I’m so glad we are going to have a Tasmanian team. It’s long overdue. Which brings me to the jumper. It feels older - like it was designed mid century. I like it. It feels like a middle finger to the AFL. A way to say ‘should have been done decades ago’. I also like that it’s associated with state of origin. Gives the club a really unified ‘us against the world’ attitude right from the start. Sport is tribal, and this really delivers on that. I personally can’t stand the devil motif. It’s far too over worked. They’ve got some time to refine that and get it right. The crows took a while to figure out how to make their bird feel premium, and iconic. It’ll come together. It’s all great for the sport, and for Tassie. I hope its success highlights some of the AFL’s poor decision making to chase ‘potential populations’, instead of delivering to established football communities.

They should make the top 6 every year by default with such a huge advantage.

Imagine how hard it would be to win away games if every Victorian team had a bespoke stadium that they train on, and then they only allowed 40,000 people in, and just 5% of that got allocated to opposition supporters? Thats what Geelong have. It’s the biggest advantage in the modern game by quite some margin.

Maynard is clearly getting booed at the unfurling of their premiership flag, against an interstate club. The AFL can pretend all they like, but I can guarantee they are hearing. The general public is appalled.

Collingwood’s desire to get the ball to Daicos is logical, but it can be exploited by the right side.

I’d love to see a graph of momentum shifts in games tracked to show forward half free kicks. Nobody wants to talk about it but forward half frees are worth their weight in gold, and decide far too many games.

Surprisingly they didn’t name him.

The bulldogs back 6 isn’t exactly stacked with quality key defenders. I hope Brown is fit because that’s where we have a clear advantage. Jones has to go to him, freeing up JVR for a big size advantage. C’mon Dees!
