The disconnect between the way football is currently played versus how it’s reported on, and the amount of time reported on it, is becoming more extreme each year. It’s either painfully dumbed down, or so shouty and antagonistic that it’s objective is to become its own story. I always imagined that as your team became more successful you enjoyed and devoured more of the footy media to soak it all in. Sadly it’s been the other way for me. I find it dull and devoid of insight.

I liked that Ralph said Melbourne have already told him he is required to the end of the year regardless of what he’s doing next year. It seems like a mature, well rounded way to handle it. He’s done a lot of work and he deserves to see it through.

Lever knew exactly what he was doing. There’s no way that our strongest player and our quickest player are at centre half forward out numbering their opponent 3-1. We NEVER set up like that.
