Spaz usually plays a defensive mid role. They probably figure Laurie is about as close to that as we'll get as he's a bit of a tackling machine at Casey level at times. Whether that translates to a similar role / outcome at senior level we'll have to wait and see i guess.

Just my take but... At this point ANB would not need to train with the boys to know the role in a one off sense. Possibly moved aside to allow the young fellas a chance to train playing a similar role either off the bench or as sub and give the Casey boys some tips with positioning around stoppages etc?

I just love watchimg the unbridled attack, driving of legs and finding his way into space. Plus the smile and the enthusiasm he brought to the club. Sensational. Yes he 'has been' a tad wayward with the disposal at times. But i've seen the signs, especially after being moved into the middle, that he's been working on this aspect and slowly starting to turn the corner. It's been an amazing 100 and hard to believe really. A flag in that lot as well and played an integral part of it throughout the 2021 season. A bit of an off year in 2022 but hit back hard in 2023 which is a good sign of a player maturing upstairs and understanding what's required at this level. Followed that up with another solid season so far. Congrats young Riv. Hope to see your happy face on the podium again at some point.

Only knew of Sam on mid week tackle but came across as a very decent journalist and fella. He didn't appear the muck raking type we sadlly see with the likes of you-know-who. Way too early and just unfair for all around him, especially his parents. The worst thing about losing anyone is the tough realisation that you will never see them or hear their voice again. R.I.P. Fabulous post. We are way too conservative in our messaging here. Let the club's media have some fun with it, provided there's discussion with relevant player in question and he is instigating the charge. There'a so many clever ways we could hit back and pretty much immediately. Yes the wolf pack will get the odd piece of inside info to stick if they throw enough mud. But just like in a classic pie fight, you need to start lobbing the bulk of it (where it's well known that it's completely fabricated crappola) back in their face. Psychologically this would surely be a great outlet for said player/s also and have some sort of galvanisimg effect om the team/club also yes?

What a great get for our club. On and off the field. These are the characters that make a club great. Loved what he brought on the field. Really straightened us up and sometimes forced the oppo to play an extra tall and go outside their usual 'preferred' line up down back. He also drew plenty of frees just through worrying his opponent as he would attenpt to mark the ball at its highest point on the lead and did so quite often. There were the little one percenters. A hand in here. A fingertip there. An outlet relief mark down the line to help out Maxy on occasions. Sometimes he'd even drift right down to the last line for the odd intercept save the day mark. His accuracy was also up there, which meant if you could get it into his hands he would goal more often than not. Who'll ever forget his mark from behind and goal as apart of the bang bang bang bang passages late in the third. The Dennis Lillee run up! Thanks a million Benny boy and enjoy the after life.
