I agree ... they might have thought that the 490 metre straight at Sandown was long enough for the horse to catch the on pace runners but it wasn't a truly run race (sit & sprint) I'm loathe to blame the jockey in that situation because Dean Yendall might have been riding to instructions The connections & trainer would have learned a lesson though. Not exactly a good thing beaten but it could have won the race p.s. Dean Yendall just rode Fighting Harada to a win at Pakenham after the horse had been off the scene for over 2 years!! That horse might be worth following as it showed promise as a 2yo & 3yo (now 5yo)

In a nutshell, it's next man up PSD as long as the proper systems & structures are in place (and that includes our stoppages/midfield systems) So T-Mac, LJ & either Brown, Smith, Rosman or Petty rotating through 2 key positions in the forward line or the wing (T-Mac, Rosman) or on the ball (LJ) They could rotate at the start of every quarter and/or half way through each quarter Replacing 2 stay at home forwards (Ben Brown & Weideman) Not sure that T-Mac or LJ are ideally suited as stay at home forwards. One likes to roam (T-Mac) whilst LJ has versatility so let him be versatile

The games involving Adam Goodes could have been played in front of empty stadiums as what happens (a lot) in soccer Sends a powerful message but again, the AFL either didn't want to address the issue or didn't know how to address the issue Adam being hounded out of the game shouldn't be forgotten either but what might get remembered more were Maguire's ill-conceived comments at the time -
Yeah thanks Dave And thanks for playing your part. I usually post up more on the NFL in general but have been quite busy with work this last 2 years So running the comps has been about it! Gorg keeps plugging away though and Dappa should be back soon enough as well It's a great sport to follow in our Spring/Summer as 7Mate broadcasts 2 games a week (and all the playoffs) ... youtube has a host of action & highlights so it's easy to keep up even without cable The season is way too short though! Your 49ers have been up and down in the recent past but so much can depend on the QB. But very good (QB) can work in the absence of exceptional Need a good team regardless of the QB ... as we saw with Tampa who were good/great everywhere. To restrict KC to 9 points was remarkable. Tom, Gronk, Fournette, Jones & Evans were the cream on top (if one believes in the philosophy that defence wins Championships)

There is a lot more that needs to be done to stamp out entrenched racism The booing of Adam Goodes by a big percentage of fans from most of the other clubs remains a huge low point for football (and Australian society in general) Adam Goodes was hounded out of the game and that was the red flag. Or at least, it should have been seen as such. Maguire's ill-conceived comments at the time seemed to add fuel to the fire And the players from all the other clubs should have done something at the time but didn't. The AFL Commission sat silent. Club Presidents & CEO's did virtually nothing At first I just thought it was harmless booing but in the end it was insidious, relentless and disgusting and said a lot about our mentality. The voice of racism (by the mob) is how I look back and view it now Say No To Racism- 243 replies

Collingwood can easily make more money as the away team for the QB games. Probably do if you break it all down Their premium 18 game membership costs $1000k x 20,000 premium members (approx) amounts to $20Million Divide that by 18 games (Home & Away) and you come up with over $1Million per game And of course one of the games was the QB clash whether as the home or the away team That's apart from the pouring rights in the Ponsford Stand ... food, merchandising etc So they clean right up when they're the home team in the QB games. And our club doesn't ark up because we're beholden But as a comparison, how much money do we ever make as the away team at the MCG? Now it is good management on their part but they can hardly cry poor if they are still making a stack of dosh as the away team for these big games -
Down to 7 runners now so Bella is 2.20 the place (still 5.50 the win)

And we have a winner in the post season tipping comp! @Go the Biff picks up his 2nd post season award after overtaking @Dee Zephyr after today's result. Getting over the line by correctly picking the Tampa SB victory Well done GtB and fully deserved too. You stuck with Brady right throughout the playoffs and it paid off Well done to DZ as well in finishing 2nd - DZ was the first to post up his tip for the SB (which gave the rest of us a chance!) Nobility is alive & well And thanks to all for your participation. The post season comp has worked better with the bonus points on offer (in my view) but I also believe the regular season comp should stay as it is. Let the tradition continue n.b. Hall of Fame stats to follow directly Anyway, here's your prize GtB! Final Leaderboard - Post Season Tipping Comp 26 - Go the Biff 22 - Dee Zephyr 20 - Macca 16 - Clintosaurus 13 - Gorgoroth, JV7 6 - DeeSpencer* 3 - DemonDave* *Denotes started late in the comp

Managed to get the ok-paying trifecta with the top 2 in the betting both finishing in the placings Classic Weiwei running 2nd added a bit of value
-
Hobart Cup today is a good betting race ... 5 or 6 genuine chances means the exotics could pay quite well
-
Got a good collect in R8 ... 4 bets with 3 returns. The last 2 money back Might stick to the quinellas up there. Boxing 4 or even 5 is like an each way bet Purton or Moreira were involved in quinellas in 5 of the last 6 races. That might be the clue I've been looking for The first 4 races are often C5 or C4 races and are therefore the equivalent of BM58 or BM64 affairs. I stay away until R7 normally
-
I was on Ulysses but Zing looked home for you there ... at least with Sportsbet you get the bonus bet back
-
Same here ... had a place multi going but I've had a good day today (unlike last week!) Gone down the quinella path at Sha Tin this evening ... got a couple of roughies going (in each race) for the value
-
Couldn't get clear running room ... really unlucky. Held up for more than a furlong in the straight but that's racing Jamie Kah wins again on Prophet's Thumb ... another treble for the elite hoop
-
Overs!! Good on ya Gorg and I took on board what you said about Streets of Avalon (what a warrior horse Streets is!) Got the quinella twice so a handy collect ... I work on the principle that if you get enough reasonable collects you'll end up in front Come on 'Sword of Mercy'!
-
If Sir Dragonet is scratched then Crosshaven could come into about 2.80 or 3.00 But I'd be on Imaging at about 4.50 (?) if I went for a win bet. Might Box 4 in a trifecta including a couple of value runners (Blazejowski & Sovereign Award?)
-
The first Group 1 of the season tomorrow with the CF Orr Stakes to be run. Will Sir Dragonet run? Trainers Maher & Eustice are going to walk the track tomorrow morning looking for a bit of give in the track but the surface might be a Good3 by R8 anyway. At a guess I don't believe it will run but I hope it does The Blue Diamond Preludes will also be run whilst up at Randwick there are a couple of Black-type races as well as 2 high-stakes Inglis 2yo & 3yo events ($2Million & $1Million) Caulfield Card - Odds, Form & Full Fields Randwick Card - Odds, Form & Full Fields And they race at Sha Tin tomorrow as well (Saturday's once a month up there) - the meeting continues until 8.45pm so the 'Get-Out Stakes' x 5 is in operation! Comprehensive Form Guide (HKJC Website) Form Guide (Racenet.Com) Expert Video Preview (Each Race) - Excellent Site Odds & Fluctuations (Available 2 or 3 days Prior to Raceday) All The Tips - Available 9pm The Day Before Raceday (Tom Biddington & RacingPost - Best)

Yeah we've got some issues alright All the more reason to be playing more Test matches to sort it all out I see CA offered to play the Tests against South Africa here in Australia but that was rejected. And South Africa are peeved that we aren't touring Not sure we had much choice with the stronger strain of Covid seemingly out of control in South Africa. Not exactly safe no matter what measures were going to be undertaken. One player gets the dreaded disease and that would be the end of it. Surely a financial outcome could have been reached if the Tests were played elsewhere (?) Anyway, I'll be taking up a stronger interest in the Shield now as well as watching England play in 11 Test matches (9 against India) ? CA might find a way to pencil in 2 or 3 Test matches from August onwards though. They must know that the players need to play at Test level on a regular basis
