Christian Petracca
I don't think it happens but I reckon they could pull it off if they wanted to. They can't draft 8 kids and expect to be competitive. The question would be is Petracca happy going to a bottom 4 team, I suspect not. Richmond has currently picks 1, 21, 30, 39, 41, 48, 57, 64, 73. They could easily lose all of Baker, Bolton, Rioli and Graham. Speculation/suggestions from cal on Gettable proposed these scenarios... granted this is an educated guess. Rioli to Gold Coast for pick 13 (some say could even be 5). Baker and Bolton to freo for 9, 10 and 17. Graham to net a second round pick 22. That could potentially leave them picks 1, 9, 10, 13, 17, 21, 22 and a stack of later picks. They could use some of those later picks to target gold coast or Brisbane's later first rounder (14 or 20). They could offer say pick 1 and 9 for Petracca and still have 4-5 first round picks left over. And that's not even using their future picks.

Re-signed through to 2028

CASEY: Rd 21 vs Gold Coast Suns
My only concern with this is it will then be two weeks in a row where a midfielder is replaced with a half-back. Perhaps not an issue if they make McVee play the game full-time on ball? Otherwise it's out of Woewodin, Laurie or K Brown.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
@dazzledavey36, @ChaserJ thoughts on Josh Murphy? Saw he kicked 6 goals again on the weekend for 30 in 9 games. Looks more a mid sized tall prospect but perhaps one that can perhaps compliment two taller targets?

I'm starting to think we won't win the premiership this year

Don't you need a PA? Being The God must be hard work.

Christian Petracca
You mention multiple players, may I ask if that's still the case or has it whittled down to just petracca now?

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Hell no. What it would cost Geelong. I don't want him here.

Draft or Recruit
If this draft is as even as they say, it might be a year to do the opposite of what we normally do and split our pick. Try and turn 6 into something like 9 and 15, if possible, and take multiple players. See if we can lure some depth talent with later picks. Kind of hope we are still in the race for Houston though. Would fill the void Brayshaw has left nicely. Cost of getting that done though might be too much.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
It will be interesting to see what Smith gets valued at. I had always presumed it would take a mid-late first but perhaps not the case.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Indulging this possibility, I still fail to see how Geelong get it done. Geelong notoriously don't pay big money to star players as part of their salary cap management. Clayton is on 1 - 1.3 million per season for another 6 years. On top of that, Geelong as it stands will only have a mid to late first round pick and that's earmarked for Bailey Smith. Not sure what trade capital they expect to get it done. Unless we desperately want him out and pay 500k per year for 6 years and accept a future 1st or current 2nd round pick, just can't see it happening.

Dan Houston
Twist in race for Port star, Pie weighs options, Tigers' bid to keep mid - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1195697 THE UNCERTAINTY facing Melbourne's off-season has thrown Dan Houston's move to the Dees into question, with other Victorian clubs expected to enter the race for the Port Adelaide star. Houston has eyed a return to Victoria, where he has a strong pull back home, in recent months, with Melbourne his fancied landing spot. Rival clubs expected the move to be all but locked in. However, the Demons' tumble down the ladder out of the finals race, coupled with list uncertainty on superstar midfielder Christian Petracca, has raised doubts over Houston's preference for the Dees. It is a significant twist that opens the door for other clubs to enter the conversation for Houston if he continues to pursue a move back to Victoria or could even see him end up remaining at Alberton Oval if no club is willing to offer considerable draft capital to make a trade happen. The Power have been targeting Greater Western Sydney's unrestricted free agent pair Harry Perryman and Isaac Cumming, even before Houston's Victorian intentions were clear. They would need strong draft return to part with Houston, who is contracted for four more years and enjoying career-best form over the past two seasons. Richmond (pick one), North Melbourne (two), St Kilda (five), Melbourne (six), Essendon (nine), Carlton (10), Hawthorn (11) and Geelong (15) are the Victorian clubs currently holding first-round picks, although the Hawks' selection will be the centrepiece of their offer to West Coast for Tom Barrass. – Callum Twomey

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Alas wasn't my doing. I posted this in another Viney related thread and I presume an admin created this one and moved it here.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
OOC in 2025 I believe. Wouldn't surprise me if we added 1 year to 2026 with KPI's to trigger one more to 2027.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Not sure if there was a specific thread re the North speculation so will pop some news here. On today's gettable episode they stated Jack is in talks to have a contract extension at the dees and won't leave melbourne. "He's melbourne through and through." Bloody oath he is.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
We will miss him. From the outside looking in appears to be a genuine leader and hard worker. Seems like a top bloke off the field as well. Considering what he has given us, I hope we won't stand in his way of his desire to be closer to family. In regards to trade value, 2nd rounder seems reasonable. If tied into a Houston trade, I could see it being ANB plus f1st for Houston and f2nd.

Trade Targets
Couldn't really tell you to be honest. I remember being impressed with him 2 years ago with his contested footy. Was injured for most of 2023. Havent watched much of Adelaide this year, maybe some SA dees/footy watchers could enlighten us about his deficiencies?

Trade Targets
Wonder if Sam Berry would be worthy of consideration? Tacking machine that's been in and out of the Crows team a bit this year. Out of contract and Vic lad. Won't be a star but could really add to our midfield depth and shouldn't cost much.
