  1. My point being this "next available selection", where is this cut off? after the nomination period OR the end of trade period? cheers
  2. Hey mate, sorry I may have got it confused "The nomination of father/son on 5th Oct" prior to trade period. Say if he is nominated and our next pick is in the mid 20's, does this lock us in to use this pick (prior to the finalized draft list) OR are we allowed to trade it and therefore our next available selection would be say the 3rd round pick. F/S rule 3: "If a bid is made, the club that nominated the father-son player must use its next available selection if it wishes to retain its hold on that player. If a club nominating the father-son player declines to match the selection nominated, the club with the successful bid must use that selection at the Draft to select the player." Can anyone verify this please?
  3. On the basis we don't have to use pick 3 on Viney, then yeah its a great idea and great move... of course allowing us to pick up Viney in the high 40's. Although are both out of contract this season or are you just throwing wild ideas around?
  4. Cale Morton was also highly rated as a junior... Dane Swan was highly underated as a junior, as was Goodes... some just don't cut it at the big time whereas others excel!
  5. FINALLY Ben-Hur someone to get it right! Couldn't agree more! I think Neeld will go for ready to go first year players, hopfully Toumpas at 3 and Stringer at 13 will be available. Although I wouldn't be surprized if Wines was selected as he too is ready to roll.
  6. Leigh Williams anyday of the week! Throws himself at a contest, I see far more potential there!
  7. Lets just say money talks. If they land Boak (based on cash), MFC and Port will probably sort our Boak and Jurrah as a trade.
  8. LOL I hope he does Although we can look at other club midfielders drafted out of the VFL like Sam Mitchell (at ~19 or 20yo) or Michael Barlow (~22yo) who was the runner up behind the J.Pod.
  9. Couldn't agree more! MFC need to work on their development and keeping their players. Although probably the best example I can think of straight off the bat of a team winning a flag by poaching would be North Melbourne under Ron Barrassi buying their 75 & 77 premiership winning teams.
  10. G'Day, New member here first post, your thread topic sparked me to join I heard on TrippleM last year just before the draft that Dom Tyson was actually coached by Garry Lyon at some point during his junior carreer. So it wouldn't suprize me if the old Lyon has been in his ear. Also as stated previously he is only a first year player, however GWS have been signing their players a year early to avoid the vulturing clubs circuling... interestingly if your source is correct I believe we would be seeing him come at the end of the 2013 season (unless if he and GWS agree to cancel contracts and sort a trade with the Dees). Would be nice if the cost was right!
