Finals will not be a chance as we lose our best players for little return in this years trade period. MFC can’t afford to be a basket case again. Just watched the presser and he actually said that the forward half is not the problem. Say what? He was happy with 26 scores from 40 entries! Does he not realise that 18 of those scores were behinds? Does he know that there was no system? Better system would result in more entries. Practicing goal kicking would result in better conversions. He talks about us being out of form, well perhaps only play 100% fit players and play players in their best positions. With a reported strong off season there is no reason why our players struggle to run out quarters.

Laughable, he clearly has lost the group. No idea on a modern day game plan and is too arrogant to listen to others. For the sake of any chance of future membership he must be removed immediately.

This thread isn’t about a wasted dynasty, it’s about a coach who inherited an amazing list and amazing system who systemically destroyed the list over the last few years. He achieved this through poor team selection, lack of ability to make game day tactical moves, a very poor outdated game plan with a stubbornness to change. my belief is that we would have won more finals with a more nimble, tactical robust coach who doesn’t play favorites. Look at poor Spargo, twice he has come back early from LTI and twice got injured (different injuries) on 1st game back. This is on the entire coaching team and the head coach is ultimately accountable for performance and on this metric he has failed. the time to go has already past.

When on song he is a delight to watch. He appears to be struggling with his new role and we don’t play to his strengths. i can understand why he would want to move if the media can be believed.

Of course Goodwin is the problem and to salvage the season he should be removed ASAP. Everything he has tried to do/ said he will do has failed or not eventuated. He is stuck in his ways. It only took to round 2 to coach form the boundary ffs. Spargo on his day is a gun but it is not fair to play him when he is not 100% against north we were too slow, too small, unskilled, unstructured and couldn’t land a tackle. Our positional moves both assistant coaches and players have not worked, with a number of players regressing in last years output. That is 100% on the coach. The only positives I saw from the game was Chandler and Lindsay’s performance and we 1 game closer to sacking Goodwin who has destroyed the premiership list he inherited. I have been calling for him to be replaced for years just to get howled down by those posters who live with their heads in the sand. we have lost the opportunity for multiple premierships and need to go for a full rebuild of our game plan. That will only happen with a new head coach.

Yet most on here defend Goodwin. He is killing my love of this club. I used to read demonland daily even in the offseason. Now only a couple of times a week.

We are still in this and expect north to stop running in the 4th. My concerns are we look slow all over the ground, all players are fumbling and there are too many missed tackles. Address this and we should win. if we lose, our season looks shot and it hurts with no 1st round pick.

Do you have teen age kids? You want crowds you need the kids to want to go and watch. I have no chance of getting my kids to go to games anymore and my nephews who live in Melbourne no longer attend any matches. So yes you need to have an exciting brand of football if you are th MFC and want to attract crowds. Remember 2021 was only a couple of years ago, clearly winning a GF only has a short half life for crowd numbers. So I would argue an attractive brand is equally as important as playing in finals.

You don’t need to convince me, you need to convince the op that called us pathetic. I was proud of the boys today. To the posters that disliked my post, you need to get a grip of reality. The only people that will turn up to the Melbourne games are die hards that are on this site. If you want the next generation of supporters you need to have an exciting brand which will be impossible with the current coaching philosophy. Grow up.

Fans want to be entertained. Our game plan is defence first and boring. Create a spectacle and the fans will come. if you want crowds, get a coach with an exciting game plan.

Time for goody to go with 18 months ago. I fear it is too late for this list and he will leave once we have truly hit rock bottom. My kids no longer follow AFL and I’m on the way out. i didn’t buy a family membership for the first time in decades last year and won’t buy a membership while he is at the club.

My kids are losing interest in AFL due to Goodwins boring game plan. He needs to go to save the next generation
