Team & Player Ratings to Rnd 6, 2024 vs H&A Season 2023 Team Rating looking ok, only 4% down on 2023 is very gettable. Maysie jumps ahead of Viney to take over 3rd place. Lever moves up two places to go ahead of Rivers & Clarry in 5th spot. Joey (Woe) the big mover from the rookies, up 13 places on his 2023 rank and his rating 56% higher. Keep in mind he's coming off a pretty low rating in 2023. Hogan in fine fettle this year. Looks super fit and focused. Those sticky mitts really make a difference.

Round 6, 2024 MCG - Tigers vs Demons The ANZAC theme appeared to spill over into the game with a brutal "in the trenches" first half, followed with a decent salvo in the second. Lever just pipped to the post by Maxy. I reckon they both deserved the medal with Rick having a massive 15 intercepts. Maysie back to his best and more! Tracc did pretty well considering the tag and Rivers continuing on with his improved form as the season rolls on. I believe there was some sort of Disco Inferno last night! Let's take a look at the young fella's forward foray! 10 effectives % 76.9 (above AFL average at approx 74%), 1 contested mark, 4 marks inside 50, 2 one percenters, 6 inside 50s, 1 tackle inside 50, 1 intercept, 380 meters gained, only 2 turnovers, 3 sausage rolls and our No.1 rated forward. Clarry still a long way off his 2023 (and prior) best but hopefully with another decent break he can recoup and come out all guns blazing against the Puddy Cats. Viney also way off his usual standards in these last two matches and can hopefully regain some of his early season form soonish. Chin a mile off his usual levels as well in this match. Similar to the Lions match, our top six players had a VG night. Eclipsing their 2023 average rating by over 8%. The bottom six not so good, still a long way down on the 2023 rating by a hefty 37%. An improvement vs the Lions result though, where they were a massive 61% off the 2023 average. There is that conundrum DJ. BBB would probably have to be managed to fit him in. McAdam comes in this week or goes around once more at Casey? We played four talls at Casey over the weekend which was two too many already imv. Mid field stocks very ordinary. CHB it might need to be. He needs to get some touches. Cold as a wet fish playing in the seniors up forward at present.
-
Off the field that's Melk at the moment. BBB probably provides some guidance when he's in the side? Agree though. An on field / in game forward line leader / general has been lacking for us when Melk's out of the team.

Yes i reckon it's a must for Petty now Mike. Goody has certainly given him plenty of chances to improve and perform. However, sometimes a player just needs to reset and find the fitness & belief again at the lower level. Seen it work so many times before and no reason why it wouldn't for Harry. Personally i think it's mostly (60% - 80%) a match fitness issue with the remainder above the shoulders. A few matches under his belt with some more time and space to execute at Casey, the belief should start to return again and then the confidence and results should (in theory) follow. The other concern you have to ask... Has his mind / heart already left the building IF he knows he is moving on at year's end? That's not to say he's intentionally doing this. But if he's made the decision to do so, surely must be playing on his mind... possibly even "in game" at times? If that's the case then a spell at Casey is a non-negotiable. And as a coach you must ask him the committment question (without asking the question) by doing so. And what i mean by committment is "are you capable of putting that all behind you and performing at your very best each week for the remainder of your tenure?" If so all good. But seeing is believing. Of course he may be staying and all of that means diddly squat and it's purely a fitness/form/belief issue. Only time will tell

Some being a bit harsh on Roo I thought he played ok doing his usual ruck chop out and in a more high forward role that many have been asking from him. Ok so he didnt clunk some marks and wasn't a prolific scorer. But some of his involvements and little one percenters were handy and team orientated. He'll come good playing this role more often i believe as it will help with his confidence, awareness and tank as he grows into getting out of his comfort zone as a mostly deep forward in the past.

Yes actually seemed ok with the chat. Usually a few brief words and can't wait to end the interview. I'd say that's the most open i've heard Clarry since he joined. Kudos for him agreeing to do that. Not so happy with chunk's hand shake at the end though and neither was Clazz... grrr.

Kozzie, Chandler and to a lessor degree ANB & Roo used to bring that. Kozzie & Chandler weren't bringing so much tonight from what i thought i saw. ANB spending alot less time inside 50 of late? Roo spending about 10% or so in the middle reduces his influence here vs prior years. We also used to see a small amount from Clarry. But not sure his two way running and second efforts around the ball are anywhere near his best from prior years so far. Petty also a long way off bringing any kind of pressure. Hopefully Kozzy & Chandler can up the ante next week with a few assists from the likes of Laurie & Windsor.
-
I can't see him being dropped deever but boy he was allover the shop tonight and caught with ball so often. He's had some good games and some not so good so far. Can't seem to string a few good games together. He's the fourth string mid. Not many alternatives but needs to find some consistency. Who goes out for McAdam? Does Woe keep his spot? Maybe a yes til Bowey returns?
-
Players come in and out of form at stages. It's a long season. But to have this many out of form, especially through the middle. We simply have to get two out of the three amigos back to their best to have any chance against the Cats. Then there's Petty. He simply must take a spell at Casey to try and gain some match fitness and form. At this stage i'd also look to bring Sestan in for Sparrow. He probably isn't quite ready for a four quarter match but could come in as the sub with Laurie brought in to the interchange.
-
Disco you [censored] beauty!!! Class finish from Fritta
-
Terrible decision to sub Windsor instead of Sparrow. Sparrow having a mare and too slow ...reaction time included.
-
Sub Sparrow for Laurie. That's Sparrow's goal. He's been pretty ordinary tonight, getting caught too often and well off the pace.
-
I've never seen someone this out of form given so many games. It's actually pretty cruel from the Coach to keep playing him in this state. Needs a spell at Casey to find his mojo under alot less pressure and VFL level opponents.
-
Did someone say "SUB WINDSOR OFF" Go you good thing
-
Tracc horror panic play back on the HFF caused the turnover and shot at goal here. Seriously just do the basics and kick it quickly deep into the 50 FFS
