  1. Annoying though that whenever Hogan is out injured or in a form slump the idiots come out with a trade argument.
  2. Love the message and photo montage of the team behind Bernie. Definition of esprit de corps : the common spirit existing in the members of a group and inspiring enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard for the honor of the group. The culture this club is fostering is making me very proud to be an MFC member and rabid supporter. Thanks to Bernie for playing such an integral part in the complete turnaround in the club. Such an exciting time. ??
  3. Yeah nah. I’d be okay with $900K a year for 4 years with the knowledge you’re probably going to play in Grand Finals.
  4. You’re quickly running out of any cred YOU think you had.
  5. Harmes has been terrific I’d still have Gaff over ANB thanks.
  6. Hmmm... Hall?
  7. Based on what, Tom? Usually, if you make a call about something you attempt to back it up with something of a plausible nature - particularly when you’re a journalist. This bloke would get a job at Woman’s Day.
  8. I was thinking that as I was typing it. ?
  9. So are you thinking if we do get him it will be a very sizeable salary that gets it done? We have some potential bait like Kent as a player but then our first round pick this year is the at the Crows and I very much doubt we'll want to trade out a first rounder 3 years running so it begs the question if Kent and a second + third round or something else is enough? Essendon are in a similar position to us after bringing in the all of Smith, Stringer and Saad last year. The only way I can see this happening is by blowing the Eagles out of the park with money. In which case all we need to do is pay more than Essendon if I'm reading this right?
  10. Not if the Eagles match any clubs offer it isn’t. Remember he’s restricted.
  11. A quick snippet on 6PR this morning reported by Hagdorn - and this is paraphrasing... West Coast now jockeying for position for a player from either Essendon or Melbourne ‘should’ they match the offer of either club to assist in a trade. What’s making it more difficult is that it’s also looking likely that Lycett will also depart. No mention of North.
  12. All the latest articles are just rumour. If anything, I feel more comfortable with the rumour we’ve apparently eased off the chase. Smokescreen.
  13. It's the free agent status that makes it logical to chase Gaff. Your points above are all valid but we have an opportunity to add a proven A grade mid with 170+ games to the team who is in their prime. Stuff the waiting and hypotheticals based around our current list... Let's jack our team full of more stars while we can.
  14. You could insert the MFC here and your post would still have some merit. If Gaff doesn't end up a Demon he's going to be labelled a mercenary by most supporters.
  15. McQueen replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
All this talk... Let's just wait and see on Sunday. Like Goodwin said, this is his opportunity and he's up against McGovern and Hurn who are excellent backman so he's clearly going to have his work cut out for him.
  16. Not a bad point but a bit of breathing space would come in handy too.
  17. Simmo was interviewed last night and said he'd had no contact with Gaff since immediately after the tribunal. He went on to say that he's looking forward to Gaff returning to West Coast to assist with coaching for the remainder of their campaign. I think Gaff being part of the coaching team will be a pretty uncomfortable proposition rather than just getting around his WCE teammates as they play finals. And Tom Morris is a flop of a journo. Says lots of words that mean nothing - just like this article.
  18. Unfortunately it's a by-product of the 'forward half game' and repeat entries mentality our game plan is built around. I like the theory of generating additional opportunities to score but it's just not working against strong defensive opponents (top teams). I can understand when Goody talks about "lacking connection" but that's the catch 22 he's created and having to deal with. No wonder Hogan takes off up the ground.
  19. We need to drastically improve the way we utilise Hogan otherwise it'll be another wasted talent chewed up and spat out by the MFC. If I was him I'd be very frustrated. Trade him? Seriously, some people have even less than NFI.
  20. We don’t need to compete with anyone other than WCE though do we. North can GAGF. And anyway, when has an RFA been held to stay at a club they are wanting to leave? It’d be farcical for Gaff or anyone else to sign a one year deal to see him out to unrestricted FA status you’d think. Players generally get to the club of their choice nowadays so if Gaff wants to be at the MFC next year a deal will be worked out.
  21. Probably.
  22. PMSL. To think you even took the time to provide this amusement.. Thank you, Sir.
  23. Something tells me a Freo supporter has done this work..
  24. A pretty good article I thought that outlines a lot of the hypotheticals many of us are probably thinking. Gaff faces million-dollar quandary
