  1. I played a game of cricket in Corowa yesterday (Not that close to Shepparton but similar weather conditions) We have to take turns umpiring and while I was umpiring the bowler had to leave the ground. It was hot. 100 run win secures a home final, our Grand Final is on the same time as our round 1 game against Port. Hopefully they allow a small radio out in the middle.
  2. This is an interesting point. My uncle works for the Sydney Swans academy (who have 2 Issac Heeney clones coming through in the 2020 draft, you heard it here first) and he said that they look for at least 1 elite attribute. He uses Watts vs Scully as an example. Watts never really had entered elite attributes, rather was very good at everything. He says that is why he is now just an average footballer. Scully on the other hand had elite running ability, so it might have taken him a few years to reach AFL standard fitness but now (up untill injuries at least) his elite running capacity started to show through. It doesn't matter what skill you have but to make it you must be elite in something. Vision, contested marking, tap work, fitness, speed, goal sense. I think that is why Hunt will make it, his line breaking pace is genuinely elite in the competition. It is a skill that is hard to teach and not many people posess.
  3. Agreed. At that level every player would be expected to coach on the ground their team mates, be their eyes in another part of the ground. Of course this is going to come.mich more naturally to some than others, but that is part of the drafting process now. In a way this even more backs up my theory of only having one of each. May is a good example, it would be a bit strange to bring a bloke in and instantly make him a captain or vice captain but from all reports he is "the general" of the back line. I guess what I'm trying to say is it doesn't really matter who the captain is game day, I do remember Chris Judd saying once that he was over being the first to training and last to leave, kicking the footy with sponsor's kids, disciplining the younger kids. Now I'm confused... JACK VINEY!!!
  4. In fact why is it that clubs seem to be in love with this co captains bulldust. We don't see co coaches. There isn't a co prime minister. Are there any other examples anywhere of co leaders? Didn't Sydney have 5 co captains or something? Between the captains, vice captains and leadership group there would have been more leaders than followers
  5. Viney, born to lead this club. "Leadership groups" and vice captains are irrelevant. Jack Viney is our man.
  6. Pruess will play, I think West Coast shows the rest of the league how to play Gawn in our last final. Pruess and Gawn to swap out of FF. I don't personally agree just how I see it playing out. Pruess and MFC must have sat down and agreed on a plan for him to play, even from a financial point of view the more senior footy Pruess plays the more he earns(?) I think 2nd Rick is the most valuable player on a list nearly.
  7. Mum and Dad called me Josh...
  8. That's what I thought. Just follow number 7 around for the next few pre seasons. You can see the kind of people we are bringing to the club. Tough hard contested players. If only we have recruited like this 10 years ago but better late than never. St Kilda should take notice
  9. Perfect. Tell us why or swallow your pride.
  10. Seems ridiculous to even say it but MASSIVE game now. Collingwood done us a favour, was worried about Richmond, no need to worry anymore. First things first though, bring the ball to ground in our defensive 50, contested possession and switch to Petracca. Melksham and McDonald running back into goal, simple...

This is nearly worth copy and pasting to Facebook just to get a mention on nuffies of the AFL. Right up there with the Ronaldo to St Kilda rumour. Maybe we could do a 3 way trade, Jones to Renault, Ricciardo to the Lakers and LeBron to Melbourne?
  12. Didn't run into Maddog did you?
  13. Josh replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think champion data try and do the best unbiased statistical analysis possible but when Belchambers can have 3 disposals and still score over 100 you have to question how it works
  14. Josh replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
Considering how far in front we are in all other areas it's amazing we are able to have such a differential. I assume we have the most amount of hit outs and hit outs to advantage, which means half the time we don't get an opportunity to have a contested possession because it's a clean possession. Where do you get your information?
  15. I always seem to notice Gawn literally putting it down Jones' throat. And then there is Oliver and Brayshaw
  16. Josh replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks skuit they are some dominant statistics. Is there anything that we are actually struggling with?
  17. Struggling to get to 6 without including Hogan. Jones, Viney, Gawn, Oliver, Petracca... Hogan?
  18. I started a tattoo thread a few years ago (before kids when I could afford them) but I was alone. Maybe it was Demonology? Anyway got "Every heart beats true" from shoulder to shoulder. Looks sweet. I actually done a fair bit of research to determine the correct syntax. I didn't know weather the line implied that every heart beat's true or if every heart beats true, as in just every heart beat of mine or everyone's heart beats true. Does anyone know...? I never found a straight answer
  19. The price for Kelly will be astronomical. I have a bet with my brother over who will finish higher in the Brownlow, I backed Oliver he took Kelly and he probably has me beat. Imagine the price we would put on Oliver...
  20. Why bother chasing a (soon to be) All Australian defender when we already have one. Put Tom McDonald back to the backline and instead of going after Lever go and get Patton/Lobb. Jetta OMac Frost Hibberd TMac Hunt Brayshaw Jones Vince Petracca Hogan Melksham Garlett Patton/Lobb Watts Gawn Oliver Viney Lewis Hannan Salem Tyson Looks ok to me... We have a good trade history with GWS, only think is it won't come cheap. Have to be realistic can't offer Pederson for either of them. Weideman and a late first round pick?
  21. I had no idea May was indigenous. Is that ignorance on my behalf or a common mistake?
  22. The 2 things I love most about Petracca are when he bursts from a pack how he doesn't drop the ball into his foot he throws it down, puts everything into it. And when he kicks a goal his whole face lights up, he smiles from the bottom of his soul it's awesome. Makes me smile
  23. Josh replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair enough, didn't know Ajax was a Greek warrior. You learn something everyday
  24. Josh replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
    Isn't Ajax toilet cleaner?
