7 and 0! Amazing transformation - Reid and Smith were always going to add wins but you're almost certainties for the play-offs now. Reid made the playoffs 9 times with the Eagles so he's always known how to win. Probably shouldn't come as a big surprise, all things considered. Re the comp ... just goes to show that numbers can skew things sometimes. 6 or 7 road winners per week doesn't convert to being able to pick 3 of them out correctly. We have to leave it as it is now but if we do it again, some fine tuning might be required! Maybe a few '2 out of 3' weeks? I'm beginning to think my lone point was just a mere fluke. We've got a bonus week coming up in a fortnight so hang in there! Oh and the Pats/Jets game ended up being shown live this morning. It may well have been listed but not on my 'Internet' TV guide. Pittsburgh winning helps your blokes as well. Are they back? With a QB as good as Big Ben they were always likely to get some wins. 2 games clear are the Bengals ... your schedule isn't that tough but some of the teams you're up against can play well when it suits. The Jets are one of those teams and they visit Cinci next week. Big Rex never ceases to surprise - big big win today for the Jets (there were a few surprise winners but just catching up with it all now) Things fell nicely for the Packers as well. The Jets are only 1 game back in the AFC East and they could have easily won both encounters against New England. Not altogether sure about the Pats but I say that every year and they end up proving me wrong! The Vikes must win tomorrow but how's it going to be if the Giants are 0 and 7? Gonna be fascinating to see how Freeman goes. Packers visit Minnesota next week

And it looks like the 'Roasts' are back ... This link takes you to the one on James Franco (Jonah Hill, Sarah Silverman, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and others appear whilst Seth Rogen hosts the show)

Once again, the TV games. The early morning Monday games may kick in soon (hopefully) Overall, we've missed out in seeing a lot of the good match-ups (compared to last season) For instance, this week, we don't get to see the games between the Bengals/Lions, Cowboys/Eagles or Ravens/Steelers (this game is nearly always a good one) The Pats/Jets game holds a bit of interest too (replayed 6am on Wednesday on OneHD) Mon Oct 21 7.05am San Francisco at Tennessee (Fox1) 7.25am Cleveland at Green Bay (OneHD) 11.30am Denver at Indianapolis (OneHD & ESPN) Tues Oct 22 11.30am Minnesota at NY Giants (ESPN) All the other week 7 games ps ... good luck with the tips! (there's a few who've already got the Seahawks up)
-
Also, OneHD are replaying the Patriots @ NY Jets game from 6am next Wednesday (no live coverage of this game though) Interesting that the Vikes have gone with Freeman this early 'cfh'. He's certainly got talent and I hope he does well for your blokes. If he strikes form you could start winning games again (assuming AP continues to have big games) Still reckon our division will be tight with maybe only the division winner making the playoffs. We may see the 2 wild-cards come out of the NFC West. I can see all the teams within the NFC North sharing the wins against each other (with the home teams winning most of the games)

No early morning Monday games being broadcast again this week ... Fri Oct 18 11.25am Seattle at Arizona (OneHD & ESPN) Mon Oct 21 7.05am San Francisco at Tennessee (Fox1) 7.25am Cleveland at Green Bay (OneHD) 11.30am Denver at Indianapolis (OneHD & ESPN) Tues Oct 22 11.30am Minnesota at NY Giants (ESPN) All the other week 7 games Tips ... New England San Diego San Francisco Tomorrow's game should be a good one and Arizona could surprise. The SNF match-up where the Broncos visit the Colts should be a beauty. Any number of road teams could win this week but finding 3/3 is proving rather elusive!
-
Combine both the West divisions and the W/L record is 32/16 (both South divisions have a combined record of 17/28) A record of 9/7 may get a wild-card or 2 in both Conferences. In our conference only the NFC West might provide 2 teams with double digit win tallies. So many teams are banged up with large injury concerns. I know the Packers are running out of wide receivers (Cobb is out for 8 weeks with a broken leg)
-
The Chargers were very good today and outplayed Indi in most areas. However, they're probably the most unpredictable team going around - heard somewhere that San Diego have only had one losing season in the last 10 years. Rivers led his team well and had a good game. They might get on a roll and their schedule isn't too difficult from here on in - they could get to 9 and 7. The Colts were quite disappointing. The 2nd wild-card is up for grabs in the AFC (Miami currently hold it down with a 3 and 2 record - one of 6 teams that have 3 wins in the AFC) Anyway, CBolts would have done it for 4 of us in the comp! 'cowboy from hell' continues to show us how it's done. The points tally ... 3 - cowboy from hell 1 - Macca 0 - Gorgoroth, pantaloons, DemonDave, 45HG, Norm Smith's Curse, Strafford, bananas, Demon Land 7 ... week 7 games and 'The B.S Report'

I'll have a look at more of the highlights later on but it was an important win for the Packers. Cobb copped a heavy knock to his knee but he may be ok. Jones hurt his leg as well. Not too many surprises in the results although the Rams had a big win. Nearly all the favoured teams won.
-
I struggled to have a lot of interest in the games today. Just an awful thing to happen and I can only imagine what the family are going through right now. AP did remarkably well just to take to the field.
-
So the Steelers game was on? I recorded OneHD from about 3am and it wasn't there.

Here are the TV games again along with Bill Simmons' column ... part 1 (a QB story) ... part 2 (week 6 picks) Mon Oct 14 7.05am Tennessee at Seattle (Fox1) 7.25am New Orleans at New England (OneHD) 11.30am Washington at Dallas (OneHD & ESPN) Tues Oct 15 11.30am Indianapolis at San Diego (ESPN) All the other week 6 games

Zack Galifianakis is brilliant ... big fan of SNL and he hosted the show in May this year (series 38 episode 19) SNL can be hit and miss but not this time - one of the best and well worth a look. The first episode of series 39 (hosted by Tina Fey) was superb as well - came out a few weeks ago. It's difficult to find good comedy sometimes but if you look hard enough, it's there.

I'm on the case! ... in the meantime, here's Chris Rock from 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee' Btw, Winters was often at his best on the 'Tonight shows' or on those 'Roasts' ... a rare talent.

They're not happy in New York (as expected) Wasn't all that impressed with the Bears though and the Giants weren't far away from winning the game. This, from the New York Times ... For Giants, a Familiar Start With Another Ugly Ending

TV games ... there aren't any 'early' games covered by cable or OneHD this week Fri Oct 11 11.25am NY Giants at Chicago (OneHD & ESPN) Mon Oct 14 7.05am Tennessee at Seattle (Fox1) 7.25am New Orleans at New England (OneHD) 11.30am Washington at Dallas (OneHD & ESPN) Tues Oct 15 11.30am Indianapolis at San Diego (ESPN) All the other week 6 games Most Vikings, Lions and Packer fans hoping for a Giants win tomorrow! New York have to win a game sooner or later but the Bears should prevail. 0 and 6 would have the Giants fans a little restless (to say the least!) Tips ... Indianapolis Cincinnati Philadelphia

Here's that goal from Tomas Hertl pantaloons ... Hertl's 4th goal vs NY Rangers Canucks are at home to your blokes tomorrow - can we snap that 10 game losing streak? Vancouver have won their last 3 so it could be quite a good contest. Starts at 1pm our time.

Robin Williams from 'The Daily Show' a couple of weeks ago. Stars in a new comedy called 'The Crazy Ones' that's just come out ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL8cfShREuk

Great win to the Jets ... Geno Smith had an excellent game. Atlanta in a bit of trouble - wild-card may be their best option. Tipping comp points table ... 2 - cowboy from hell 1 - Macca 0 - Gorgoroth, pantaloons, DemonDave, 45HG, Norm Smith's Curse, Strafford, bananas, Demon Land 7 ... Week 6 games ... Bill Simmons & Cousin Sal's podcast Power rankings come out in the next couple of days but I'll have a go at my top 8 teams ... in order ... 1 - Denver (great offense and Manning is immense) 2 - Seattle (solid, dependable and well coached) 3 - New Orleans (the big danger) 4 - Indianapolis (have beaten Seattle and the 49ers) 5 - San Francisco (if Kaepernick finds his form they'll be hard to beat) 6 - Cincinnati (have beaten Green Bay and New England) 7 - New England (not impressive but they find a way to win) 8 - Kansas City (5 and 0 is hard to argue with. Reid and Smith are the difference makers)
-
So a team scores 48 points, has a QB who throws for 500 hundred yards and 5 touchdowns and loses!!? Wow! Dallas must be in shock right now whilst Denver just keep rackin' up the big numbers. The 49ers returned to their best form and the Saints, Packers, KC, Cinci, Indi and the Ravens all had big important wins. The Chargers can't be trusted yet and the Eagles and Arizona are hanging in there. Josh Freeman traded to the Vikings! Interesting times ahead at Minnesota. The Bengals holding the Pats to 6 points was a major achievement all things considered. Much relief that the Packers won as a loss would have been catastrophic. At the Ravens next week in another tough one. KC won as expected but didn't have it all their own way. 5 and 0 now and home to Oakland next week. The Saints and Indi were maybe the biggest winners though in terms of setting up the rest of their seasons. Once again it looks like no one picked 3 road wins - I changed my mind from Baltimore to the Pats in another baffling move. When will I ever learn? Maybe we should all be awarded a 'Participation point' just to get people off the mark!

There's been a spate of injuries this season already (higher than normal?) I've picked New England but not with any confidence. Your division looks the hardest to figure out. 9 wins might get it done Nice win to Cleveland yesterday all the same but the QB's took some punishment. The hit on E J Manuel looked worse than Hoyer's but as 'cfh' mentioned, Hoyer is out for the season with an ACL. Weeden did ok after he was called into the game.

Good start for your Maple Leafs 'GTG'. Great to have the season back. The Canucks went down again to San Jose (that's 10 losses in a row to the Sharks apparently!) Word out of Vancouver is that we've drafted well but who knows? I like the set-up of the conferences and the divisions. I thought they might have put old rivals the Blackhawks and the Red Wings in the same division but not to be. Your division looks strong and so does the Pacific division. The new Avs coach Patrick Roy seems to be up for the contest ... check this out from yesterday's game against Anaheim. And Colorado won the game 6-1!
