if Bomber Thompson was coming on board it would presumable make us an even more attractive destination for Cameron Ling -
Big fan of the suns logo, it's simple but not too simple and really reflects the gold coast imo

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Ted Lasso replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was thinking about the coaching situation at essendope before and I think they're going to find it very difficult to maintain Bomber Thompson as senior coach, even if they would like to. I'd be assuming that Hird is on between 500-600k per year, and has two more years remaining starting next year, Bomber Thompson would require around 800k per year at least to stay on as senior coach if they decide Hird isn't the right man for the job, so that means the Bombers would be down potentially 2 million just in the coaching changeover after they pay out Hird and sign up Bomber at the end of 2015, that may not be possible if they have massive legal fees hanging over their head. I assume that they will fail in their court challenge, and then appeal to try and stall the investigation process for long enough to turn over the list as quickly as possible, the bombers are also paying the players legal fees, these could get very large very quickly, there is also the distinct possibility that the players may look to take legal action against the club if infraction notices are issued, I know I would. I'm curious what others think about this matter but in my opinion it would be irresponsible and silly to try and change the coaches as much as Hird doesn't deserve to have a place in the AFL anymore imo. -
I agree, I think Dom Tyson is a less essential player so they're happy to swap him for Josh Kelly but a bloke like Cameron is going to be a far more significant loss, if they feel they are no chance to keep him and we offer a couple of top 5 picks I think they will take it and run, I also agree that I don't think the saints will finish last, I think last will more than likely be decided by who wins out game against the Lions

I reckon a lot of them feel they are constantly competing with each other for limited spots, where as someone who comes into the mfc is afforded time to develop and some more senior role models to learn off, a super experienced and respected coach and a solid board and decent prospects for the future, the ability to play a lot of games on the MCG, it's got to be getting a few players interest -
The rumours are of homesickness, so I think that probably rules out Brisbane, the Saints would be the ones to beat in terms of a trade but we could offer financially a very good long term deal and a couple of top 5 picks, i'd personally say picks 3 and 4 would trump pick 1 or 2, although I have heard they are very keen on Petracca. Personally I can't see the saints passing up a forward like McCartin for a midfielder, so i'd say Petracca will slide to at least pick 2

I agree wiseblood, my understanding is most clubs will only allow an assistant to leave if it's seen as a direct promotion, I think this brings blokes like ratten right into the mix -

Kirk asked on afl 360 about joining roosy just said he is contracted with Freo for one more year, would one year under roosy in 2016 after 3 years as a Freo assistant be enough to be a senior coach? -
Players to target at the end of the year

Viney is going well but wines and McRae are playing amazing football -
Would we consider taking Peter Wright as a developing forward/ruck?

I thought ratten had the blues playing better footy than they ever have under Mick personally, thought he was really stiff -

the fact he is contracted and the giants would have no trouble offering him a mil plus per year also, means basically he has to say he is gone either way before they would even consider trading him. -
Hahahaha classic picket fence at his best

I don't believe the neeld overruled viney story, I believe we took toumpas because we thought he was a better option, time will tell if we made the right call or not -

Channel 9 just reported Melbourne are front runners to land Jeremy Cameron and considered a big chance to also land Dylan Shiel I think we would have to make some serious sacrifices this trade week would picks 2, 3 and a player get the deal done for both? -
He's contracted so he doesn't leave via trade unless Sydney okay it, I reckon pick 4 is a fair bit better than anything the blues could/would offer for him, the fact that he and Malceski would provide salary cap relief for them would help them a lot,

Plowman over Toumpas also, Grundy sliding to 18 shocked me there were knocks on Wines skills, although I must admit he has improved a lot in that area -

The thing we were also in desperate need of/ still lack is leadership and outside class Toumpas had both, and considering we already Viney stitched up I felt on balance the toumpas decision made sense, Wines is obviously streets ahead now, probably ahead of Viney also, which is great for him, a little disappointing for the Dees supporters. But lets be honest our current group of recruiters have been really good in the last couple of years, this decision is the one that they would have spent the most time in, so hopefully Toumpas lives up to the rating, I think he will
