I tend to watch a lot of the games on delay during the season BB - you can save a stack of time breezing through the endless breaks in play . One game usually takes about 1 - 2 hours depending on whether you want to listen to the commentary between the plays . Otherwise you need a Monday off or loads of time available or be prepared to wake at 3am or 5am . It takes a fair bit of planning to follow the sport really . The Niners have been on the tele a lot this season and if you want to watch the games you might have to plan a bit more of that 'paperwork' Where there's a will there's a way . My Packers take on your 49ers next Sunday at noon . It should be the game of the divisional round . If San Francisco are at their best it's gonna be tough going for the Pack . Really looking forward to it .

Might have even started a little earlier but .....don't mention the war
-
Yeah, it's not just the priority pick years . The Bryce Gibbs cup in 2006 was essentially for the no.1 pick . Both teams tanked so well it ended up being a draw

Montana is one of my all time favourite sportsmen . When I was just a casual observer of the sport I used to barrack for him alone ! Now the team he represented is an enemy Your Bears were a bit unlucky . 10 - 6 is a good season - just couldn't beat my Packers hey ...

I've got a mate of a mate who puts on a day at his place every year . It's 12 to 15 blokes who catch up once a year - it's like a reunion of strangers ! It's hard not to get 'caught up' so I don't always 'front up' Another 'Niners' fan ! Where are all the Packer fans ? C'mon, I will need help next Sunday ... They're all gonna call me 'cheesehead' . I can see it ! Seriously bub, you've gotta get back into the sport - with the coverage we get and with 6-7 games being shown live (as well as being in HD) you're missing out . It's a great sport .
-
I see the rally is on 'Eurosports' (for those with cable) . 9.00am(ish) and 6.00pm every day . Haven't caught up with it as yet this year but it has a strange appeal ! While I've got ya - we could with some more posters on the NFL thread next year (or this year) Now that you've revealed your team to all, there is no escape . Get on board old dee !

I've been telling everyone I know about all the indiscretions ... Tiger fans are now worried about Wallace's comments . Terry's views are out in the public domain . But many have forgotten and in a lot of cases had no real idea of the extent . Probably because it was viewed like 'The cat that got the cream' in those times . Past always catches up hey ...

Bananas are now done with (hic) Strawbs are at the ready - thanks for reminding me - the crisper reveals all !

Didn't you know? It's a private club . Jacket and tie required and no riff-raff . Swearing is allowed but only with cigars after 11pm . Invite is by 'PM' only but don't hold your breath . MCC membership is known to come quicker . Guest passes are available on application to the great one - Redleg . That's my guest pass used up - I'm outta here ...

Felt Shanahan should have pulled RG3 from the game earlier . He was clearly hampered and could hardly run . His throws were off target as well and a knee injury can have an effect on your whole game . They had Cousins ready to go and should have bitten the bullet . Seattle were good though - coming from 14 points down . Wilson and Lynch were very good . Atlanta awaits and you'd have to give the Seahawks a real chance . Been a terrific year for the Skins and they should be proud of their efforts - they won a tough division and kept the Giants and Dallas out of the playoffs . Ravens were too good as well . Indi picked up a decent amount of yards but just couldn't score . No touchdowns says it all . The Ravens defence held firm and it will certainly be an interesting match-up against Denver next week . Denver defeated the Ravens in Baltimore 3 weeks ago (34-17) so they'd have to be reasonably firm favourites . Luck couldn't do what he's done a lot this year - get another 4th quarter comeback win - tough to do in Baltimore . He's had a top year though and may still get ROTY (though if Wilson gets Seattle over the line next week it's all his) Reckon Peyton will get it done 'cfh' . That home field advantage at altitude cannot be underestimated . I'm with you on the Seahawks - just ! If they win they'll be at San Francisco or Green Bay . Are they the 'Hot' team ? It was totally gutsy the way RG3 kept going but I couldn't believe how much he was hobbling out there today .

Which other side ? Have you behaved yourself enough to get through the pearly gates ? As soon as you mention to good old Saint Peter that you love Demons that will be the end of it . Down with the rest of us I'm afraid, Wyl .
-
Wouldn't take long mate ... you'd have a whole bunch of people pointing at you saying "That's him. that's him, that's Wyl, he posts all the time on 'land, I know him" ! Not sure about anyone taking a swing at you in the MCC area - such behavior is just not tolerated Anyway, all of a sudden, you'd have your 15 minutes of fame ! You're gonna have to do it now ...

Ha ! No arguments there, she's an absolute stunner - good movie that one too (that your avatar picture is from) I've got a great print of a 'Vermeer' - you know, the one that Adolf had . What's the membership tally, anyone ?
-
Yeah, imagine the look on the card checker's face when he sees 'Bring-Back-Powell', 'Curry & Beer', 'jumbo returns' or big_red_fire_engine ...

How about Ivor Warne-Smith ? What a player he must of been ... our greatest player ? He coached us as well and was right hand man to Norm Smith .

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Macca replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What if one's opinion is just that - one's opinion ? We don't always post so that it falls into the majority view . I don't reckon there are that many here who post that way . Some do but so what ? I reckon there's quite an eclectic bunch on this site and there are quite a number who are prepared to stick their neck out . My views on Wilson for instance does not really take into account what others think or write . I have zero respect for her for the way she's treated our club and would say so even if I was a lone voice . She talks utter rubbish - it's obvious . Has nothing to do with group think . Same with our general treatment in the media - unfair and obviously so . Nearly all the examples you gave don't bother me in the slightest and probably never will . The AFL and Wilson do bother me and many others because many feel that they're trying to damage our club . Hard to argue against that by the way . A large majority thinking a certain way doesn't always fall into the 'group think' category . I'm not saying that you said that by the way maurie, because you didn't . Just my take on proceedings . And I'm not saying that 'group think' doesn't happen because of course it does . By the way, is this post one that falls into the 'group think' dynamic ? I could cop plenty of flak or maybe I won't . However, you nearly always know when you are posting in the minority view - you've got to be ready to back it up and no moaning about it either . What's ironic is that those who are complaining about being singled out are (in a way) on the same page with those who are arguing that the club is being singled out -
Yep, though there aren't that many on here that would want that . They are here but you've always got to factor in the 10% rule Remembering that Vlad is street smart and knows how to pull off a deal (TV rights was a goodin') He, like Bailey, could be one of our strongest allies .

A few weeks ago there was an article from somewhere in the media about our interchange 'numbers' back in 2009 . Now, those numbers were on show in ..... 2009 . And the AFL could have acted then - they didn't . They can't act now (they are acting now, but it has to fall flat, eventually). That type of evidence has to be inadmissible now. Like everything other bit of 'evidence' from that year . What was allowable back then can't be 'non-allowable' in hindsight . I can't see how that type of evidence could stand up in court - and the AFL must know that This whole thing is a nonsense unless there is a smoking gun .
-
I agree with your point . As an example - Pie fans play victim and suffer from persecution complex's but it's their own fault - they bring it on themselves with their own unrealistic expectations . We, on the other hand, have been blindsided and attacked for what ? We've already yapped about the 'What' so I won't go down that track again . It could be an easy thing to have a 'Guilt trip' about the events of 2009 but did any of us feel guilty back then ? Many people's attitude back then was "Everyone else has done this so why not us?" . The 'Done this' bit is also open to interpretation . 'Vague' is not a strong enough word to describe all this If we threw games then where are the betting plunges ? Why haven't the bookies come forward ? Not even a $5 Heath Shaw type bet - nothing . The AFL 'Rubber stamped' our behavior at the time - fact . Unless there is a 'Smoking gun' then all they have is the same circumstantial stuff they had back in 2009 . Oh , and a couple of 'gags' from Connolly and some idiotic utterances from an ex-player .

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Macca replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, you're probably right about the media, Bossdog . But if we get out of all this in reasonable shape then who cares what the media says or does (after a hopefully, positive result for the club) Once it's over with the AFL , it's over . You can't get tried for the same offence - or can you, in today's AFL ? -

You may be right and of course Vlad isn't silly - he's street smart and should never be underestimated . My take on it is that Vlad's behavior right now is somewhat different to how he normally behaves . Is it because he's been somewhat entrapped in this whole affair and feels that any sort of comment might in fact incriminate himself ? He was forever shouting from the rooftops that "There's no such thing as tanking" . My gut feel is that he's laying low . A compromised solution to this whole saga may probably eventuate . Might even be done in a quiet way .
