If I was the president I’d be asking our football department what experienced forward line coach we need to bring in. Things have to change in the footy department I think. Our forward line connection has been a problem in 4 of the last 5 seasons - yet we have one of the best midfields. We need someone who values skill and forward craft, as it’ll put pressure on the rest of the football department to buy into the value of execution. We have to compete way too hard to score.

Isn’t every one just thrilled that we gave up a home game to travel interstate? Geelong got momentum from their crowd and played to their strengths at home. We gave this game up. I absolutely hate it. Melbourne homes games at the G only. If we want to be taken seriously start acting that way.

Yep, and I think it gets lost but the Hawks and Tigers eras came off the back of heavily compromised drafts periods. This is what the AFL wants.

This. We have to work far too hard to score.

This is all about them getting their tales up at home - in front of their fans. Why do we sell home games and force ourselves to travel? This season is about the smallest details. I’ll be telling the club.

THIs is WHY YOU PLAYE HOME GAMES AT YOUR Home GROUnd. I bet you no one give a [censored] about the community in Alice Spings now.

That advantage was a joke

Grundy and Smith have both been fantastic.

Were you born in 2019 Jimmy? That’s the only way this can be true.

The scrapping onto Tracc and Gawn is pure Scott.

Smith has looked really agile.

In all seriousness if that was an opposition player it’d be 4 weeks. I don’t say that to be funny. I say it because it shows you what a raffle it is.

Ok, so this I don’t quite understand. not showing incident. Happy to when it’s a potential suspension

I wouldn’t sleep for a week. No coffee after midday for me, and I still can’t sleep before 1 after a night game.

Same.

This is the longest shortest day of the year ever!

The only thing certain about tonight is that 21,000 people will still make enough noise to create some very questionable umpiring decisions.

Wonder if they’ll target McVee like they did Bowser last year? Hope our boys are a wake up to it.

I disagree with the notion that a sporting environment isn’t inclusive because we don’t have an openly gay player. Why would they come out? It’s just unnecessary pressure. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t openly gay players at clubs that everyone at the club knows is gay. It’s just means it’s not in the paper. Conversely the NRL has had openly gay players since the 90’s - but that was the opposite of inclusivity as someone basically tried to extort Ian Roberts and the Newspapers were going to publish the story against his will. I do totally agree about the corporate sector falling over themselves for cultural stuff though. It’s all just an excuse for them to talk about themselves. -

So to run a massive multimillion dollar entertainment brand you need to have been able to kick a football in the 90’s? The people who run record labels usually don’t come from being drummers in great bands. I find this an outdated argument. Bad decision making is bad decision making - personal history won’t change that. Thinking that ‘if only we could get David King or Luke Hodge involved it’ll all make sense’ is weird. Maybe Hirdy? He’ll solve it. Worked so well last time. -
TRAINING: Saturday 17th June 2023
The heart beats true replied to kev martin's topic in Melbourne Demons
Your insight here is a really interesting read Coach. Just to be clear none of my frustration about our ‘bye’ has anything to do with training loads, or winning games. It’s to do with the fact that more than half our list have family interstate, and at best they could have visited them for 2.5 days. This is the second year that’s happened. It’s frustration about the quality of their lives. This is their only chance for 8 months to see them, and a lot of these players are very young. -
I know you didn’t mean to, but you just made a really good case for Nibbler. His tackling against Collingwood was fantastic.
