  1. That looks like a bad error by the boys there. Weitering is a walk up start in this team.
  2. I think this is a good idea 'bin'... Despite the talk of Weid being the backup I think it's not working so we try something else. ..and you're right, he doesn't have the attributes to go into defence. In the end we need to find another 1 or 2 KPF's and can't afford to keep depth around for depth's sake. If Tommo can do it, it will prolong his career with us.
  3. Companies from the USA know everything 'Red', the amazing thing is they will still pick someone currently working at head office for the role. Who would have seen that coming. With a bit of luck I will be wrong but it's been a closed shop for a while now.
  4. We've got away with it for most of the season but we do miss Salem's toughness as well as skill down back.
  5. The match was over...the only action you can take after the siren is your kick if it was awarded before the siren. Honestly I don't know if this is fact but pretty sure we will find out over the next few days. There was a reason the ump was on the mic to someone upstairs. My guess is to confirm the timing. Once confirmed, it was game over...go back & have your kick.
  6. I'm pretty sure that the ump was checking online for the time line... The Tiges cost themselves the game anyway, should have put it away.
  7. I don't see how it could be a 50 if he kicked it over after the siren.... Totally different...ours occurred during the game, not after the bell.
  8. Wouldn't it be perfect if it was the 'Do Better' crew...
  9. When I saw Dermott & analysis in the same sentence I should have known not to bother. Seriously one of the dumbest commentators in football. Uses long winded monologues to cover but how does the old saying go about opening your mouth & proving it…ah yes this is the one. Mark Twain
  10. I think they are underselling some players... Salem is most definitely underrated...out of sight out of mind.
  11. That's all well and good but only if we're stronger....
  12. I take Carlton very seriously, i have for a couple of years now. You could see what they were building. I don't take the practice game as seriously as for one we were coming off the shorter pre season being the premiers. By the way...the umpire descent 50's (adjusted after our game) probably ended up costing us the win in the end...not bad for a team that was smashed in the midfield. Don't be too concerned as I'm pretty sure Goody and the forward scouts are keeping a good eye on all opposition including Carlton...
  13. It was a practice match...not a match. Last season the dogs flogged us in a practice match. How did that stand up?
  14. Fugazi...
  15. According to Max 3 of them had a go at him...Simkin, Greenwood & I think the other was Thomas.
  16. 45 touches and he was being tagged...
  17. McKay wasn't playing...
  18. Poor and short sighted response...look at the personnel and experience. They are close to a fully formed team coming into their prime. We had no defence (Omac & Frosty), were poor on the outside and Oliver & Petracca, particularly Petracca were no where near where they are today. Forget the score differentials the true story was told in that 2018 prelim final. Carlton's 2022 story won't be realised until this year is finished but they are certainly ahead of where we were in 2018.
  19. They are better than us of 2018... The area of weakness I see with them is their mids are not yet fully committed to the defensive part of the game and when they break even or worse on contested ball it puts the defence under a lot of pressure and they concede scores. We bat a lot deeper...but don't underrate them.
  20. A lot of people are underselling them 'fr'...trying to convince themselves. ...but I agree, Carlton are a difficult preposition. We will need to bring out 'A' game to beat them.
  21. Yep, Bruce makes a difference but Curnow hasn't got McKay out there tonight and is going ok. Their overall structure is better than the Dogs. I'm still not convinced with their team defence and that's what we started to see a bit that Q.
  22. The Dogs just don't have the forward strength...they are mids & more mids. Carlton have them covered there. Defensively they are also a stronger with the big full back. I think in transition is where they will be caught out at the moment. Cripps is still a one way runner and when you play a really good team everyone needs to buy into team defence. I haven't seen enough to know how hard the forwards work outside of their zone. They put defensive pressure on there but do they push back hard enough to help out the back 6? Going to be an interesting watch. When contested ball doesn't go their way, how do they stand up?
  23. They're every chance of finishing top 2... This has been coming for a while now and a few of us had posted similar over the last 2 seasons. The recruiting had been excellent and all they needed was a bit of luck. Voss is the icing, he will get the credit but the work was done way before he got there. Cripps is critical to where they finish and I'm not sure he can last a full season...lets see.
  24. As I always say 'Red'...it's good for the competition when Carlton are down the bottom.
  25. Good article 'Lucifer'...Caro is a very good journalist no matter what popular opinion would have us believe. It's a pity more didn't jump on board this issue rather than the pathetic Shiel/Parker thing last week. Although with most of the AFL media it's more about not biting the hand that feeds.
