  1. This my list of those I'd keep - some with reservations as noted. The rest though are essential for the next 4 - 5 years. Bail, * injury prone Bartram Blease* not convinced yet Cook Davey * needs to show something over next five weeks Davis Fitzpatrick Frawley Garland Gawn Green Grimes Gysberts Howe Jamar Jones Jurrah Martin McDonald McKenzie Moloney Petterd* would trade him for a stronger marking forward Rivers* nearing the end Scully ??? if wants to be here Spencer* could afford to trade Strauss * not convinced yet Sylvia Tapscott Trengove Watts Wonaeamirri * if he settles
  2. Our prayers, hopes and wishes are with you and your family Jimmy. Take care of yourself and let the rest look after itself. The world needs you to get well!
  3. There really are some ignorant, rudely arrogant people among our supporter base. Whilst I enjoy reading the posts on Demonland I am getting tired of the pontificators who think they are the only ones with a valid opinion. Let's treat each other with a little more respect.
  4. Viney has some credentials and will be very keen to show his wares. Clearly, he needs to impose himself on the group and changes are to be expected. Who knows, this might be the start of something good. I know everybody is talking about the need for an experienced coach but perhaps there's something to be said for having someone who believes in the red and the blue and who is not just there for the money. If ever our great club needed to show what it's made the time is now. If Todd Viney can bring some of his courage and determination and instil it in our young potential stars we might just see a change for the better. Whilst Viney has nothing to lose and much to gain, he is not someone I would associate with accepting failure and I'm sure he will be doing his utmost to rejuvenate our performance. The club as a whole though has a lot to lose if we don't see a better response from our players against Carlton this week. Anything less than a 100% effort from every one of the team will just feed the sceptics and critics. It's time, once again, for players to show that they want to play for the red and the blue. If they won't do this for Viney we need to point them towards the door. I'd rather see a bunch of honest triers lose every week rather than the ups and downs we've had this year. Every heart must beat true.
  5. What would you suggest the average supporter who has paid for a membership do about the football department?
  6. For all "intents and purposes" perhaps. Speaking of grammatical errors!
  7. A sad day for all lovers of AFL. One of my fondest memories is of watching Sean Wight, at every opportunity, climbing all over the back of Gary Ablett Snr at the MCG. Ablett's frustration grew and grew as the match went on resulting in a clear win to Wight on the day. Sean was an inspiration and a delight to watch. He is an example of what one can do with dedication, determination and a touch of desperation. Condolences to all who were close to him. How many of us can only hope to be remembered as fondly as he will be? R.I.P. #27
  8. It's never too late or too early to make a stand. The point is that our club will never be strong, either on the ground or off, until we are respected for what we stand for. It is time to make a stand. Not just the players but the whole club, including supporters. I'm getting tired of the negativity in the reserved seats area and I've probably contributed to it due to frustration from time to time but now it's time to make a stand and applaud all the good things our players do. Let's not focus on the negatives; let's show we are supporters.
  9. The true nature of individuals is revealed in times of stress. When faced with difficulties we have an opportunity to show what we are really made of. By extension, it's fair to say that the integrity of our club is on the line at this point in time. Let's hope those representing the club on Friday night rise to the occasion and give a strong account of themselves. A win is not likely or even necessary but a solid four quarter performance is. It's time to demonstrate the passion and desire that exists when hearts beat true. It would be great to silence the critics with a performance worthy of the red and blue jumper.
  10. Not what I want to be writing, but there it is, Ive said it. Let's hope things get better and I am made to look stupid.
  11. Which bit would you disagree with?
  12. For some of us who have been putting up with disappointment since 1964, "later rather than sooner' is hardly comforting. No, I don't want to listen to whinging, but I do want to let the club know how disappointed I am with the way things are progressing. From my point of view we're in the 47th year of a five year recovery plan. I could never be as passionate about another club as I am about the Dees but sometime, someone, somewhere has to say enough is enough and do some serious decision making. If Scully wants to go he's not worth keeping. Just like Ablett. Let him go and concentrate on building a culture around guys like james frawley who at least cares enough to be disappointed and tell the truth. For too long we've given spots to players whose interests begin and end with themselves. When did we see anybody apart from maybe Nathan Jones actually risk his body to make a statement against the Roos. Winning is not everything but I'm sick of copping the "your team's soft" comments from my mates. Let's harden up and demand better. If I hear one more player or coach say "we need to stick to team structures" I'll throw up. Are these the structures that turn 30 point leads into 40 point thrashings? Where is the structure for dealiing with the challenge of physical pressure from the opposition? Haven't seen it yet? This team plays like front runners and receivers. Sensational when not challenged - very poor when the pressure's on. I've written to the club expressing my concerns and interestingly got no response. Why? No answers? Not good enough.
