  1. Biff, I’m still trying to come to terms with how serious you’ve been with this topic. Wattsy’s a dud. Has been for long time.
  2. Trading Watts is going to be one of the most instrumental, logical and positive things this Club has done for decades. I’d trade him for pick 120.
  3. I doubt Geelong will use pick 19 compo from Motlop to secure Watts but if they do, I hope the irony isn’t lost on Port Adelaide.
  4. Appealing.
  5. I caught him hovering around Scarborough beach the other night as families were eating their fish and chips while watching the sunset. Wanted to say hello but he was making some horrible noises and [censored] everywhere. Pretty sure he'd be at the Saints if the Eagles were to trade him as they'd be looking at a top 10 pick. However, he'd have to be a very high priority FA if he doesn't extend between now and end of next season and you would think we'd be in with a good chance considering the fish and chips are much nicer in Victoria.
  6. And everyone agrees it's too long. Football admins, the media and clearly the footballing public. Needs compressing to a week because seriously, as we all know, the bulk of conversations have been had in the weeks/months leading up to the period... I guess it would help if the whole system was a little more mature and transparent.
  7. I’m only responding so you get a notification to make you check again.
  8. I think what makes that difficult to answer is because he’s not played a lot of senior footy due to injury and homesickness. He’s showed some handy form for Peel in the WAFL on occasions but his overall portfolio of evidence is pretty limited.
  9. It’s all relative right up to the point where AFL footballers get absolutely everything provided to them in order to succeed.
  10. Like any individual and their employment, it's what you make of it. AFL footballers have it much better than the average Joe.
  11. Hang on.. Wut? He belted his Skipper at half time on GF?
  12. It’s pretty clear that when you’ve been to the drafts as much as we have over the years, that eventually you need to bite the bullet and identify those niche players that complete what the FD thinks a premiership puzzle looks like. We may have gotten out of this cheaper but really I don’t think has too much influence on where the club is right now. We’re after plug and play as opposed to draft and develop. We’ll improve on this season and then start hitting the free agents that want to play in a side that’s looking likely.
  13. A bit like Rocky Road? A mixture of hard and soft bits at the start but ultimately turns to mush.
  14. Isn’t this a normal blokey thing to do?
  15. I’m reasonably confident that the young kids we’ve already got can continue to develop.
  16. My Port supporting mates refer to AFC as the ‘Cows’ all the time. Supposed to denigrate I guess.
  17. Was this done on purpose?
  18. I can't understand why you're so keen on creating the disparity in our debate as they're clearly intertwined. We've all played our part in why Watts appears to have been treated so poorly (your words) by expecting too much. The media have been significant drivers by constantly placing him under the microscope as well. However, nobody can deny that Jack himself has been the main offender over his career at the MFC in why so many of us are underwhelmed and are left wondering why he gets so much love. It's only because he's a good guy - not because he's been a valuable player for the club. The applause he received at the B&F was heartening for those of you have a differing opinion. Mine is based around performance whereas yours and many other supporters is based on him being a great guy and allegedly treated poorly by the current Admin. As far as the managing of this process goes, I can't make a fair assessment of it as yet for only one real reason. It's not finished yet. The club and LG have taken the emotion out of this decision and are moving forward with what appears to be a pretty clear consensus that's it's in the best interest for the club. It's really that simple in my opinion. But anyway, thanks Wattsy.
  19. I just hope the appropriate feedback was given to the AFL regards our chunk of 6 day breaks and interstate games. It clearly had a negative impact on our fortunes this year through injury and fatigue. Must avoid that next season.
  20. Nothin like a Jack Watts thread to make us all turn on one-another. Go you good things!
  21. VP, I don't want to get into a slanging match with you mainly because I consider you to be one of the better contributors on this forum. You can either accept or reject what I've said. I will however add one more thing. Did you not get the feeling that the love the supporters gave Watts was similarly shared by the playing group? Do you at all consider just how that must be influencing them and moulding their behaviours around the club? This club has celebrated mediocrity for a long time now and at last Goodwin is putting a full stop to it before it begins to infect our next batch of potential stars.
