Not wanting to get into your argument with 'BB' 'Axis' but I agree that it is about balance. We had an imbalance in the list and it's obvious that it will take more than the last draft to address it. There seems to be a few chances to pick up good players later in the first round or beyond this draft but that's just from an outsiders view. I'm sure the club will be across it and make the right decision come the time. We have to have quality young kids coming in every year or we set ourselves up for failure down the track, if we can get them later in the first round all the better. A lot will depend on what pick or picks we have.
-
I'm not sure we will finish above them but yes I would expect they would pick him.
-
Can't see Brisbane or St Kilda not taking a tall.
-
'Jack', I think there is no doubt that McCartin will go number one. He didn't have a great championships but has been struggling with injury this year. As for our midfield; Petracca looks ready made, I'm not convinced about Brayshaw. Think Laverde maybe Fyfe like but could be just Murdoch and really like the look of Gore, not rated yet but if he has some good games at Sturt will come up the list.
-
McCartin is the pick of the bunch, has a touch of mongrel about him like Hogan.
-
There is no way the Doggies will take Pickett though 'Chaser'. They will be after one of the talls in this draft.
-
I think they need to 'Bob', they really need to get some good experience into that side.
-
He would be a very good get, from what I hear he is a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. He would blossom under Roos, Stone and co and would work well with Tyson.
-
Brayshaw for Ziebell won't happen, they are similar types of players and one is proven. Forget the name, family allegiance means nothing. North desperately need some KPP's though so if you wanted Ziebell a trade of picks might do the job. I don't think we need his type though, we need a bit more run & carry than he gives us.
-
I would be pretty sure that's what we will do, it will depend on where that pick is and what Frawley does but it will be a genuine mid or KPP.
-
Thanks 'Pennant', that's a good wrap up and he sounds like a really interesting prospect. Will have a look out for him.
-
With Col it was the things he couldn't do that always concerned me, a big part of it was him blazing away without any awareness of what was around him. Does Petracca have good awareness around the contest? does he give the ball off and find good options? I know you watch a bit of footy 'Pennant' and trust your opinions. I will be looking forward to watching him in action. I don't think we are settled there either although ahead of the teams you mention. If someone like McCartin was available at our pick I think we should take him. I think he is more likely to go at pick one though and I sure hope we are not there.

Need to have a good look at him to make sure we're not getting another Silvia but on a glimpse he shows a lot of promise.

Thanks 'Chaser'.

Mark Basics [edit: resurrected from 2013]
rjay replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought that was what the thread was about. Yes it was poor today and Frawley was the biggest offender, he did it a few times and should know better. Dawes does it too much and Salem got caught out today but he is just learning the caper. For senior players in the leadership group it is unforgivable. -
Don't know much about Petracca 'Chaser' but would he be a bit like LeCras, a half forward who can run through the middle or is he developing as a legitimate mid.
-
Haven't had a good look at him yet, but by the sound of what others have written it looks like he might be moving up the order quickly especially if he can show he can play as a mid with his size.
-
We know they're 'Knightmares' comments, just funny that's all. Maybe he was taking the p...out of Kevin Sheehan with these and that one in particular. I always find the comparisons a bit off the mark.It will be interesting to see how these guys stack up as the year goes on. I really liked the look of McCartin last year and it appears he's now being seen as a potential no.1. A lot of water to go under the bridge yet and who knows what picks we will have, maybe not as high as we first thought and that's a good thing.
-
That's the one 'Machsy', nail on head. boomer Harvey and Sandilands.
-
That's pretty funny...
-
Good report 'Pennant', thanks.
-
I see it pretty much the same 'Machsy' unless he is exceptional, Rioli exceptional with a bigger tank and great hamstrings. Sitting on the fence about trading out at the moment, depends where we finish. Would have loved McCartin with Hogan but winning beats a number one draft pick so I will take that. Do we factor in the chances of Stretch later in the draft and Lovett in the following draft? Wouldn't mind adding some tall talent to the list.

Thanks 'Chaser'.
