  1. i wasn't comparing deledio's talent with butcher, it's obvious that deledio is clearly better than butcher. I was referring to the work rate of the players, when the going gets tough for deledio, e.g. when he gets tagged, he doesnt work hard enough to break the tag, and i see butcher following the same path. i agree with your polak / brown call as well, i posted this elsewhere with my rating of this years top draftees with the 2001 draft. #1 hodge #2 ball #3 judd #4 polak i consider scully = judd , trengove = hodge, and butcher = polak
  2. Agree with the butcher talk as well, sure he has the talent to make it, but if we did pick him up, i could see him going down the brett deledio path. He just doesn't work hard enough, and that kind of behaviour is something we cannot accept when we want to rise to the top.
  3. Although i am no expert, i would compare the whole scully / trengove / butcher dilema to the draft in 2001. #1 hodge #2 ball #3 judd #4 polak i consider scully = judd , trengove = hodge, and butcher = polak The recruiters should go with best available, that is the golden rule with drafting with a first round choice.
  4. Agree about the andy maher comments, this guy is an absolute loser. You think as a supporter, he'd be happy that his team won and are going to play finals, but no, all he can think about is whinging about us getting the priority pick and continuously adding more fuel to the tanking issue. TBH i reckon he is jealous of our list and knows that we will soon leap frog his team.
  5. Here's the link i hope you are impressed with him as much as i am and enforcer
  6. Idiot! hmmm this might sound odd, but tbh, i wouldnt mind seeing us get belted. The saints are currently the no.1 team in the comp, and if they bring their "A" game, we are certainties to lose. With us getting smashed, i reckon it might create some extra drive within the playing group and possibly set up a preseason of hardwork and a massive desire to improve, as well it will reveal to our players what type of work rate is nescessary if we are to rise to the top. But then again, this scenario could have the opposite effect.
  7. A smoky pick from me if we are unable to get a highly rated tall, Jack Gunston

    Jamar

i rate boak, but i think differently about salopek. With the talk of some posters wanting boak, can you really see him fitting in our midfield when we already will soon have some top class mids with hopefully scully, trengove, strauss, blease etc. also getting boak will not come cheap. We should stick with our picks and only trade players that are on the fringe like bell, also i reckon jamar will be and should stay a demon next year.
  9. my picks after watching the vids #1 - Scully #2 - Trengove #18 - Carlisle

    Jamar

If jamar is keen to move on and highly rated by port i would consider trying to trade either Jamar, pick 18 for port's first rounder or if that isnt sweet enough Jamar, pick 18 and bell for port's first rounder and perhaps 4th rounder
  11. Will be looking forward towards some more "experimentation" and less interchanges, or else i am gonna have to do something about that 31 on my back.
  12. Even though miller may be more effective with his lead up role, i reckon he will better hanging around at FF in our forward 50. Putting him in the 50 puts that big frame in we need to provide a contest, and also it provides oppurtunities for our crumbers. But then again if Stef martin is going in the right direction he could very well be this sort of player, and could be our very own kurt tippet.
  13. Confirmation of the retirements of Wheatley and Whelan http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...47/default.aspx
  14. Would love to see scully in the no. 31 and I reckon he will get it. I reckon the FD will follow the same tradition as they did with watts with the no.4 and the link with Norm Smith. And i would give the no. 9 hopefully to trengove.
  15. I feel for valenti because he is such a hard worker, but we have too many similar players in the valenti mould, and with the inclusions of most liklely scully and trengove i cant see him getting a game in the future and will probably fall behind the pack. Shane would probably find this very frustrating and would probably get better oppurtunities else where. i reckon the club should trade him off (read somewhere there might be trades for rookies?) and give him the real oppurtunity he deserves.
  16. congrats to col, really deserves the praise, he has shown a lot in recent works with his efforts, and hope he can maintain this quality of performance or better in the future.
  17. We are a young team, and a big issue that will arise within our team is CONSISTENCY. i think too many people have taken into account our recent "good" form with our honourable losses. The players need time and will learn from each game, but we just need time. I think our side has the potential to be a great team, but we lack the experience. As well on a side note, i was very unimpressed with the teams acocuntability today, so many free pies players :@
  18. i reckon we will pick up Deboer, considering he is an in and under guy who BP was looking at picking up in the ND
  19. cheers for the info Haydo, keep up the good work.
  20. Yeh Neita3000, that "now" part has got me pretty excited and yeh i have also heard about the Swift and Morton being good mates, but i am not sure if its true. All draftees are no certainty to make the grade, and if we are going with best player available than we really should consider picking up Swift at 17. At 19 there is still quality KP to be picked up and we should be picking up Watts at no.1.
  21. Asked Matt about Tom swift and he replyed with "There is a real chance Swift could get to Melbourne at No.17 now.". For all you swift fans like me, i hope he falls to our pick and we take him . Also have to mention a big thanks to Burgo for all the effort he puts into all this for all the fans, really appreciate it.
  22. Surely we are considering Swift at 17, from all reports he sounds like a gun, and i think we sure really consider him and take the risk.
  23. If anyone is going to Draft night tomorrow, please throw swift's name in at 17 and pick the best player available!
  24. Happy we are picking up Watts, but i hope we pick up Swift if he falls to pick 17, i'm also really disspointed burgo has us missing out on him. Bit suprised by our picks especially with us effectively getting 2 small forwards. And the tom lynch pick up sounds a bit iffy, but i hope the recruiters make the right decisions come draft day and that our picks succeed.
