Just noticed that 'Puddy' has 'Brodeur' on his jersey . He's still playing all these years later !!

I still get a chuckle out of Shawy's "Rumour mongrels" quip instead of "Rumour mongers" a few years back .

It was Fred Fanning's last game as well - remarkable way to finish . 'VOD' might have been there to witness it ! -

It's a pity we didn't have 'Dreamteam' or 'Supercoach' back in the last round of 1947 ! -
An interesting post 'juzzk1d' and the 1st bit I've highlighted is what a lot of people might do in a similar situation . So ...........the young players at our club have a decision to make . Do they want to be the best footballer they want to be and do they want to stand up and make a name for themselves ? Or do they look at the 'Example setters' and decide "That will do me" . Blease has stuck his name up in the last 2 weeks so hopefully the other young players look at him and say to themselves "I want to do what he's doing" Giving in to peer pressure is often a wrong decision . I keep hearing 'ad nauseum' about how our senior players are poor and are setting a bad example but how about the younger players show a bit of pride in performance ? Watching Richmond's 2nd and 3rd efforts last night proved to me (once again) that our players 'effort' is just not there . They can all turn it around if they want to but a good start would be to stop looking for excuses . Your post is probably correct though , because peer pressure so often wins out . It's a fact of life . Blease is bucking the trend and I hope like hell he continues to and others follow his lead . Watts has shown some signs as well , across half back . A clean-out at the end of the season is possibly/probably needed , which goes along with your last sentence that I've highlighted .

Well , just like OKC , the Celtics have hit back hard in game 3 against the Heat . Leading 85 - 63 going into the 4th quarter they've been terrific . A good all around performance vs mainly King James with 30 (so far) . All 4 of Boston's 'Name' players have done well . It's probably the only way they can win this series - Rondo , Allen , Pierce and Garnett all need to step up in every game IMO . They'll need to back it up in game 4 but if they do ............... Edit no.1 - Miami have clawed their way back to 80 - 91 with 6.14 left ! Edit no.2 - Now 89 - 97 with 2.05 left . Surely not . Edit no.3 - Boston end up winners 101 - 91 . TGFT ! Apparently only 6% of teams have won 7 game series' after being down 2 - nil . That's about once every 17 times . I think the Thunder could because they are a good consistant team . I would like Boston to be able to do it but am doubtful .

Well , we just have to keep getting up hey . Smokin' Joe didn't know the meaning of 'quit' . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9l_RrjjTMc

Been listening to a stack of new rock in the last week or so , but happy to continue the 80's theme for a few more weeks at least . Might do a 'July Madness' of new rock . I've got about 40 or 50 hit songs from this year to post !! Some great stuff from 'Garbage' , 'You me at Six' , 'Neon Trees' , 'Chevelle' , 'Papa Roach' , 'Chili Peppers' , 'Switchfoot' , 'LostProphets' , 'Marilyn Manson' and the 'Arctic Monkeys' Here's another from 'Simply Red' Macca's 80's 2.2

I've a feeling that 'free agency' will lead to other 'out of contract' players seeking a new home . It might become a little less unfashionable to move to another club for more money , greater opportunity , a chance to play for a finals team etc etc . Big 'go home' factor with the 2 new clubs as well . The players association have complained for years that there hasn't been enough chances for players to move . It's one of the reasons we now have free agency . I follow US sports where free agency has been in operation for a number of years - there is a lot of player movement compared to AFL .
-
Haven't watched the highlights yet but that margin today was a bit hair-raising . If that's the Spurs bad one then so be it . Got it out of the way , so to speak . The next game on Sunday will tell a tale . As for tomorrow's game , I think Boston might get a win in a close one . ESPN 10.30am .
-
If you take out the rookies it's 13 last year vs 24 this year . Massive difference . The 24 out of contract this year doesn't include any rookies . It's a high number and one that has snuck up on a few people . It doesn't necessarily mean there is an issue - it's just an observation . I'm actually quite happy that there are a lot coming out of contract . However there are more than a few we need to move on and stitch up asap . Free agency will open the door for other 'out of contract' players to seek a move if they wish . Player movement in general will increase IMO .

Interesting results with the lottery there JJ . Apparently it was on primetime tv , broadcast at 8pm before the hoops game between Miami and Boston - only in America ! Boston had their chances today but losing Pierce before the O/T was cruel . 2 nil down now and you'd reckon if Miami can win 1 of the 2 in Boston it could be 'All She Wrote' time .
-
Great pass for that overtime goal . LA are just a juggernaut at the moment . What a run they've had . And they had to win vital games at the end of the regular season just to get into the last 16 for the playoffs . Amazing . I'm still with the Devils though . Just get a win fellas !! Game 2 is Sunday morning oz time . Bewdy , we can watch it live !

There's some good names in there 'GTG' . And there are other 'lesser' names who would be very valuable . We're in a bit of a 'catch-22' situation . The less games we win , the better the draft picks but .......the less chance of enticing free agents . I'd prefer it if we tried to win as many games as possible . Picks 4 and 5 or 5 and 6 is not such a bad result . We would have taken those numbers at the start of the season . As for enticing those free agents the club needs an old fashioned 'spruiker' to get some decent talent across . It could end up being a bit of a 'throw-back' to the old days . A Jim Cardwell type . Maybe we could use RDB to help us out .
-
Hadn't heard that - ta . Would love the bloke at CHF for us but it was always going to be a tall order getting him . There's plenty of talent available - if we can finish off the season well and make ourselves look a bit more of an attractive proposition we'll have a much greater chance . If we entice one fairly big name then others may follow . We have to be a big player for those free agents . Of course money talks as well , but we can't be there for superannuation !
-
Our list is underperforming so much it's difficult to know where to begin . We'll have a much better idea at seasons end . The interesting bit is that our own free agents coupled with the contracted Sylvia and Davey hold the key to our re-build . And it's looking increasingly likely that that's what we'll be doing . I can foresee a stack of new players at the club next year . Through trading , the draft and hopefully 3-4 players picked up as free agents . We may go for Cloke but he'll probably take up too much of our salary cap . Experienced midfielders are what we need - desperately
-
It's mighty unusual . 24 out of 39 is unprecedented . I reckon it might have been about 12-14 last year for instance . Obviously the new coaching group would make the figure a bit higher . I'm with old dee on this one - there's probably more than a few looking elsewhere . The figure is too high to suggest otherwise .
-
24 out of 39 are out of contract at seasons end . Is this some sort of record number? Seems an awfully high figure . And we haven't heard much at all about re-signing any of them . And of the 15 that are contracted post 2012 , there's a few that some supporters would rather see the end of (Sylvia , Morton and Davey) and another 3 that are in the 1st year of their initial 2 year contract . What this indicates to me is that the club is looking to 'turn over' quite a number on our list . Or at least be a big player at the trade table and in the 'free agency' area . Thanks for posting the list 'rpfc' . Didn't see Morton there (contracted till the end of 2013)

Well , your Spurs were very impressive today . OKC made a bit of a run but San Antonio were too good . 2 nil up in the series . If the Spurs can get 1 win in Oklahoma City that might just do it . As it is the Thunder would have to win 4 of the next 5 to advance . Tall order . Miami and Boston go at it again tomorrow . Boston need a win , big time ! 10.30am on ESPN . Bosh seems unlikely and the Heat may not have to use him in this series if all goes well .
-
Finally underway tomorrow . Fair break ! Devils just have to win game 1 , if not , it could turn into the LA show . 10am fox3 for those with cable . 8pm for those in Eastern North America !
-
Bit late with the tips but I was hoping for a Spurs series win - in 7 ? After todays win they could do it in 6 . Very classy come from behind win . Ginobili was terrific . Miami in 6 . Boston would need to win 1 game in the 1st two games in order to have any chance . Once Bosh appears it should be all over . I do have a nagging doubt on Miami though and it would be better for the Spurs if Boston get through . The Spurs are rapidly becoming my favourite team .
-
Yeah , wasn't much of a game . I think Boston might do ok but realistically if Miami get Bosh back by game 3 they should get through . Haven't heard the latest on Bosh . Games 1 and 2 are in Miami - just as well . If Boston can pinch one it could be a great series . The Spurs are in action tomorrow in game 1 of the Western conference finals . 10.30am vs OKC . (ESPN) . Should be a cracker .
