  1. 105 point win by GWS but they lost a few players. Carlton's second 100 point loss of the season... nice synergy
  2. when Tracc starts kicking them ... you know it will be a good day
  3. that many.... and here I was worried that the thirteen who were at the last match would not show up !
  4. Just sitting down here in Asia to watch the game, only to find that the Australia Channel has the GWS v Carlton game followed by the WCE v Freo game. Such is life !!
  5. GWS showing how it is done so far 35-8 at quarter time. On track for a hundred point win
  6. I love Pedersen but he just doesn't have a place in the team. As a third tall up front ... it just doesn't work. Down back ... he's not quick enough on the rebound. Sure he can take a mark but defence is so much more these days.
  7. Makes sense... pity he's not a little taller as we are desperate for a Bernie Vince replacement next year. Bernie is 186 cm. I know they are trialling Dion J but he's even shorter at 179
  8. I feel the joy but if I recall we were in much the same position last year with some slightly easier matches ahead of us compared to this year and we know how that story ended. This year I am more ambivalent. Win three of the next four and perhaps we can give September a shake. Go Dees
  9. 6 goals is disappointing. This is barely a VFL side we are playing. How do you think we stand a chance against three top 8 teams if we cannot demolish a 17th ranked team with most of its top 6-10 players out.
  10. Largely an irrelevant game as winning will tell us little and losing .. well we know what happens then. Dees by a disappointing 36. On a more positive note looking for good games from Petracca and the defence generally. Would like to see the defence work as a complete unit with Smith giving off the ball to a designated kicker. If we can do that we should beat Sydney next week and then who knows.
  11. where would one start: Carlton..2016 Collingwood ...2017 St Kilda ... 2018
  12. Darcy Moore being given a bath by Franklin so far. Saved by the siren from yet another loss in a one on one marking comp. Obviously missing Dunn. Anybody's game but it does not look up to the standard of the other games based on the first quarter.
  13. assuming a win tomorrow next week is a big one. GWS V Adelaide, Port v West Coast and us against the Swans. Will definitely be a heart stopping weekend
  14. Interesting those two touched goals that on review became points for Hawks against Essendon. Neither looked clear enough to me for an overrule.
  15. now to barrack for the Crows....this has been a hard weekend so far
  16. results definitely not going our way today .... at least the results aren't helping anyone percentage wise
  17. of the emergencies he was probably the most versatile but agree he and the others really need game time after last week's bye.
  18. thanks MSF ... that makes sense and will give me someone to barrack for.
  19. Had the vicarious pleasure of sitting near Neville Jetta and his family at a VFL match when Bernie came over and started chatting to the children. He was obviously popular with Nev's children and struck me as a lovely person. Congrats Bernie and thanks for the wonderful contribution to the MFC.
  20. Remind me please... who do we want to win between Bombers and Hawks and why. Many thanks
  21. A little context for today's match. Northern Blues are third from the bottom with only Frankston and Coburg beneath them. They have won 4 and lost 10.
  22. The continued refusal of the AFL to consider a flexible Friday night fixture is a mystery. It has a fantastic product but it risks killing interest in that product by its myopic Machiavellian approach. The interesting thing is that a flexible fixture would be good for sponsors of the less powerful clubs such as ourselves in that sponsors would know that with success come exposure unlike now.
  23. Hardwick did not impress in that last few minutes. His tactic of packing the backline and leaving no player forward almost cost him the game. Twice the ball went down to the Tigers 50 metre arc. Once because no Richmond player was around there was the deliberate OOB and the other time there were two Geelong players waiting who then ran the ball back down the field. Even during the last minute when they did get the ball up their end Richmond were relatively unco- ordinated for a top premiership side.
  24. hope he takes a long run up.... we could do with some fancy time wasting skills after that Geelong game
  25. good game... surprised by the relatively low crowd given the followings of the two clubs
