Hard to believe that 5 senior players believing that (a) the concept of ball tampering was a good idea and (b) that they'd even get away with it. Cricket fans will want blood and mass sackings ... but I've always believed that ball tampering goes on as a matter of course. And there's been a number of incidents over the years that reinforces that view. However, the incident just looks so brazen & blatant. And idiotic. This team is not well-liked to begin with so the repercussions could be enormous. But there's no excuse looked at in isolation and the person most responsible for this fiasco is the captain Steven Smith (unless Darren Lehmann knew about the plan as well) ... there's a press conference on at midday with James Sutherland - that will be more than interesting.
-
Santos will win it's fair share of races D77 ... that was a hot field.
-
'Kings Will Dream' does it easy - Dominant! One to watch. Into the Caulfield Cup now (automatic) Darren Weir again - he's done well again today. Winners everywhere.
-
'Sunlight' & 'Written By' were game in defeat - it was a really good race. Estijaab had to do it from the outside barrier - a great win and a great ride by Avdulla. And once again the exotics pay really well - Oohood was the difference but it always gets into the finish - it nearly won! Santos just couldn't finish off. There's a big future for a number of the runners.
-
And I'm doing well at Morphettville & now Mornington. 3 wins and 3 trifectas in a row from JJ's tips. The man is unstoppable - Safari JJ!
-
Ace High had every chance but D'argento too good. Started favourite and rightly so in the end. Ace High just hasn't had that zip about him in this campaign ... battled on well but we were looking for some brilliance.
-
And now for the Winx show ... I'm intrigued to see how close Kementari can get. Happy Clapper is in great form as well.
-
What a champ! So consistently good hey Wadda? Looked the winner a long way out - Darren Weir again!
-
JJ's tip for Race 3 - In Heart's Wake (No.6) Edit: 2nd again - is the dream over?
-
Thought 'Alward' was going to get to the line first but just missed ... money back if you took it each-way.
-
Ha ha! You know, that never happens but it just did!
-
Apparently it was the wrong tip ... anyway, you got the win, Wadda. I backed Tunes each-way so money back (as it was in the first race) By the way, Tunes has had over 100 races!
-
JJ likes Tunes in the next at Morphettville (No.3)
-
JJ likes Blue Morpho in the first (No.6)
-
The winner of the first (I Am Excited) ran 1:11.45 so the track may not be all that badly effected by the rain. The horses weren't cutting the track up that much either.

Good call Wadda ... So here are the 4 best bets ... Rosehill Race 3 No.6 Alward (4.60) Rosehill Race 4 No.1 Gailo Chop (2.30) Rosehill Race 6 No.1 Ace High (6.50) Mornington Race 7 No.11 Kings Will Dream (2.35) Combined odds of - 160-1 (best available)
-
So our 3 best bets so far (payout 'best available') Rosehill Race 3 No.6 Alward (4.60) Rosehill Race 4 No.1 Gailo Chop (2.30) Mornington Race 7 No.11 Kings Will Dream (2.35) Over to @Wadda We Sing for the final tip. Good luck to all today ... it will be a great days racing.

Good post Steve ... although I don't believe we necessarily have an 'ego' issue - more like pure ability, application, energy & effort. All the noise in the media is just that - noise. Brayshaw, Tyson & Frost could have all been picked but in Goodwin's eyes they are lacking in some of the basics. By not playing any of the 3 it puts the whole list on notice. All 3 are not being punished either - Goodwin is endeavoring to improve all 3 players. As you said, team first.
-
No good tonight was the Gator ... 1 winner only. 'Safari JJ' will hopefully provide a few winners for us tomorrow 'Hellbent' salutes in the William Reid Stakes ... very impressive and a terrific ride by Williams. Weir gets another Group 1. The First4 paid over 8k yet all the horses involved in the finish were decent. Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing D77? ha ha Spanish Reef was also quite imposing in the Sunline Stakes ... destined now for Sydney and could do well up there - worth following at least.
-
Rosehill track currently rated as a heavy8 but with no more rain forecast the track might end up being rated as a soft7 improving as the day goes on. There's a bit of wind about tomorrow so that might dry the track out a bit as well. What we do know is that the conditions won't be like last year where the track was rated as a heavy10
-
Yeah the 'Get On' crew call James Jordan 'Safari JJ' - suit related? Anyway, we've at least got a couple of his tips in advance - I'll be getting on! They all tipped well last week especially 'Gator' who tipped a heap of winners - he's another who knows his stuff.
-
Hard work trying to find a best bet but here goes ... 'Kings Will Dream' - Mornington Cup Race 7 No.11 ($3.10) The horse has been in fine form, has drawn a good barrier and is trained by Darren Weir. And the extra distance should suit. $3.50 was available yesterday so the punters are coming for it.

It's not a bad field D77 ... 'Crack Me Up' is another with claims as it knocked off a very good field at it's last start (Care to Think ran 2nd) ... and again, it ran a good time in doing so. I'm going to put my first 3 in order in a trifecta and do the same with a first4 ... Winx, Kementari, Happy Clapper then Crack Me Up. I reckon the form reads that way and each combo in order only costs $1 for the full dividend (if successful) I keep going back to Sunlight & Written By and I can't split them Wadda ... they've drawn barriers right next to each other as well (4 & 5) I will be including Santos, Performer, Estijaab & Seabrook into a trifecta/first4 as well. There's about 8 or 9 realistic chances but the top 2 that I mentioned have both been ultra-impressive. I can see both horses breaking from the rest and then having a duel all the way to the line a la 'Our Waverley Star' & 'Bonecrusher' - wouldn't that be something to see?
-
Well that's good news Wadda ... trying to do the form is hard enough as it is! And we don't want a repeat of last year's conditions. A few points re Rosehill ... Gailo Chop is 1.80 Fav in the Ranvet Stakes ... next is Single Gaze at 7.00. Harlem is at 11.00 The 5 other runners in the Winx race are all good horses and nearly all are in good form ... 200k for 2nd is like winning a 330k race whilst the 3rd place prizemoney (100k) is like winning a 180k race. So there's a bit to play out - Kementari & Happy Clapper have been running some very slick times of late and will chase hard. You can still get 5.00 for 'Ace High' in the Guineas ... 'Vin de Dance' has firmed from 9.00 into 6.50 - the horse won the NZ Derby a few weeks ago. Hmmmmm. You can get 4.80 for 'Sunlight' & 6.00 for 'Written By' in the Slipper ... a bit overs for both? 12.00 is available for Santos. Nice odds all round. Supido, Thronum & Secret Agenda are entered for both the 'William Reid Stakes & The Galaxy.

I've reached a dead-end Wadda ... however, he might give them out on 'Get On' which airs on a Thursday night on the racing channel. I reckon we'll probably end up doing what we did last week ... but I don't ordinarily like betting on the run.
