  1. He has to SW or the wick will be turned even further. He needs to fire up and so does the playing group....physically. He doesn't have to correct that much structurally to make us more competitive than Sunday .... - Anyone but Clarry/Jones in a run with lock down so we have our 2 best clearance players getting more of first use. Tyson comes in to assist here also (a no brainer). Lock downs from lessor lights pls like Harmes/ANB where their low output wont really impact anyway. - Add a bit more speed / run to the outside and a link man ...Hunt? - Add a 2nd tall up forward so those coming i50 have a tall target to go to, other than Hogan (or no one when Hogan is roaming!) and who can also get the ball to to the feet of the smalls. (Weid this week?) - Have the designated smalls get front and square to the above two talls more often and staying down when behind more often for the out the back goal. - Add a 2nd tall who can relief ruck a little and prevent a mid fielder from rucking who has no impact but negatively impacts on our mid field rotations (clearances / hard ball gets / scoring chains etc)... Weid. - Ensure when the press is on there's at least two speedy outriders who are hovering and protecting the back including a tall to kill the long bomb trying to get over the press or mark it (Hunt & Frost). There are obviously other areas and I'm no expert but his hardest task from now is to motivate and get them up to playing on the edge on game day. Last weeks total capitulation can only be put down to a mental break down of 'most' players on the day where they stopped playing a particular brand and didn't stand stand up for themselves in the heat and bring a level of intensity required for AFL. A similar drop off that occurred last year in Rnd 23 (just not as bad). That is the major factor he will need to Coach out of this group as the year rolls on IMO. I think the next 5 weeks tells us the tale. A good mix of big game days vs big clubs (including last week's disaster) and 3 against those we would normally be expected to win (subject to form in the next few weeks). We will certainly know where we are at as a club by the end of Round 9. I am hoping SW that by Rnd 9 we will have risen from last Sunday's ashes as Goodwin's Demons and not Fuchsias!
  2. If Goody learns from his major errors so far this year AND the boys decide AS ONE that they are finally not going to lie down and be bullied like we were last week......then we are a show to make finals (subject to Viney coming back by Rnd 12 in a fit state and some sort of form and no further significant injuries). If he is stubborn and has learned nothing and continues with the same game style going forward with most continuing not to stand up against being pushed around....we will finish somewhere between 10th and 14th IMO.
  3. That is spot on gents And a big man or two who can take a few crucial clunkers around the ground to hold up play at times and try and wrestle back momentum. We also lack a general up forward and down back to hit in hard, finish off some good play (up forward) and a voice out on the ground that lets our less experienced guys know we are in the contest and not going away like we did last week.
  4. If today was a good example of the game plan we are trying to instill across the list then i hope he has a plan B. And i'm not saying it was BZ....just saying
  5. Spargo, Pedders, Munro, Gent, Hannan (in patches) have done ok. Outside of Pedders there was no big man presence / marking around the ground today apart from a few tap outs to advantage. Soldo dominated.
  6. Casey having trouble clearing the defense....Toiges intercept. Long bomb is marked by Tiger tall Jones 20 out....kicks the goal ughh
  7. intense pressure since 2nd quarter allover the ground...forward pocket for the Toiges....13 min left. 94 - 79 Toiges way
  8. Pedders is the least of Casey's probs today Steve. Has done ok given the way the ball is coming in and also had to work up the ground a little as well to help out and hit the contests. Very serviceable.
  9. Some mids were reading the pill ok in the first but afterwards they have def won that battle easily OD. I hate to say this but to me King looks intimidated by Salter in the ruck contest and is having Zero impact.
  10. If Casey can bring a manic pressure, man on man game in the last and finish their efforts off better coming inside 50 hitting up Pedders ....Clear out that forward line...too congested. Spargo & JHK at the drop....you never know!
  11. Got to the contest and won the pill in the forward flank late in the quarter, soon as he felt a bit of pressure he spilled it, straight back to the Opp for the clearing kick the other way. Was getting on the end of a few clearances in the first but has since drifted out of the match.
  12. Great tackle by Munro on Stengle ....resulting kick down the line sees Pedders take a specky outside 50
  13. Yep... I see a lot of sausages out there TK but not much sizzle. Not enough run either. Apart from Hannan and Gent the run seems to be lacking that would help stretch the opp and use their energy up chasing us instead of too much the other way
  14. To be fair it hasn't been down as often as the first and the delivery's been pretty ordinary under a lot more pressure....or just ordinary!
  15. Bugg injured in that mark. Hobbling off. Suspect a bad corkey with player laying knees in late
  16. Miles took on a tackler...beautiful tackle.....drops ball. Play on. Umpires refuse to pay against the Toiges more often than not! Awful
  17. Apart from Pedders working for it, our big men do not take enough marks around the ground to provide any relief against the tide and are too easily pushed off the ball. No physical presence. No big grabs. Hannan good early but two turnovers looking to go inside this quarter. Bugg a horrid one in the first. Nice work from Munro, Spargo and JKH for the finish there for the goal against the run.
  18. Lol....toiges player handballs it to the line....over. No deliberate! you have to wonder eh
  19. And another awful decision....defender being tackled kicks a quick instinctive kick from 50...bounces, wobbles along the wing about 15 meters...goes out. Deliberate!
  20. Alice took on one tackle, broke that, ducked his head on the next. Awful awful decision resulting in a goal
  21. Casey lacking a momentum /possession slow play option and not sticking enough tackles
