  1. Respect your opinion Sisso but that feels just a tad "glass half empty" and I hope he can prove you wrong and make a meaningful contribution
  2. AFL rules - anyone's guess how they interpret things but the article says Under the new guidelines, the earliest that a player can return to play after a concussion is on the 12th day after the day on which the concussion was sustained. The concussion occurred on the 8th The first day after was the 9th , the 12th day after is the 20th - therefore he would be ok to play that day
  3. His injury (if that's how to refer to it) was on the 8th - round 1 is on the 20th - the 12th day after the concussion Therefore as long he is ok to play there is no problem - or am I missing something
  4. No but would be as much value as Mitch Brown
  5. I can run out and play CHF but I would be a waste of space - that would be "trying something" Mitch Brown is not the answer IMO - over the off season we have thrown all our cards on the Weid (again despite his inability to perform consistently) and BBB who was effectively dumped by a team that I expected to finish bottom 4 I hope both prove me wrong but neither seem to bring what I believe is sadly lacking in our forward 50 - that is physical presence and aggression
  6. If we are relying on Mitch Brown to kick a wining score we are in serious trouble, is he worse than TMac or Petty I'm not sure but the reality is I suspect all three would struggle to get a game in any of the top tier teams
  7. The way I see things - We fielded our worst starting midfield in quite a few years - They have a very strong midfield (one of the best) and absolutely smashed us in clearances despite us winning the hit out count - This being the case we were always going to struggle - They are well coached , fit and have speed across the ground (not sure we tick those three boxes, arguably only one) - We still have nothing like a functioning forward line. Whether or not the return of Brown and/or Weid will make significant difference we will have to wait and see - personally I have limited confidence in either of them to make a meaningful difference on a consistent basis - We have some players that IMO just aren't good enough and should spend the majority of the year at Casey and if they don't improve should be moved on at years end - Goodwin saying he thinks this team is well prepared & capable of going deep into the finals seems a very long way off to me - The sky is not falling yet - but this group is showing all the tell tale signs from previous seasons of inconsistency and inability to stop teams from effectively icing a game in one quarter
  8. 10 The invisable man, There was a huge bloke in a grey t shirt who was instructing and moving among the players displaying how to block where to stand, how to execute various maneuvers, He looked vaguely familiar but have no idea who has was!?? Greg Stafford ? Thx for the report much appreciated
  9. In his first hit out last week Rosman looked a bit lost physically not ready - that is probably to be expected. He is going to take time if he is to make it and that's fine - best to give him time than try and force things too early and destroy his confidence Bowey on the hand was a pleasant surprise - plays taller than I expected, great evasion/awareness and can certainly kick as well as anyone on the list
  10. Ambitious - but good luck with those bets
  11. I do have vague memories of his first game - he always seemed to lift when G Lyon was up and about - literally that game against Richmond when he climbed on his back to take MOTY (I think)
  12. Congrats Clarry we look forward to a bright future in red & blue With your mate Trac big things are possible - stick together and bring home that premiership bacon
  13. Anyone know why he wasn't played in the B side Friday for at least some game time - realize his fitness levels need some work but game time would be the fastest way to get match fit
  14. I watched the replay of all 3 thirds again and Kobe's work ethic was pretty good His disposal was a bit average on a couple of occasions but he was certainly not lacking in willingness to get physical There was one passage of play where he tapped the ball ahead of himself through traffic and had he not run into a stationary Bailey Laurie he was a good chance of creating a goal from nothing - have to say it did remind me of the great Wizard Our list managers are far better placed to determine if he deserves a list spot but in terms of a first hit out in a level which is above anything he has been in before I think his effort was pretty good
  15. Very sad news - whatever Aaron decides to do now I wish him all the best
  16. I hope that isn't serious - he has had such a terrible run and deserves to have some luck
  17. Jake Bowey can play footy - has very good balance, good side step and dare I say it you could argue is already the best kick on the list Bailey Laurie seems a natural footballer - he has very good hands and awareness in traffic - I still have a slight question mark on speed but overall quite promising Fraser Rosman I think has potential but may take a bit more time than others hoped
  18. You could argue we have tried to do that too - but alas they just get injured
  19. Cupping is supposed to promote better blood flow and relief of muscle pain - no idea if it works Probably to ease pain from a corky or similar
  20. One day we will finally run out of pathetic excuses and win a flag
  21. I'm not suggesting they have zero interest - obviously they do What I am suggesting is that the gap that exists between best and worst for some players on our list is too big and not acceptable if they ever want to seriously challenge. The better teams don't tend to have such a wide gap in performance levels. They don't have huge lapses in concentration or application. They don't have teams scoring multiple unanswered goals repeatedly week after week. They don't have what seems to be significant drop offs in intensity from week to week or from quarter to quarter. Occasionally - maybe, but not consistently Unfortunately I would guess we are one of the worst teams in the competition in terms of win ratio in games where we are clear favorite - that suggests to me there is a big problem - That problem needs addressing urgently and if it means bringing in players who can apply themselves more consistently then I welcome them despite how old they are or how many games they may have played
  22. Last time I checked our list isn't performing that well - if the newbies are good enough, fit enough and hungrier for success then I'm all for replacing some of those who seem comfortable with going through the motions
  23. This rule seems very unnecessary to me - I can see games won and lost simply by someone standing the mark moving laterally by one step - maybe even just getting balanced 50m penalty for what has no real bearing on the ability of the player to effectively dispose of the ball just seems crazy
  24. Ok here we go champ Marks per game Daw 3.6 vs 3.5 Goals per game Daw 0.8 vs 1.0 One percenters per game Daw 3.2 vs 1.3 I wasn't necessarily saying he was an ideal replacement for Weid but he could fill a need now that Weid has found another way of going MIA. I know there is a lot of love for the Weid but if you look at facts he has yet to prove he is anything like a consistent or significant contributor to team success I am not being critical of Sam and hope like everyone he reaches his full "potential" which he hasn't gone close to - yet !
