back of Jack Watt's head and got let off with a slap on the wrist
  13. Not at all what I said. All I said is Bugg had a track record, I never defended what Gaff did or said he deserved less. I actually said he will get 8 if you had bothered to read my first comment.
  14. 2016 MRP fine for making contact with an injured player as far as MRP is concerned, but he'd been all over TV and the newspapers for weeks for all the wrong reasons leading up to that
  15. Bugg had a pretty bad track record though. Still, given that Brayshaw's season is over it will probably be 8
  16. Yeah I knew about the drive, but it was the first year I have seen them send cards out
  17. Must say I am impressed with the club's marketing. I hadn't payed my renewal yet. Just got a membership card in the mail today with instructions on how to activate it. What a great idea. Then an hour later I get the membership drive call from Oscar McDonald and I signed up on the spot. He reckons he is in for a better year than Tom as well
  18. Not sure on his motivations, just that it was his complaint. Here is the section from the article I've always been of the opinion that we should hire the best candidate for the job. If our indigenous players would be more comfortable have an indigenous member on the staff, then I guess that makes an indigenous candidate the best for the job. As for the Leon Davis comment, H seems to imply that Leon wanted to coach but no-one gave him a shot. I was of the understanding that Leon wanted to go home to Perth, and wasn't interested in staying involved in the AFL. Will be interested to see if anything comes out of this "unfinished business"
  19. You are right of course as to how these things get blown up. I guess this is always a weird one, because since the dawn of time giving insulting and hurtful nicknames has been a part of the footy club mateship and culture, but at the AFL level the clubs are also a workplace, so if someone starts making noise you have to stomp it.
  20. Doco doesnt cover his time at Melbourne, but from the article, seems his main gripe at the Dees is that we had no indigenous people on staff. Not sure if this has changed since he left? As have I, but chimp is pretty unacceptable.
  21. To be honest Im sick of the media trying to push it's social justice agendas on sporting codes. The AFL, NRL and their respective clubs seem to be the only two orgamisations in the country held responsible for the conduct of their employees 24/7/365.
