  1. I reckon watts is a half forward flanker he is a good enough forward his opponent has to respect him and his kicking into the 5o is an asset.
  2. I see Salem and Tyson as 250 game players with as much potential as Kelly it was two for one, even if Kelly is the best of the three all three are going to be A grade players and we got two of them and it cost us one
  3. Reckon there is a bit of Simon Goodwin or Scotty west about him, great find
  4. Peter Wright, McCartin and Durdin will be the top 3 i reckon
  5. we could easily be 3-1 and have the Crows, Swans, Suns and Dogs as our next 4 games and i reckon we could win all 4, i still think we need at least another good trade and draft period
  6. I tipped Brisbane to do it for brown, North to belt the pies, Freo to make finals a very big ask for the Swans, Port to continue to impress, Essendon to belt the saints, Us to sneak over the line in a tight one, Doggies by 60, and the Hawks to flex against the Cats
  7. Gold Coast are similar to Carlton and us in that they haven't been fantastic in terms of scoring power, if we make it a tough contest it will be close, they also had 22 marks inside 50 against them last week, if that happens again Dawes, Frawley and Dunn will get the job done for us.
  8. If you watched the nationals you would have noticed how good Whitfield looked though, he was right to be pick 1. Menzel was hands down the best player when fit. I rated the players in order Whitfield Grundy Menzel Plowman Toumpas Viney Wines Plowman O'Rourke
  9. perhaps another side merging with a struggling Brisbane Lions and creating another expansion club could be on the cards, it's not going to stop at 18
  10. That's a good point, they probably have 10 players that would have any appeal at all to GWS, maybe a huge some of money would have convinced them I reckon Carlton would have offered something like Yarren and Robinson or Robinson and Mclean which would have been scoffed at.
  11. Carlton should have had the courage to offer a deal that wouldn't have been laughed at, not going anywhere without a key forward imo
  12. The kids seriously bright, it's a huge asset
  13. add abit of penetration and a touch of Zip to Trengove and he will be flying again, this is a very good thing.
  14. He applied and was short listed for the adelaide job when Sanderson got it, so in that case he was third in line as Neeld was the one they wanted.
  15. I understand your point but different situation, they have no key forward targets going forwards, totally lacking in key position players, we have a pretty strong spine so our recruiting has been much better in that sense and we don't need to take drastic steps to give our side structure, Carlton won't win a premiership without at least 1 key forward
  16. Mark Bickley, been an assistant at Adelaide for quite some time, already had a taste of being a senior coach and did quite well, premiership captain, couple of years under Roosy and away we go? just a spitball.
  17. I'd have offered Murphy for trade for boyd certainly, Mick needed to understand that it was a one step back two step forward type situation
  18. If Carlton were serious they could have offered enough to get a deal done, Gibbs and their first rounder, Kruizer and their first rounder, noone on their list is good enough to have been immune when a key power forward was on the market.
  19. I don't see Roosy leaving a job half done, i still believe he is getting a taste for it and will want a couple more years.
  20. and convince the Adelaide recruiters to take a 4th round pick for both
  21. i'd argue you can't be a premiership captain without being a leader to some extent, i'll give you an example, my boss is a massive Carlton supporter, last year on the bye week the blues were given an optional training the first day, one player turned up, guess who it was, my boss went to training to watch one bloke get out there. being a duel brownlow medalist means you have some good habbits and standards, this is another example of leadership, he is a role model for the younger players at training and so on, this is how a brownlow medalist carries himself, captain of two different clubs to me says someone thinks he's a decent leader.
  22. the quote i was replying too said he was okay in a wce eagles midfielder, i'd say he is abit better than okay, and he's a premiership captain, i don't think that happens if you simply can't lead, certainly there would be better leaders but i don't think he's terrible in answer to your other question, i'd trade Gibbs and Yarren for Boyd in a heart beat Gibbs, Yarren, Kruizer, Robinson, Menzel, any of their picks from last year, i'd suggest a player like Gibbs and their first rounder might have tempted GWS
  23. Doesn't concern me if he is on it at all, everyone knows the swans game plan, that's irrelevant, the great leigh mathews once said you can tell your opposition the game plan, if you play it well enough and it's good enough you will still win
