  1. Decided to google the said Haddad: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/former-un-officer-takes-afl-bet-role-20110412-1dcnd.html April 2011. Looks like a very draconian data base the AFL has. Haddad doesn't seem like someone to be trifled with...wouldn't like to be one of the 'witnesses' being interviewed atmo. No wonder the club may feel that past/present staff are being 'heavily coerced'. He sounds like one scary dude.
  2. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/trying-times-with-a-team-that-wasnt-very-good-20121031-28k86.html An encouraging article by Martin Flanagan in the The Age. BTW: Is there an opposite to the 'Midas Touch'. If so we have it! Or, is it just the Norm Smith Curse that just won't leave us alone!
  3. Can you speed up the clock H-T...I don't think I can wait that long to know if the tanking thing affects the draft and our Viney pick...I don't trust the AFL to not manipulate the rules to suit themselves...
  4. This quote from the article is both reassuring (MFC on the front foot) and very disturbing (staff are being heavily coerced): "The Melbourne board has continued to mount a defence, which is being led at board level by director and respected lawyer Guy Jalland. Directors remain concerned past and present staff who have given evidence to the AFL's investigators were heavily coerced."
  5. This is the latest article where she comments on things of interest in this thread. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/we-tried-to-stop-tanking-20121031-28kea.html
  6. Easy peasy BB: http://www.taste.com.au/holding.html
  7. Ah...check facts here Doc. Connolly was one of the applicants for the job. He and CS were groomsman at each others wedding so if they wanted someone 'who sang from the same song book' it would have been CC as coach. The dumbest thing we ever did was make the unsuccessful applicant (CC) boss over the successful (DB). DB never had a chance.
  8. You missed the point. I said he had to go. Read the rest of the paragraph: is about not blaming Dean about now squibbing, if he has.
  9. In his book Jimmy says he wanted to get rid of CS as well as DB after 186 but Garry talked him out of it, saying the club couldn't withstand the fallout from sacking both the coach and CEO. We are now seeing the consequences. On DB now squibbing...I felt he had to go but not in the way it happened. At the time DL was awash with good wishes for him and how he had shown a lot of dignity. He is that sort of guy. He is still acting with dignity. I don't think he has a vendetta against the MFC. He is an honest guy telling the truth. He probably held out as long as he could with the 'experimenting with players' stand. We shouldn't blame him.
  10. If the Vault story is true, this will go one of 3 ways: 1. No case to answer & a wrap over the knuckles - Now unlikely 2. The AFL will punish the Club and maybe a lot of legal sh_t follows - Bad for everybody. Off-field stuff always affects on-field results. 3. The Club & AFL strike a deal to punish the culprits and the guilty walk the plank - real test of fortitude for the looking-after-the-boys-club culture. Time to focus on winning games folks, If guilty let them walk (or push them)!
  11. This really made me LOL! Its such a little story to DL's that there are 14 pages of posts today and counting...
  12. Just when we thought it couldn't get worse: an annus Horribilis!
  13. Good news. Found this bit interesting: '...He ( Spencer) impressed with his competitiveness and second efforts and, although he has a heart-in-mouth kicking style, further improvement will create much needed selection pressure in the ruck...' Looks like no freebie games for anyone in future! All to the good.
  14. A very good thing! Finally, those that are really responsible for the inept management of our beloved Club will be 'delisted' or 'retired' as many of the players that were their fallguys, have been.
  15. What's more how unbelievably dumb is it to give the whole thing a code name: The Vault. Its a Club not a 007 production set! Dumb as...! Bewildering!!
  16. They became the fallguys for the inept recruiting, development, coaching and administration. Would include Junior, Bruce and a few high potential players just lost in the fallguy category.
  17. OMG! That means he will be back to haunt us again!
  18. Daisycutter tells me he was run over by the reality bus!
  19. Hmmm...not a bad outcome when all the dealing is done and the fun and games been had!
  20. The oh-so-precious-love-child, in GWS, is off-limits!!
  21. Totally agree Redleg. We may have got who we wanted but we lacked negotiating smarts and savviness! In the immortal words of Kenny Rogers '...you've got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them and know when to walk away.' MFC have shown they don't know how to finesse the game. Showing our hand too early and getting poor returns for players smacked of desperation while other clubs played hardball (and won). Just saying, don't want us to be seen as easybeats at the negotiating table. This year sets the tone for future years so hope we get some smarts quickly. Won't be asking any MFC negotiators to bid on a house at auction!
  22. You mean the ones that said that Scully hadn't decided to leave the D's then advised him to lie for all of 2012!
  23. Does anyone know what happened to pick 49? Just looked at mfc web page and either there is a misprint or else at some stage it (nee pick 48) went to North Melbourne ... http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/150356/default.aspx ...outrageous if that is the case!
