Putting Yze aside as he had a very long career. Oliver has played 43 games for the MFC, while Jakovich played 47 games for the MFC. Both completely different players but both had a massive impact in such a short period of time. In fact these two guys easily stand alone for this club in the last 30 years anyway for what they were able to produce in less than 50 games. You wouldn't find many players from other clubs either that did what these two did in that time frame.

Lyon in the 2nds team... boy oy boy wowee.

Would need to trade Tyson for a pick and have Vince retire to be able to afford Gaff. If we add him to our already superb, deep and ultra talented midfield we would be unstoppable.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-05-18/sliding-doors-round-nine If Jack Viney doesn't maim someone this weekend ... then we'll be both glad and surprised. Like a caged animal who's been let out, watch him ferociously make up for lost time. Bad luck, Blues.

Look at those Oliver numbers, and hes 3 years younger than Cripps and played 26 less games. Incredible.

Yup. Those two guys are a huge asset for us. They will win us many games. Not many key defenders will be able to stick with them all game, and teams will require two of them. I also have a good feeling we wont tire at the tail end of the season like past years... we are more mature now and experienced, and have a lot depth.

Would love to see your team, CBD. Id like to know who the absolute guns were from our premiershp era in your eyes, and which players of the modern area would get a gig. Add 3 emergencies to your team too so we can see who just misses out. Most posters here would probably have teams from the same time frame as Werridees team (80s-early 90s onwards), so you oldies need to start talking up our premiership heroes!!

Gotta hand it to old man Bernie, hes played every game despite the very short ANZAC break. Thought he'd have had a weeks rest by now but no, hes a machine.

Interesting stat from Footywire, Jake Lever second in the AFL for winning contested one on ones in defense. Not something he is renowned for but hes elite in 2018 in this area. He isnt in the top 10 for intercept marks or possessions though , which is his bread and butter. Contested Defence Loss Percentage (minimum 5 games played, 1.50 contested one-on-ones per game)1. Cale Hooker - 0.00%2. Jake Lever - 11.11%3. Jake Kelly - 11.76%4. Heath Shaw - 14.29%5. Aidan Corr - 14.71%6. Nathan Brown - 15.38%7. James Frawley - 15.79%8. Alex Rance - 16.00%9. Michael Hibberd - 16.67%10. Jeremy Finlayson - 16.67%

What about #9? David Neitz (300 games, 600+ goals, Coleman, 2 times AA), Alan Johnson (2 Blueys), Laurie Fowler (3 Blueys), Brian Dixon (5x Premiership player including BOG in the 59' GF, All Australian, Bluey, Team of the Century) and of course, Charlie Spargo.

He will play vs Carlton as long as his foot pulled well up and he feels cherry ripe. If they want him to have a full game at Casey first though I wont complain.
-
Sick of hearing about these two duds, just ban them and get on with it. Hope its stuffed their preparation if they do play. Melbourne by 112.
-
Not sure whats more impressive, your ability to inspire the entire team or the fact we have won 10 straight quarters of footy.
-
True. And also hes still only 23 and played less than 50 games. He will be fine.

This is the highest we have been on the ladder at this point (end of Round 8 ) since 2006.

Two years later and the same rings true. GB has been our President since mid 2013. We never hear from him (a good thing) and the club continues to improve from top to bottom in every area. Which beg the question how do you judge the performance of a club president?

Look at the way Weid moves in the very first highlight. Doesnt even look like him, I've never seen him look that agile/quick before. Thats exciting stuff. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2018-05-14/rd-8-all-the-goals

Its been a slow build since year 1 of Roos and we have improved each year since. If it all works out as its promising too, it will be perfection. We would be in for years of dominant football with our talent level and depth and and top 4 finishes will be the norm. Whereas the Doggies fluked a flag then fell away drastically.

He has kicked 9.1 .... so maybe the threshold was more than 10 shots. But yeah, 9.1 in three games... hes awesome.
-
He should be studying his teammate Michael Hibberd. The art of how to be damaging off half back while also defending your man.

If this game was at Etihad it would be a guaranteed 60+ point win for us. On the MCG, who knows?

What about Jesse?
