Craig Cameron and Barry Prendergast ... What have you done!
rjay replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
No unfortunately even Emma got that one wrong. -
I don't think they will be dropped just to be called up a week later, that stuff is out the window. Anyone dropped from this game will have to string a few good games together and show they can come in and add something to the team structure. That would be my guess.

This has happened before, Geelong, Hawthorn...the same result. No I'm happy for the coach to drop who ever he feels deserves it. Our guys just don't stand up, maybe they can't.

I once met a St.Kilda player in a bar before Christmas in the 90's who played under Stan Alves, said he loved Stan when he was an assistant coach but now he was senior coach he was an absolute (2 words starting with but not the same) football coach. He hated him. I'm sure Neeld is dealing with the old Ron Barassi thing of keeping the players that hate him away from the ones who are not sure. Can't please everyone.

Unfortunately the kids have to stand up now, no one esle is leading the way that's why we have 2 inexperienced captains.
-
Reminds me of a Mark Mclure comment a couple of seasons ago after another poor Melbourne performance, "Moloney and Silvia are dumb footballers". Looks like you have added a few more to the list.

Priddis is the extractor, if he does a Black and gets it out to their runners then we face the same problem as Saturday.

Malcolm Blight along with Mick Malthouse are mentors to Mark Neeld. When Blight took over at Adelaide he delisted, not traded 4 senior players (McGuiness, McDermott, Jarman, Anderson), all champions of the club who bled whatever colors they have. If he were to walk into the Melbourne FC what would he do, who would he delist, who would he trade. Remember to trade you need something of value, not players past there prime you are thinking of delisting or the top up players spending most of their time at Casey. If we get more performances like yesterday it becomes an issue, I think it already is in Neeld's eye as there was one little comment he made in his press conference, when asked if the performance really surprised him he said "NO". My guess is there will be a number of senior players delisted at the end of this season and in the coaches turn of phrase "fair enough". There will also be a few that can't handle the heat in the Neeld kitchen who will go, "fair enough", and there will be some traded to help build a better list "fair enough". I've made my thoughts known on some of our senior players on other threads so won't labour the point here but one thing is for sure is that the list will have a very different look next season. Would you like a Blight approach to our list? or are we too precious about our boys? Like it or not we have the Neeld approach for the next 3 years minimum and I think we are in for an interesting ride, very interesting.

You see that's part of the problem, we are not getting enough un contested ball. At least Trengove was giving us some spread and an option. Yeah it wasn't a great game all up but his efforts in the second quarter probably kept us in the game at least until half time.

My thought exactly, the up coming draft is vital to our future and if we don't get something sorted in the next couple of weeks then the admin are not doing their job. It doesn't matter who we run over, upset, p off, steam roll to get one...and Eddie we will look to get another team to play on Queens Birthday, sick of your condesending BS.

No one will take them if their best is behind them, you only get one Carlton in a lifetime.
-
I wouldn't bet on it.

Another thing on changes to the side, I know Couch was in the best for Casey yesterday but I think we can only have 2 of Couch, Jones, Magnar or Moloney in the side at any one, include Silvia and Bate to this list if you like. It's ok to have grunt in the mids but you also need the football smarts, awareness, run, carry and spread, and disposal. All of these guys lack in some of these areas, we need a balance.
-
No if you have a look I think I'm talking about moves all over the ground including the midfield but also more about a coaches reluctance to make structural moves these days.
-
The Rockliff one got me as it was obvious they were trying to take Grimes deep and loose our only effective rebound player. MacDonald or even Tynan who played his junior football as a medium KPD should have been moved to free Grimes up. I think so much coaching is based around structure these days and less on creative coaching moves. To me it would have made sense to put Stef Martin back on to Leuenberger when he was forward and swing Clark who was struggling up forward into the ruck for a run and drop Jamar back into the square as he wasn't having his best day in the ruck. Blease back where he could run. Just move things around a bit.
-
Yep, I understand what that you were just passing something on and my point is made at him, as loges says he has no right to be disappointed. If he were a true leader or had the qualities he would have done a Teddy and "Stuck it right up em"
-
He showed his leadership yesterday and why he is not in the leadership group.
-
Didn't say it was right but it is what's going to happen. At least it saves him from being dropped.
-
I don't think Neeld said he was happy with 4 players but that there were 4 who were around average. I think that says it all. I don't think we had one standout player but Magner in his first game was the best of the bunch.
-
I would like to see Strauss back in but he missed this week with concussion and they might let him ease into the season. The other one is Petterd again out injured. Apart from that Sellar, McDonald, Morton and Couch played well today at Casey and should be looked at. Bennell may give us more of the same unfortunately.
-
Coming up against Priddis I don't like his chances.
-
Magner, Watts, Trengove and ???
-
You need to do more than attract a tagger and after a while the tagger won't be there anymore. Besides it's time for the others to learn how to deal with a tagger and they are not getting a good example. Brisbane get a lesson every game from Black, it is an unfair comparison I know as Black is one of the greats of the game.

We all know Bartram shouldn't take a kick in but when he did with a gimme it still came unstuck. A notice needs to be plastered on his head "Not to take kick ins, ever"
-
McDonald (kicked 3) for Green, Sellar for Macdonald,, Couch for Moloney, Bennel for Bartram (suspended) ,Morton for anyone and anyone for Davey and hopefully the run was good for Tascott and Gysberts.
